At the moment i've been playing WoW some and been playing Champions online but kinda bored of it since i really enjoy being in groups but in CO i havn't noticed any real grouping chances just short little quests that may suggest some help to kill a guy...
was thinking Aion since i've heard it follows the base mmo type of game like WoW, LotR, WAR ect... so that makes me think it will have decent group play and yeah probably some blah quests and grinding but i'm fine with that if it leads to lots of group play that can be fun.
Fallen Earth i thought i would maybe like since i loved neocron2 along time ago before the population died out and the devs kinda stoped caring to fix bugs. but again i really like group play with that being the reason i play MMOs to being with. was kinda unsure about it tho thinking it could be to shooter focused rather than skill development and lacking the choice of being something like the PSI monks in neocron?
So would be nice if people post and i dont really care about the few word respones of people saying crap like AION sucks its just a grind or whatever about ether of them i would prefer it to be helpful thoughts about the games with what you like or dislike about the games as thought or if you've experianced them yourself

Hey,
At the moment i am playing FallenEarth and it looks promising. However, since i am in Europe i cant really play.
The only server they have is located in the US and it seems most European players experience horrible in game lags.
There is a post about it on the fallenearth forums, where they are trying to tackle the problem.. I know i slightly regret buying the game in this state as my "free" 30 days are going down the drain.
Since you are bored of WoW I'd suggest you play Fallen Earth, since Aion is very similar to WoW, And Fallen Earth actual makes some intristing innovations as far as mmo's go. I haven't tried FE yet but I was in Aion for awhile.., its pretty much the same mmo experience you find in most games, "kill x amount of mobs" quests, auto-attacking, pretty boring overall.
I haven't played Fallen Earth, but I have just bought Aion and I an enjoying it alot so far.
It follows a similar path to EQ2, WoW and LoTRo, as in it's another fantasy MMO. It seems to be well polished, and the character creation screen reminds me alot of EQ2, so I am not sure why some are calling it anime.
I guess the big question I would ask is, are you bored of the Genre, or just bored of having seen everything in WoW? If the genre is the issue the Fallen Earth would probably be the right route, but if you enjoy the MMO style of EQ2, WoW and the like, but just want something new and fresh to explore, the Aion could very well be the answer for you.
I am told that Aion is more 'grindy' than other MMO's, but I haven't seen that yet. If fact I am verymuch hoping to get back to grouping for XP in the ways of EQ and DAoC, rather than the WoW format of grouping for a mob or quest, then everyone disbanding and going their own way.
So, as I said I think the question comes down to whether you still enjoy the Genre or not.
Well I have tried both.. and both games definately offer something different. If asking me I would definately say Aion is the Superior of the 2 games. There are several reasons why. One polish. Aion is launching with just absolutely amazing polish. Its funny the same people you see arguing the game is just like WOW in one thread will be in another thread arguing the game is an asian grinder in another and they plan to go back to WOW.
points on each different game.
FE will offer you an amazing skill set.. you will end up making almost everything you use. However you will find yourself constantly having to GRIND (thats what people call it) crafting skills to keep up. If you love Crafting you will love this aspect of the game. The gameplay when you actually get into it can be fun if you like first person shooters. However with that being said there will be large expanses of nothing and not much content to drive you.. The 6 way faction system is pretty neat once you start goind down that road and can lead to some complex choices. Just make sure your friends are going down those same roads as you or at least an ally road. The graphics if that matters to you in this game are pretty much the suck. They looks amazingly aged, and dated. Also the Artistic style was definately just not for me. The gameworld was boring dull and bland. Dont get me wrong I love a good wasteland setting. Fallout 3 looked amazing. This game looks like I was going back towards EQ1 graphically speaking lol. Ohh another thing the game does not run well at all on alot of machines. Its almost like the early days of Vanguard.
Now onto Aion. Aion will start off very linear.. People will tell you the game plays to much like a themepark but the game starts to really open up at around level 20 and even more so at level 30.. The first 20 levels really are trying to get you into their gameworld that the developers took great attention to detail to create. The game will definately offer the usual post WOW game sense of go pick up quests rinse repeat. It will not be untill higher levels that you get to truly experiance the game aka the abyss or portal raids. To say its like WOW.. though is a HUGE missrepresentation. The game does take longer to level. Has more penalties to players if you mess up and all around offers more challenge. That added with more complexity in the combat system, and good class balance. I find it to be far superior to WOW. The PVP will offer risk vs reward with the addition of their abyss point system. The game world also looks absolutely amazing artistically. The game world graphics are not that advanced but well rendered. Character graphics are amazing though with fresh animations, and the game runs well on almost all machines... The whole argument of its just wow with wings.. I will just laugh at that. While in the abyss or in fly areas. Wings offer a whole new element in combat especially since you can fall to your death if your not keeping track. Right now though. With Aion you can expect about a 30 to 40 minute queue to get in the game on most servers during peak hours. This weekend they are suppposedly adding 1 new servers one NA one EU. should help some. The queue time will most likely say over an hour wait time. But I have been finding thats not been the case the last few nights. Now the first 2 days was pretty bad.. but as people have spread out. Its not taking the estimated time usually.
All in all I would give an Aion a 9 out of 10 rating at least for me. I kinda wish they would have added more starting areas or different beginning quest lines for the different classes at least. Other than that. I love it.. It really kinda brings back certain elements of gameplay from older games that i liked.
All in all I would give Fallen Earth a 4 out 10. Why? The graphics are terrible. To me thats a big part of immersion. The game engine is glitchy and doesnt run well, and also the game is lacking in content. maybe in later levels players will make up for this lack somewhat with PVP but Aion offers that with good content to boot. Also I look to the future. This game has a good chance of having a small niche community. Which is great if your in the game with a good set of friends. however It could very easily go the way of the Matrix if they cant get enough support. Personally I dont see that happening. As soon as a GOOD post apocalyptic game comes out. I can easily see this one getting left behind.
Hmmm... Complaining about content in a sandbox game? new to the genre? usually a sandbox game will only have optional quests and a world full of mobs to kill mixed with a reason to kill eachother.
Anyway, to the OP I tend to play games that give me something different. Aion is the same shit I've been playing forever, FE is totally new.
My ratings? Aion gets a 3 and FE a 7. FE has tons of work to become an awesome game while Aion will be the same game forever. Basically Lineage 2.5 with wings.
Edit: dont get upset by my ratings, I would give WoW a 4/10 overall and considering WoW is a much better game than Aion I had no choice but to give it a 3.

I prefer playing the same shit i'v been playing for years with upgraded graphics new and innovating features than playing a game which has -10 year graphics ,animations and all that crap i'd rather play chess than playing that relic

Give me a game(mmo) that actually has flying combat , jees one more with pvpve features gogo
.
Flyff? PWI? And a few more Asian grinders.
Also your precious little pvpve BS is nothing but a dungeon in a contested area lol!!!
If you played mmos before Wow you would have seen non-instanced dungeons that let players not only fight for boss kills but pvp for more than just a lame ladder system aswell.
LOL! the guy brings up Wings as an innovative feature, seriously how sad!

U obviously haven't played any aion endgame yet , u just have an opinion from some videos u'v seen , and yes FE is totally a better game , LOL
.
Considering AION brings nothing new to the table, FE is a much better game.
Atleast for people that are sick and tired of the whole themepark mmo BS.

Oh wow, you actually think graphics makes a game good?
No but when u are playing a VIRTUAL game i guess graphics do matter A LOT that's why im saying better play chess instead of FE , same graphics better gameplay , lol
.
I would argue that a virtual game would rely more on immersion than graphics. Therefore I rather be playing a game that plays and acts realistically rather than one that "I press the 1 key to attack , 2 to use skill, wait for cooldown, repeat". And seriously, you are exaggerating by saying FE looks like a 10 year old game. I'd be blown away if I saw something like that in 1999.
Honestly, Fallen Earth's gameplay isn't much different from WoW. You still gather a bunch of quests, and knock them out. Playing at a casual, yet steady pace, it took me a week to get to lvl 7. It doesn't feel grindy, in fact I like the slow rate of progression, but you can't fault AION for grindiness when I've already reached lvl 15 with the same casual , yet steady pace I used in Fallen Earth. It's only been 3 days since I've been playing AION too.
There difference between the two games is the size of the world you explore at the low levels, so far, and how your character develops. AION is class based, and you buy skills every 3 levels, and Fallen Earth is Action Point based, where you spend AP as you get it on skills you want to improve.
I personally prefer AION, because there's a lot less stability problems, it looks better, and plays better.
I thought about the same for a while, FE or Aion. Somehow Aion was tempting because of the character creator and the nice graphics. But then I remembered how quickly I got bored of the standard MMORPGs. Also I like MMORPGs with rather large zones, good crafting and a rather mature community. All that considered, I guess I'll give the FE devs a few more days/weeks to fix the worst bugs and then I'll give it a try.
Or I'll just buy Anno 1404. Looks like fun as well. If it should wouldn't have this horrible ugly copy protection system, which by itself would be reason enough to boycott Ubisoft.
Let's play Fallen Earth (blind, 300 episodes)
Let's play Guild Wars 2 (blind, 45 episodes)
Give Aion graphics to Fe and i would agree :P

From about 6th level in in Champions on line you can fly and fight anywhere if you take a flight movement power. There are no restrictions.
BTW- I like Aion but don't think that flight in some areas is all that inovative. PVPVE is more inovative and will probably be the thing that keeps people playing.
Also, I did a little review of FE towards the end of Beta on my Blog if you are interested.

You posted several times in a row, doing nothing but taunting other forum members. Chill the fuck out, seriously.
Every MMO that releases doesn't have to bring innovation to the genre, just as every FPS, RPG, RTS, and etc. doesn't have to in the single player industry. Some people like a particular package of features with a new story, and updated graphics to play with rather than a completely foreign gamestyle. Others prefer to take innovation in doses, such as every 5-7 years or so.
At any rate, the poster several posts above said that Fallen Earth lacked content. Well, I only made it to lvl 7, but I had to of done a few hundred quests already and my quest journal was always full. I had to pass on many quests, and come back to them as I got room. Since level 4, I've had a full quest journal. But I agree with everything else that poster said.
Again, to the poster I'm quoting, chill out. This isn't serious business and it isn't cool to freak out on the forums and treat people like garbage.

Oh wow, you actually think graphics makes a game good?
Graphics doesn't make a game good, but it does make a game more or less immersive. To some people, immersion ranks equal to gameplay.
If you are bored with the type of game play wow, war, lotro and such gives you then i must suggest fe. it seems to be a great game with quite dull graphic. i myself has played it for around 4 hours and it has given me some hope for the mmo genre when i interacte with other players.

Personally I'd go with FE. Its not as pretty as Aion but it "feels" right if that makes any sense.
FE's core game is just more complex and challenging, the further you get into it the more you realize you are swimming in a VERY deep pool of water.
To be fair though FE has a few patches to go through before its going to knock your socks out of the gate so if you have the cash and time you might want to play Aion for a few months and see if that does it for you, then try FE.
If it has to be one or the other, Fallen Earth. It ultimately will give you the better bang for your buck.
As for grouping I think both games are the same, you can group if you want at lower levels but its not needed. I don't know how much is required in Aion after level 20. FE you will need to start grouping to finish some missions after level 14 unless you bypass them. Players in both games seem to be amendable to pick up groups.
"kinda unsure about it tho thinking it could be to shooter focused rather than skill development and lacking the choice of being something like the PSI monks in neocron?"
FE has multiple skill paths to follow, melee being one so its not a strict shooter. It uses mutagenics that are similiar to psi or magic etc. Mutations work in a branching tree system with basics branching out into specialties. Example my character is a rifleman with sonic and primal mutations. Primal are buffs like longstride for speed and sonic is a direct damage mutation, sorta does what it sounds like, a scream that makes the baddies ears bleed.
Bingo.
The other big thing keeping me from trying FE is the poor PvP implementation. They have six different factions that you are supposed to be enemies or allys with, but from what I hear, guilds are just recruiting any faction, so there really is no animosity between factions, at least for now. The only reasons for the factions are for grinding rep to acquire skills and gear. Pretty disappointing. Reminds me of the Bane server in Age of Conan.
Vault-Tec analysts have concluded that the odds of worldwide nuclear armaggeddon this decade are 17,143,762... to 1.

Who's treating people like garbage? I think all of you guys need thicker skins, maybe its the fact that I'm from NYC that none of this shit really bugs me at all. The poster I was going back and forth with quoted me first because he obviously didn't like the rating I gave Aion lol.
Then he says Aion has superior graphics (which I agree with) and New and innovative features (which is utter bullshit) so I called him out on it a bit lol.
Maybe you need to chill?

I just woke up & I thought I'd take a look over at MMORPG.com & I see this thread... read a bit & I have to come to the conclusion that the FE(boring excuse of a sandbox) fanboiz are out & kicking.
Seriously? FE over Aion! whatever... I played the beta & I can say that I rarely seen a game with such bad gameplay, clucky animations, bland graphics ( oh no! can't say that. Graphic is not important at all & its not a part of the immersion in a virtual world right? Yeah right...), crappy UI, etc...
Fine play what you wish. lol
Aion is nothing new, but its polished, beautiful, well balanced, has a great story & can easily hook you up for a few months while you wait for something better if you happen to get tiered of it. Some great games are coming up, just wait, FE isn't worth it imo.
