Seriously? FE over Aion! whatever... I played the beta & I can say that I rarely seen a game with such bad gameplay, clucky animations, bland graphics ( oh no! can't say that. Graphic is not important at all & its not a part of the immersion in a virtual world right? Yeah right...), crappy UI, etc...
Fine play what you wish. lol
Aion is nothing new,  but its polished, beautiful, well balanced, has a great story & can easily hook you up for a few months while you wait for something better if you happen to get tiered of it. Some great games are coming up, just wait, FE isn't worth it imo.

Problem with Aion is its the same shit we've already been playing. Yeah it looks nice and is polished and all that but how long until it gets stale? one maybe two months when I get tired of farming dungeons or players for ladder standing?

At least FE is different, sure its a bit rough around the edges but as time goes on more and more features will be added making FE the clear choice for someone like me over the long haul.

Why would I pick a game thats going to give me maybe two months of fun when I could go with a game that I could be playing for years?

Oh and to players just mmo jumping one or two months at a time, you might as well give up now because that perfect game will never come.

To start Metalhead trolls every forum he enters.... At least from what I have seen.

As for Aion offering the same ole same ole. To some degree that is true.. ALL MMOs to some degree have that. What Aion does a great job with is offering a more interactive combat experiance with more chain type abilities and reactive abilities. The way the timers are set up on those chains and reactives makes you  have to be a little more consious of what your doing instead of just button mashing... Dont get me wrong you can sit there and button mash, thats where you will start to distinguish the good players from the bad.

As for flight being revolutionary? Naa its not. However a good combat system based around flight is. And Aion has delivered on that aspect. The timer system they have put in place not only creates a since of urgency when you are engaged in ariel combat and also implicates a 3rd dimension in strategy. It also is another way in determining how to customize your character in gear and stats.. From faster flight speeds to longer flight times. They all play an important roll.

For example a Gladiator who puts mana stones and titles and gear to enhance his flight speed will overtake the kiting sorceror or ranger who is designed to kite for long periods of time. allowing the Gladiator a tactical advantage. Unless he cant kill his target in time. And he has to look for a ledge to land on or risk falling to his death.

Also gathering/harvesting abilities go the same way. There RARE harvestables up in the air that are WAY out of the way.. You have to watch yourself when you are going at them.

Ohh and one last thing. As for me being new to the genre... naah. i have been MMOing since EQ1 beta.. So I am in no way new to the genre. I know the difference between sandbox and themepark... Personally normally I prefer a mix of the 2 like Vanguard did. I like background stories and campaign quest linesmixed in with my sandbox.. Aion I did say is more of the themepark it opens up though in the higher levels. In the lower levels I like the themepark giving you the background of the world your entering. I personally believe they could have given more earlier options. But it opens up.. and becomes more of a themepark hybrid. With larger more open areass, where you choose what to do.

As for Aion getting old in 2 months. I dont think that will happen.. 1 it takes longer to level at the higher levels for the casual gamer... 2. the abyss point system will keep people competitive for longer durations. Also contested Zones and mobs make for a more staunch game than all instanced based crap that everyone has access to.

Aion is like a Mix of EQ1 and WOW with Either lineage or DAoC thrown in... It takes the good points from several of those games and puts a new more polished twist on them. Its a great game. To the OP.. If your looking for a good game. I will state again Aion is definately the better of the 2.

Eh... It bothers me that you rate a game better than the other without playing (or in the least mentioning the you have played) the other. As far as Aion doing some things different lets see. We had skill chains in FF11. Having to fly to harvest something? That's the equivalent to going in some dangerous place out of the way place in any mmo for loot or materials, nothing new there. I'm not saying Aion a bad game, but I can't personally play a game with so few innovations simply because its the newest flavor of the month. You can polish something and make it better ten times over and people will play it, or you can try doing something different and interesting so you aren't playing a rehash of the same game for two decades.

As far as Metalhead goes, In all honesty the dude he was flaming seems to have said something pretty ignorant in just about every post, and he did start it. >_>

Hey OP, it's obviously up to you really to decide based upon what type of game you want, and what you define as being important in a game for you.

I can only say that I've beta tested both Aion and Fallen Earth, I've Purchased Fallen Earth and got Aion free (former TR subscriber) and I can honestly say that as things stand, around 30 days from now I will be giving my money in the form of a sub to Fallen Earth,  I don't think I'll be subscribing to Aion. When I'm rushing home from work with a burning urge to spend a few hours in a digital world, it has been Fallen Earth I've gone running to, Aion just didn't do it for me really.

If your a Euro player i would say Aion ( and ive never played it )  because the servers for Fallen Earth come down around 6-7pm. GMT or 2pm ET

Now for me thats not good as i get home from work and have a few hours to play the game, but when they up date the servers for 3 days in a row and i dont get any time to play the game, it makes me think why should i pay for a game i cant play when i have the time to.

Then theres the Lag, Alot of euro players are asking for a euro server and alot of euro players are getting alot of lag, more so in the towns. I understand its a new game, but its not finished.

I loved this game before i got more lag and more downtimes, to me they have'nt finished the game yet. Ive just cancelled my account and im not sure ill come back, its all a matter of when the game gets finished.

Simply put FE. This is based on personal expierences though. I have played 80% of mmos since UO and Fallen Earth just appeals to my likes. Im a bit of a gun nut so of course this is the game for me.

Every mmo that I have played im either an Sin or Ranger of some sort. Well now in fallen earth i can make all my weapons and ammo till my gun nut ego is content. Dont get me wrong Aion is truly awesome but i liked games suck as Lineage 2 Rf online ffxi EQ2. However I was getting tired of the same ol look and feel of fantasy games. As a matter of fact I was all set on buying Aion even pre ordered it until about 2 weeks ago. I played the OB and CB for it.  Something just clicked may have been the youtube videos of Fallen Earth that I watched. Basically what it comes down to is your likes. However I know that we won't be seeing to many kiddies in Fallen Earth because the game doesn't hold your hand. This is going to put a more mature audience around which is another +. That is one of the reasons why I played ffxi for so many years the community was mature.

Anyway my opinion is that you can't go wrong with either. For me though FE all the way I know ill be around in this game for another few years of my life. Wow i'm getting old.

just a sidenote im gonna play Aion later maybe this summer and can't wait for APB to release as well.

Well most of it was helpfull got me thinking about it more and i think i decided i'm going to try Aion for now mainly because i know a few people playing that and no one in FE... At somepoint i'll probably try FE unless SWtoR comes out before i get tired of Aion.

Thanks for posting and keeping the one sided game sucks sort of posts out

I played Fallen Earth and Aion.  I hated Fallen Earth.  While it had some cool concepts the execution was.. lacking.  A good post apocolyptic mmo would be awesome but it looks like I need to wait.

Things I did not like about Fallen Earth:

Combat seemed 'squishy'.  I really did not get a sense of impact.

Character models for enemies were very stiff (well animations at least).

The outdoor terrains are SEVERELY lacking.  They almost look cartoonish compared to the indoor environments.  It really surprised me when I went outdoors.

Enemy AI is lacking - I could stand in front of an enemy for quite  while before they finally responded that i was there.

The tutorial is pretty neat though and the story/concept is very cool.  I just feel that the the implementation needs a lot of work.

Note that all of these are my opinions and are subjective, I realize that other people may love the game.

(having played both, I am playing Aion).  Aion is not perfect, but to me, it seems to have a better MMO implementation.  However, I will note that I love pretty graphics...

    lol

Again I just woke up I decided to come here to read a bit & what I see?! More FE everywhere... seriously now, I'm speachless.

FE is now the most voted released game at 8.50 rating. What the f... please tell me people don't truely like this game. The game is pathetic. Wow! Just wow... there's things things that I will never understand.

Enjoy whatever game you like I supposse. I'm done here. :)

You made an earlier post saying the exact same thing.

You really don't have much to do besides bash games huh?

Really seriously both FE and Aion groups need to settle down.  Each has their benefits and each has their drawbacks.  It boils down two to things:  Futuristic Sci-fi or Fantasy.

You mentioned you played Neocron2 and enjoyed it, although FE lacks the defined classes(Droner for example) I think if your looking for a game like Neocron2, I'd go with FE, if your looking for anything else, go with Aion.

  • I was really hoping this thread would help me make the same decision as the OP. Making sense of what people are saying is a nightmare though, as is trying to judge whether people criticising a game have an agenda or not.

FE seems the greater risk. Designed for a niche market, how am I supposed to know I am part of that niche?? I don't particularly want to pay a lot of money to find out. Even critics admit Aion is highly polished, whereas a common admission about FE is that it is rough around the edges and there may be problems playing it.

On the other hand, after stints in LOTRO, Vanguard, TCoS and WoW I really do not think I can stomach the "kill 10 rat-like humanoids" experience again. I also seriously doubt I will enjoy a mid/end-game that is PvP oriented - I like teamwork PvE. The words asian grind also make me want to run the opposite direction, as fast as possible.

I guess I will end up not playing either game... but if I cave I will take the high risk and try FE. I've found some helpful reviews/previews of Aion, but not Fallen Earth. If anyone wants to point me to one, I'd be grateful.

It's simple to me. Having tested both. Fallen Earth was a clunky mess with a good looking world. But impossible to play and have fun at the same time. (failing at the FPS aspect really hurt it to me)

Aion was fun and beautiful......but the replay value was lacking.

Aion, hmm what can you say besides boring, been there done that feeling. I can t remember a game that bored me more. FE haven t played it enough to really judge, but what I did play it wasn t very good. I guess i ll conclude by saying neither. Better games will be out soon enough.

I preorder Aion a couple months before release. I played during the Closed Beta Events and cancelled my preorder afterwards. It just wasn't for me. Same ol shite.

I'm currently playing FE and have been since closed beta. I'm loving it and I hope to keep playing for a long time.
