First, I'd just like to make it clear that these are my personal opinions of the game so far. Other people will obviously see Aion differently.
Am near lvl 26 and let me just point something out real quick; the first 20 lvls are most fun.
It gets incredibly repetitive after the first 20 levels, but even worse is that there is almost no class customization at all since Stigmas are just another piece of equip that gives a new spell/skill. You only got a few slots, there arnt many of them and everyone gets the same ones anyway so they're basically just more expensive versions of spells/skills to your arsenal.
Grind gets notably worse the higher lvl you are. There is almost nothing to look forward to when leveling. Even the graphics get worse at higher levels (designers got very lazy and it all looks flat, bland, lack of texture and creativity past lvl 20 in the other major zones).
I've done some rift groups, did some abyss ganking with decent success as solo and in groups but that too is really starting to feel more like work than playing for fun. Grind abyss points to rank up rather than XP to lvl up. First few kills are fun but that quickly fades as its all the same after a short while.
The higher lvl you get, the more it becomes like lineage 2 all over again.
Dont know if it gets more fun with some more variety at later lvls but right now its a turn off with so many grind quests and each class doing the same thing over and over and over again.
P.S. PvP is a zerg fest. Skill is very insignificant. The best, most alert, aware and knowledgeable player in the world is only just very slightly better than any random dude if they have same gear, ping, lvl etc

I think this is a true player's review without commercial purpose.
I've played until almost 30 in the beta's and the higher I got, the more I enjoyed the game. I didn't feel a grind at all.
To each their own, I guess.

What class were you?
OP as well, what class did you play?
Not too sure about the gring here either. I play a few hours a day and am lvl 19 easy. If you look on the server stats you see ppl lvl 37 already game has been out less then a week and ppl are getting max lvl ??
Played Aoc/DDO/FFXI/WAR / LoTRo / CO / Aion
Playing Rift
Waiting for FFXIV to be the game it should. so sad =(
Well OP i see that your getting near the level to go to the instance dungeon around your level, granted that yes it feels similair to L2 but your just starting to get to where the variety is starting to kick in. Your gonna have to assess if it's worth it to continue or give up. As far as the PvP, well yes zerg warfare is here to stay but there is small scale PvP around from what i have seen so far.
If people can get max level in a week I think that it is either 1 of 2 things. Either people have too much time on their hands or the game lacks quality depth. I Know when I was in beta it was quite simple to get to level 20 very easily. I still give it 3-4 months before people get really bored.

As I mentioned the first 20 lvl's are superb. So much exploring, finding new quests all over the place, nice landscapes with plenty cliffs, bridges spanning over huge rivers tons of atmosphere. Good mix of questing and killing too but that all changes after lvl 22'ish. You're asked to farm 20 items from these, kill 25 of those, find 15 of these relics etc, all in the same area which you will spend the next 4-6 hours or so till you got a lvl and a bit. Then the same thing again in another bland, flat, boring place with textures that you see in games from 2004 and that have tons of mobs just spread all over.
lol really.
I'm 25 and the grind kicks in bad now. Did these 100x repeatable quests alot and even though i burned through them with my Sorc-mate, the content is grind at it's best. Levels come in craaawling.
Each new questhub provides like 3-4 interesting quests and then you have to grind the 100x quests over and over again. We run out of quests in every new zone quickly and hang in for hours of grind after. If not, then the quests only send you to talk to person A to B to C to D to...
I'm wondering where the 1000+ quests are that are supposed to be put in with 1.5.
I assume this number contains the 100x quests and the calculation went like "we put in 12 of 100 times repeatable quests and so we've got 1200 new quests in the game".
Not really, you should be doing instances soon and group PvP.
Zerg? i wouldn't really call it zerg since it's not 50v50 it's more of a group/tactic system where you have 5v5 happening in the abyss, the better team wins... gear might play a role but those with more skill will obviously triumph.
Aion is great and i'm not saying that from a fanboy perspective. I have been waiting since 2006 for this game and it turned out to be everything i wanted it to be. (excluding auto attack.. need to fix that ncsoft!)
I hope you stick around anyway, level's 40-50 are great.
Never judge an mmo solely based on the leveling... nobody likes leveling, end game is when most if not ALL mmo's shine.
at 25 you get pvp xp in the abyss, if you dont like pvp aion isnt a game for you, goodbye
