Definitely 3rd person. Being able to see you avatar makes it more interesting, and you get more joy out of whatever possessions are visible (cholthes, weapons, etc.).
I definitely play 3rd person a lot, but I think inclusion of a 1st player option should always be there too. I typically won't play most 3rd person only games, because there are times I like the other better. Just my 2cp.. Peace.

Gotta play third, I like to see myself, hell I spent all that time working on me, I sure as hell wanna see me. Plus I like being able to see all around me in combat a hell of alot more. I can quickly strafe left or right to get better position with a mob.

I'd have to say third person. But it's sometimes nice with first person, So being able to switch between third person and first person would be good I think...
I say third person, because motion sickness is really a pain in the arse for me at times.
Dunno, sometimes I have it and sometimes I don't. go figure that out

3rd but dont ruin it by having a poor way to manipulate the camera. Scroll to zoom in out, and look around by moving the mouse WITHOUT having to push and/or hold a button down while doing it. And don't make the camera auto turn when your char does, thats annoying too.
Most RPGs are 3rd person because you're playing a character. Its not you yourself... its a story you follow (or make.) You're not living it yourself, but you're seeing / making someone else live it.
1st & 3rd person. but if I had to choose one: 3rd person.
