I will make 2 characters. I like the diversity. One I will play on my PS3 the other on my PC or vice versa. Im really excited about this game and cannot wait for it. Unfortunately, I just landed my dream job and will have to make sure that I study for new certs but... Time is going to be sparse, but I will make a big effort to play again!

Ive always been fond of bard. I know FF wont have bards but I think if I could play a melee oriented character with a wide range of utility that would be close enough.
I plan on making a male character(hume or elf), as for location I will decided when more detail arise and as for class, well i think Im just going to take full advantage of the system and see what i get.

Well i'm new to this FF mmo sorta thing, so I don't know the towns and servers =p But i'm just captivated by someone taking one of my favourite games (monster hunter) and trying to make an mmo of it
So i'd probably be:

Role: going for either healer or buff/debuffer, loving the magic. Might collect tank gear too if it's needed, I wanna be in groups ALL the time
Crafting: armor/clothes i guess, anything alchemy like is always good.
Server: errr Quetzacotl after the server my ff friend plays atm...

If I think about what character I make ill spend way too much time. When I first started FFXI my friends were waiting for me to make my character. I spent a previous couple of weeks just trying to find a name that I like. Then when I get to the character creation screen I just roll over. Even though FFXI had very very limited character creation, it felt like I was actually a character in game. Some MMOs just let you make your charactter TOO unique and I think SE is going to make a better balance of recognizable and unique in FFXIV.

Gender: they only have 1, male
Role/Class: I'll run a whitemage for groups and a paladin style for solo, I hope the 2 wil be compatible with gear (not sure if armour selection is based on the weapon you are carrying at the time)
City-State: Where ever the lalafell live
Crafting Profession: Mainly focus on cloth/armor and cooking
Server: Cerberus?
I hate to give a bummer reply ,but to me i have no choice yet,because what you choose has no bearing on your player or game play,so it really is superficial beyond the character creation screen.
I really honestly cannot make any decision on a player,i guess how they look come launch time,will be a deciding factor.I know in a game like Lineage,they had those goofy looking characters that ran hunched over,i did not like that at all,so i guess animations of the different races ,will influence my choice.

Thanks for the correction ^_^ oh well, gonna enjoy healing people, maybe tanking, maybe damage, whatever the party needs. I rolled 3 characters in wow so i could help my guild in all 3 roles
