Hey Guys,
I am new to this site. I am looking for a new MMO. I am currently playing Darkfall. I love that game but the lack of a playerbase and the lack of communication from the Devs is driving me away.
I am wondering if anyone can recommend a new MMO for me. It does not have to be one that is out r ight now. It can just be one of hte horizon or something.
I think Aion is going to be kind of a WAR flop WoW clone deal so I am really not interested in investing time in that just to see everyone leave the game.
Anyone seen any new games t hat are going to be out with in the next year that i should look at?

Mortal Online, there's a big fail/success rate, but that happens with any MMO.
It just looks the best among them.
Hard to say without some indication of your preferences, but since you mentioned Darkfall then it's a safe bet that Mortal Online might interest you.
Could be worth looking into.
Playing: EVE, Final Fantasy 13, Uncharted 2, Need for Speed: Shift
Sounds like you are a PvP fan.
Darkfall is the main 'PvP or die' game out there. As mentioned above MOrtal online is the closest alternative.
If you dont mind the genre change to Sci-Fi, give Eve Online a look (and a free 10d trial)
Aion will be fine, Although noone can predict the future, I believe Aion will fair better than WAR because it's PvE aspect is better. We can also look to the Korean/China game and see that it's held its own in that market for months.
Torrential: DAOC (Pendragon)
Awned: World of Warcraft (Lothar)
Torren: Warhammer Online (Praag)
Hey guys thanks for all the responses.
Previous MMOs I have played include SWG (PreCU). Planetside, L2, WoW, EQ2 (hated the non pvp aspect of that game) and of course Darkfall.
My friends in the MO beta say it needs years before it will be ready to launce in a semi-complete state. And even if it launches soon I am not in the mood to play another game in such shit condition at launch.
My concern with Eve is that the game has been out for so long that it would take me years to catch up with the good players.
The latter is one of the reasons I am kind of looking for a game down the road. I like to get in on a game at launch and power game my ass off so I can stay the best or at the top end of the crowd.
Is there a section on this site that has upcoming MMOs or anything of that nature?
I would give Eve a shot, there are loads of players at all skill levels in the pvp areas. 4 me that ads to the excitment of the game. And the free trial is 14 days, there is no harm in having a little look and see for yourself. It does have a steep learning curve though but there is lots of advice out there. If you do decide to have a go, do the tutorials and dont skip any text, read everything.
The Game List divides the games on it between Released, In Development, and Beta. You can choose to look at just one of those categories by clicking on it. You can also sort them by the columns, including the hype/rating level the board members have voted for on them.
I just started playing Fallen Earth, and I am really enjoying it so far. It's not for people who like their games spoon-fed (WoW, Lotro, Aion, etc), so if you can't take a little brain work, don't bother.
I am also keeping an eye on Mortal Online which is coming fairly soon. It's the only game that may take me away from Fallen Earth due to the almost pure sandbox nature. It will have to deliver a lot to steal me away though.
I have my eyes on Earthrise, Guild Wars 2 and The Secret World for the future.

You don't understand EVE or how it really works therefore you don't realize that this is not a major issue. (assuming you are a little patient.)
There are many threads in the EVE forum that explain in depth why its not a problem, but I'll give you the short version.
You train skills in EVE to fly specific ships. (or craft specific gear, or mine etc.)
For each ship, lets say an assault frigate, there is a limited number of skills that actually impact your ability to fly/fight in it.
This sklll set is further limited by a level cap, you can only train skills up to level 5, and most players only train skills up to level 4 unless level 5 is a gateway to another skill.
The difference in power between level 4/5 is generally 5% or less, which can easily be overcome in a number of ways, including surprising your opponent, fitting your ship better for the current situation, tactics (do you fight at long range or up close) and your actual skill at flying/fighting your ship. (you do not just circle each other, at least not if you want to win.)
There are many players with 6 months to a year in skills who are absolute killers and take down dozens, if not hundreds of ships a month, vs myself with 2+ years who rarely kills anyone. All a matter of how you specialize and how good you are.
No other game operates this way so its hard to describe until you experience, and I'm afraid the 14 day trial really won't do it for you.
But as others have said, Mortal Online is your best bet, and its due out by the end of the year. (OK, I don't believe that either)

I've been watching MO for a while now. If it comes out with the feature list promised, it should be a very, very interesting sandbox. This assumes the features work, of course. The rumors coming out of Beta are that this game is not nearly finished enough to be released on time. This was another reason I chose to pull the trigger on Fallen Earth and give it a try. Aion isn't for me, and I am willing to take my chances on a niche game right now. I waited a year and a half since my last MMO (AoC), so why not?
I'd like to see MO work. The features they have remind me a lot of the sandbox nature of pre-cu SWG, including things like in-game housing/shops with NPC vendors; something I loved in SWG. I just hope they don't release it too early and end up tanking the game before it has a change to shine.
Fallen Earth has had a pretty damn smooth pre-launch for being a niche game. Official launch is tomorrow, although you can buy the game and start playing now (Steam, Direct2Drive). The game has some bugs, and it's lacking in polish in some areas such as the UI, but that stuff will come with time. I don't mind growing with them as long as they keep the game interesting. It's just nice to have something *different* to play.
