I posted this on the Aion Forum also...
Recently NCSoft announced an Aion promo in which people who have certain versions of the game are able to get wings for their characters in Guild Wars. On September 22nd you can log into your Guild Wars account and type /Aion and your characters can have wings. Though they are not usuable they can still have the Aion wings for looks.
The editions that do this for the player are the Aion Steelbook Edition and the Aion Limited Collectors Edition. Both of these are hard copies and available through retailers only! This is by no way fair!
I happend to be one of the people that purchased through the NCSoft site. And I purchased the 'Collectors Edition' so I could get into the beta and get the free items.
Both the regular version of Aion and the Collectors Edition have been both available for digital download through the NCSoft store. And both have allowed access to the beta days.
If I had known they were going to release 'ANOTHER' Collectors Edition, a 'Limited Collectors Edition'. complete with a music disc, figure, and artwork book, plus the new Guild Wars Wings promo, I would not have bought the digital download collectors edition. (The Digital Download Collectors Edition is also available through Steam btw).
I am sorry but this whole thing stinks! The Steelbook Edition and The Limited Collectors Edition should have been advertised before the digital download versions were available. It has only been in the past couple of weeks that you can pre-order these hard copy retailer items. What should have happened is they could have sold the hard copies to go to the homes first, and then use the key for the beta. The whole launch is horrible! It could be because that is what they did with 'Tabula Rasa'. But I don't care. It is very, very poor managed advertising.
It is not right that us digital download people get punished for putting our money out first! Its one of the worse/horrible displays of advertising for an MMO I have ever seen!! How many people are going to buy a hard copy at $10.00 more even though they have a digital download version already paid for!
It should have been handled differently with keys given away through a pre-order with companies such as Amazon.com. Others companies have done this and there is no excuse for this situaion to be as it is.
The only way I can figure out of this for NCSoft is to make a buyable pack available for the Aion Wings under Guild Wars. Which of course would mean more money for them. By the way, I also find extremely unfair!
Anyone else upset about this?

hey i have a idea lets make multiple threads about this !!!! stop crying/who cares i personally ordered a digital copy of ce and i could care less if i get wings in guild wars. guild wars 2 is coming out so why would i want wings in a game thats gonna be dead when its sequel comes out.
Which Final Fantasy Character Are You?
Final Fantasy 7
Not at all.
Could be because I bought the Limited Collectors Edition rather than buying the Digital Download for 10 bucks less.
Or, it could be because I don't play GW...
Take your pick.
Basically, you saved 10 bucks... are wings in GW worth 10 bucks to you?
In all honesty no they aren't worth the 10 bucks. Not to mention you can't use them so they are really good for nothing.
But there are those of us who like stupid add-ons such as this. Such as the pet packs in GW and in COH/COV the magic and science packs.
You didn't mention the art book, the figurine, and the music cd...

You're getting enough things for free, quit whining. It's just wings for another game entirely.
I WORK at gamestop and I know for a fact that you have been able to reserve the collectors edition for 3 months. I did so as soon as it was available.
All you needed to do was ask. Don't complain for your own mistake.
When I read the press release (not planning to look again) it stated in no ambiguous terms that the wings will only be available if the boxes are purchased from select retailers, amazon or target or gamestop or some such crap.
Retailers have been losing steam to Digital Distribution for years and giving out freebies /w purchased items have been a mainstay tactic of theirs.
I have no intention of purchasing another hard-copy of a video game again in my life, and thus far in GW just about every in-game pre order bonus has been delivered in the digital copy. I sincerely hope ANet won't make a similar misstep, but they've handled this kind of stuff better than NCSoft in the past.
They changed it. Put a ticket in a ncsoft surpport and they will give you a code for the wings.
Yeah, you just send support an email with your NCSoft account name and they'll hook you up. Chill.
Q: How do I get the Aion wings emote on my Guild Wars account?
A: Players who purchase an Aion Limited Collector's Edition or a first run SteelBook Edition at retail will be rewarded with an Aion wings emote code. Click here for a list of locations that carry Aion.
Q: I purchased a digital copy of Aion (for example, from the NCsoft store or from the Steam online store). How do I get the Aion wings emote on my Guild Wars account?
A: Players who purchase digital copies of Aion are now eligible for the Aion wings emote, too! After you've applied your Aion serial key to your NCsoft account, contact our support team by October 22nd with your NCsoft account name. Keys will be sent out to qualified players after September 20th.
