LF Fps hybrid game

As it states im currently looking for a fps hybrid game. Im getting sick of using magic and swords. Was wondering if there was any f2p or p2p games that take the best of both fps and mmorpg's. Something along the line with hellgate london and mass effect but based more around the weapons and have the skills or magic as secondary. I also dont mind if its an mmo or not just need something to kill time before borderlands comes out.
Also i know i could have post in the LFgame topic but i figured i would get better help from a separate thread.

You could give Neocron 2 a try, it's a FPS with guns, skills and a huge World, although it's sadly getting quite empty in the world becouse a lot of people are leaving to other games coz it is getting quite old.
Anyway, why is everyone I meet looking for a MMOFPS (not like CS or Gunz or Wolfteam...) and there is not one realy out there?
Earthrise will be a 3rd person shooter. Although it will still have significant RPG elements, after they released the first test vids of gameplay, they decided to make the combat faster paced. Keep an out for new videos, whenever they get around to releasing them that is.
If you want an immediate game, have you tried planetside?

There are alot of FPSRPGs, mmo or not, besides borderlands

First off thanks for the input ill be checking out all that where mentioned. And second TasTY your dumb. look at masseffect

2. you do get skills

Aside from Stalker, Gunz, Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, Bioshock, Bioshock 2, Huxley, Planetside, Global Agenda, All Points Bulletin, Fallout 3, etc?
I'm sure there are plenty more.
