I did enjoy DDO, and had a few interested friends (IRL) who declined due to the monthly fee. Now that it's free to play, I'm going to approach them again. I have only one question. I heard something about 'leveling tokens'. Now, my intent is to have a dedicated party, playing together. My concern is that, even if we play together, the same adventures, that we may level at a different pace due to these tokens. Keep in mind it's the free to play model that would attract them, so we wouldn't want to buy them at the store.
So...what are the tokens? If you get them all, can you hold off on leveling up until friends collect them all, too? I just worry that even if we adventure together, that we'll split apart in levels because one member is luckier then the other in finding tokens.
How does all of this work, and should I be concerned?
Thanks,
-Xerek

Your friends would be able to get them from the store and not spend money. Turbine points can be earned through favor. The tokens allow you to get past certain levels they do not make you level or affect your EXP.
Encourage your friends to spend a little money in the shop as going completely F2P will in no way help Turbine turn DDO around and make money to add content.
You need tokens to get past levels in groups of 4, but if you do not get them you can still earn EXP towards your next level. You should all find your sigils before you reach level 4, but there is always the chance of some being luckier than others, but you can save your Turbine points and get a sigil without spending money.
You will never get them all until you are doing the quests in that level range. For instance you will not find the higher level sigils in low level quests.
When you aquire a leveling sigil in what ever way you do so it immediately applies the ability to level up beyond your previous level limit. You can't keep it in your inventory until you want to increase your level limit.
You don't have to level up once you get enough XP for it though. The group can repeat some quests until everybody is ready for the next level range. Once you hit enough XP to level you will continue to gain XP until you are 1xp from a 2nd level-up (you used to be able to hold more XP than that but they lowered it with mod9/DDO:EU).

I have had no issues finding the copper leveling sigils by level 3 to date. They are available as quest rewards in several of the harbor quests.

well there is an optimal level for each instance so if you are doing a quest while being above the optimal level -youll get less exp. this encourages people to find groups...
anyway you earn favor by completing quests which converts into turbine points. so you can buy those sigils if you arent lucky.
by completing all korthos quests youll have 75 or so turbine points. a 5-8 sigil costs 50 points.
Whats up with all these people who have endless amounts of time to play MMO's but dont want to or cant afford to spend a single cent ???? If its a good game.. why not cough up a few bucks now and then to support it..? and if you really cant afford it.. one has to ask why you are playing MMOs in the first place. They are time consuming endeavors at best

Yes, all those 12 year olds, college students, people on disability, retired pnp gamers, etc... should go out and get full time jobs (which don't exactly grow on trees at the moment). Just because somebody can't justify spending $15 a month on a video game doesn't mean they spend the day sitting on the couch.

I've had good luck in this as well for the copper sigils (lv 5-8) and have pulled one in my first couple reward lists after hitting the harbor with 2 characters. Hoping the 9-12 one shows up soon
