Hello,
I am looking for a free to play UO style game. I love the skill system, I would also love a game with similar graphics but updated of course. Does this game type exist. I enjoy the over top view of UO. BTW I have not played it since the graphics update. Is it worth going back too. I haven't played it for like 10 years. I hope someone can help.
God Bless,
Dustin

Play a free UO shard. There's a zillion out there. Pick your flavor.
Just a heads up I think you can get banned from forums if you talk of free shards.
UO is somewhat better with the graphics as they were "enhanced" but it is still the original type of top down style of graphics this was was 3D graphics enhanced and actual 3D. As fora free to play version I have yet to test or play anything that was a close to UO since I stopped playing it, I mean there are game out there with the housing system or the increase certain skills, now I have yet to run across a game that went into trying all these features but I am sure waiting to see one that is full 3D.
I doubt we will ever see a fully 3D UO type game unless they actually decide to settle down and actually make another UO or a UO spinoff.

It was the original development project when they grabbed the SPAWN creator to do their graphics but sadly it was dropped and the work was put into the expansions are are still seeing come alive but we can always hope.
Yea I remember when Todd MacFarlen was attached to a UO2 project and then they ahd Ultima X Odyessy or what not. I really did enjoy Ultima IX despite all the bugs and crap it had, but it was very interactive and such like Ultima Online but 3D if they could update that engine and make it an MMO that would be awesome. I would actually love to see ye Ole Lord British (richard garrot *can't spell* ) get involved in a new MMO that is a fantasy setting. Tabula Risa I heard sucked...

F2P stands for "Free to Pay"...
While waiting on the next subscription based MMO I am interested for, I have been trying many F2P...many, because often I get upset the moment the game asks me to pay in order to keep progressing, and I promptly uninstall the game and look for the next one.
I keep reading some feedback that some F2P are actually descent and you can play them fully without any transactions, but most impose them at some point, so things are not as they seem.
Fan maintained Shards would be your best bet, or heck resub to the real thing, UO is still going you know
Order of the Silver Star, OSS

Yea I would pay to play UO but I am poor due to not working since Dec. due to having major brain surgery and then an arterial bypass done. I just now around month or two ago been released to be able to sit down at a computer etc. I also have a wife and child which makes money quite tight. I just look for something to do while the baby is taking her nap after I get the dishes and such done while my wife is at work. As for a free shard or what ever I will be honest I have tried a few and I get disappointed cause they either edit the crap out of the game and also they aren't quite all that populated so to speak

BTW right now I am playing Runes of Magic and Spellborn, D&D online with my brother and sister-in-law and none of them can hold my intrest.
Jeez man, that sounds rough. I wish you a speedy recovery.
Maybe try out Regnum Online? It's got a cool RvR endgame. There's an item shop, but you can play without it. It's from an Argentinian developer, but they have an English server.
It doesn't get a lot of recognition around here but I enjoy playing it as a break from the P2P games.

Oh, and check out Ashen Empires (www.ashenempires.com). It's kind of similar to UO, but not nearly as much of a sandbox. It's also Item Shop supported. Not a bad game. Definitely old school.
