Returning to an old account?

Is It possable to play the free version of DDO with an exsisting account?  I Played a few years ago and had fun but had to stop due to real world concernes.  Will I be allowed to play on that account ? or will I be forced to create a new one?

I was able to play it on an old trial account that I had, so I would think that you would be able to on a deactivated sub account as well.

Yes, after you download and patch your account automatically converts to DDO Eberon Unlimited.  Although you might want to consider becoming a VIP member (sub) or else ya gotta buy the higher level areas and such seperately and as you get higher level they give you less and less areas to level in. :-

    Currently playing EverQuest 2

All of your characters and gear should still be on your old account and ready to use.

If you were on a trial before you will have the normal free to play account setup.

If you purchased/subscribed to the original game at any time (even 3 years ago) you get 2 extra character slots, no limits on auction and mailbox use, and you possibly some Christmas and downtime gifts in your inventory.

I played in Europe hosted by Codemaster. If I reinstalled DDO, can I login to play for free?

No, not with the Codemaster version of DDO. If you want to play for free you'll have to download the US version and create a new account. You can get it here:
