So i am still looking between these two games, I want a Great Sandbox MMO with a fiar amount of focus on PVP. I feel like as a game EVE has a lot of its issues worked out with gameplay and all, and Darkfall being new doesnt. (please correct me if i am wrong, i am kinda new to both). And what is large scale pvp like in both games, EVE i hear gets to calling a target and just focus firing, idk if thats fun, doesnt realy sound fun, but how do you know befor you try? Darkfall i hear just goes to mass AoE and such, but that could be a thing that developers might fix out.
Can you guys please compair and contrast the two games for me. and i know about the obviouse differances, im looking for more later in the game ones.
Plz help

Well i can't really compair for you but I did play EVE and it was a great game, even if you didn't have alot of time on your hands. Since you could just log out and your skills would still train off-line. Its a point and click with a ton of ways you can go in the game. Depending on what you want to be, miner, trader, pvp, whatever, its kinda nice. If your into PvP you would have to get into a guild/(forgot what they call it) otherwise you would get the snot kicked out of you. You can really mirco manage alot of things if your into that sort of thing... Sorry never played darkfall though
I have never played Eve. Darkfall, is full loot, FPS Style pvp. The entire game of Darkfall is centered around pvp and seiges etc. IT is not near as sand boxy as SWG though. There is a large grind in Darkfall as well. However it is still alot of fun.
It depends what you really are after.
Darkfall have the FPS realtime combat, so its very demanding to play. Compared to normal MMOs.
EVE is a bit more "thinking" i guess.
Either way you go its a Win for sandbox games.
Support games that try to be different and not ones the deliver the same old crap we've been playing since EQ.
Variety is a good thing, UO, EvE, DF, FE, Ryzom and other sandbox games keep this genre innovative and fresh.
I refuse to put a Sandbox vs a sandbox as I try to support all of them if I can.

Darkfall and EVE are the best games on the market if you want the freedom to make your own path.
EVE is a space game, while Darkfall is a sword and magic game.
EVE has a targeting system, and skill over time, while Darkfall is more of a FPS where your sword gains skill by swinging it (and hitting the target).
Darkfall is full loot with clan warfare, city sieges. I am not sure if you can destroy or capture space stations in 0.0 space in EVE, but you can loot some parts from a ship you kill.
EVE has more protected areas than Darkfall, so Darkfall is more hardcore and open enviroment.
Edit: The grind is mostly gone in Darkfall now, as someone above commented that there was a huge grind. That is, unless you want every single skill at 100. Only someone insain would do that. EVE online has a similar system, you can have every single skill, it just takes 11 full years to do it, so you need to be a little more crazy to get everything in EVE.
The definition of insanity: doing the same thing over and over expecting different results.
When/if you login to Darkfall for the first time, you will notice how the world around you look very nice, especially the lightning, the trees, rocks... everything is amazing! After awhile though, you will see another char run past and you wont belive your eyes. What was that? What did you just see? ...and your eyes will start to bleed... heavily... from the almost amazingly poor done animations you just saw.
First you will laugh, but then you will become very silent as you realise this isnt a Monty Python movie and that you actually paid for it. It will be hard to belive animations can be that bad, but after a few minutes you will accept the fact that this game has the worst animations ever made in a computer game. Ever. In fact, they are so bad that you risk laughing yourself to death when first seeing them.
Oh god lol. Yeah this is the realization I came to by watching the darkfall videos. The world looks fracking beautiful, I love gritty fantasy rather than the cartoonish style of WoW or most current mmos, but hell those animations are horrid. Like from a pc game in the 90's.
These are two very different games.
One is a fantasy RPG game the other is a spreadsheet in space. Take your pick.

Really, there is no way to compare them, the game styles are so different that they require a completely different mind set when playing one or the other.
You have tried both, I would suggest that you play the one that attracts you the most NOW and enjoy the ride without thinking of the "endgame". Live that game until it becomes boring or repetitive or whatever. When that happens stop that sub and start playing the other game, again enjoying the ride instead of thinking of the "endgame". There is no real endgame in these two games, their purpose is to immerse you into their respective virtual worlds.
Please, don't make the mistake of transforming the experience into a mindless grind race to get more and more skills.

Don't listen to this guy, he's trying to derail your thread into a hater vs fanboi Eve debate. Only spreadsheet aspect of eve is studying the market, since you compare prices and its kind of complicated.
Both of these games have a lot to offer a player willing to give it a serious go with either of them. All I could really do is give you a tidbit of info on what I do in both games and hopefully it will help you a bit.
In Eve I have two Avatars. One is a pvp pilot currently living in low sec, I mostly fly a HAC (Heavy Assault Cruiser) the Ishtar or a Force Recon the Pilgrim. Both ships are great for both solo or small gang work. I mostly roam and pvp and my corp is in a much bigger alliance that deals with all three areas of Eve so I have access to 0.0 wars, low sec roaming pvp and camps and high sec Wardecs and other stuff.
My second character is a Level IV mission runner and into exploration, He flies a Gallente Battleship the Dominix. its a great drone ship with a dual repper cap stable setup that lets me basically Afk high level missions if I wanted, He also scans out wormholes, combat sites and even does a little bit of 0.0 Ratting when he gets access through a wormhole.
As you can see I'm more into combat roles in Eve so I don't really have much of an opinion on the industrial side of the game since it's not my thing.
In DF I play one character A Archer/melee combat specialist. Im more of a loner in this game, while im in a guild/alliance I normally travel solo use terrain as an advantage with picking off enemies and hunt rare mobs and explore ruins and caves and such. I know the terrain so well I can virtually explore without being bothered by a single person for a few days. It's relaxing and I enjoy it. I get into the pvp aspect of the game when my alliance needs me or when I feel threatened by another player out in the wild. With the exception of crafting my own Arrows and gathering a bit I don't really get into the meat and potatoes of crafting.
I know I didn't cover a whole lot about the mechanics of each game like Fps combat in DF and Rts point to click combat in Eve but I find both games innovative compared to the normal themeparks we have now and the freedom alone in these games will have me playing them for years on and off.

eve is a good game, but like in every game it all depends on players you play with.
thats why its a mmo is it not? :]
pvp is great in eve... its just it may take a lot of tries and some guidance (not just in information, but to group with you as well) to get a hang of it.
I'm not trying to derail anything. That's what the game was when i played it and that's how it is today.
Here's a great example of the excitement that awaits you in Eve:

Eve Online is about as far from the action as you can get.

Typical uninformed post
Eve and Darkfall are both great games. I play them both. What makes these games great is you can make them as fun or as boring as you want. If you have no imagination then EvE can be exactly like the video. I personally like exploring, PvP, and selling the loot I get from rats and other players. So if you have a functioning brain EvE can be the best and most exciting MMO you will ever play. Darkfall is the same way but a little less welcoming to noobs. Be prepared to die allot in Darkfall until you gain enough skill to hold your own.
I personally like Darkfall a bit more than EvE for 1 reason. In Darkfall you control how you advance in the game. EG you swing your sword it hits a player or mob you gain a point in that skill. Everything you do in Darkfall makes your toon stronger. Walking, swimming, you name it all grows the more you use them. In EvE it is time based. So no matter how hard you work your skill will take X amount of time to get it. It has its advantages like less hacking and macros but some people have a hard time when you click on the ship skill you want and it says 3 weeks to learn.
I recommend both games, both are fantastic, but it takes a curtain kind of gamer to enjoy them. Don’t expect to be spoon fed here. I 100% agree with Metal Head. Listen to him he know what he is talking about.
This is my first post here on MMORPG. I just had to respond after years of reading since you are talking about my 2 favorite games.
