(European Servers) Wait times were expected, BUT this is still too much...

KrelianKrelian Member UncommonPosts: 385

Aye,

i wont die if i dont play the game today, tomorrow, or a few more weeks until they address the server overcrowding issues (however they see fit), and it was rather expected that the servers would be crowded like that during launch.

ALAS, i feel like i should also add that i have this urge to play this shiny brand new game of mine(that i bled 60euros for), and waiting for ever in line is still boring and disappointing, no matter how you look at it.

Wish NC would have had a more accurate prediction of the population they would have booming on their hands and planned accordingly, but i guess wishes dont make the world go'round! :D Money does! And they got mine, and yours, so at least (FOR NOW) one side of the bargainers is happy.

Sounds like the Eu launch is going to be messier than the US launch.  The thing is, even with 10 channels, you don't want to be in line waiting for the cute rabbit to spawn for 2 hours.  Hopefully, once people get out of the starter zone, they will let more people on.

I know, that's not much consolation and I would be ticked if I couldn't play, but on the other hand, it took me over 6 hours to reach ascension on the first day.  It took me 2 1/2 hours to get a character to 10 yesterday.

Good luck to all of the EU people.  I hope you get to play your fair share this weekend.  At least they fixed the private shop problem before releasing in EU.  Funny, NcSoft said that limiting the private stores wasn't going to make a big difference and it looks like they were right. :(

Tomorrow (I think) they are adding a new server for EU and NA plus I heard they are increasing cap of all servers (not sure on this part) hopefully we will have less queues i'm on spatolos one of the most crowded later in the day I know how you feel.

Aion servers can hold 7 K people concurrent on line (see NCsoft tech Q&A).

That  means they can handle 13servers*7K = 90K players on line at max capacity. Both in US and EU.

All new games have everyone on line for the first few days and opening weekend.

So 400K first time players are  trying to get in while some hold the queing lines with shops.

On Xfire the ratio is 10/1 WOW-Aoin players at the moment, so the max capacity of Aion players could be around 500K.

In the following days pops will spread and the usual 1 to 3 ratio of concurrent players will set in.

Expect the situation to be solved next week when only 30% of the players are logged in.

They have now limited the shop  times to 30 minutes, but as NcSoft has stated, the shop problem isn't really the problem.  The problem is exactly what you pointed out, 400k people trying to log on simultaneously.

The actual problem is that EU people don't even get into the game. They aren't waiting for the rabbit to spawn, but look at the loginscreen with a login-queue of 2+ hours.

I was only able to play for three hours last Sunday at headstart. Since then I never was able to log into the game, looking at loginqueues ranging from 2,5 to 6+ hours every day when I came home from work.

And I still can't play today

    Edit:

The funny thing is: German players have 4 servers they can choose from. All of these servers currently have queues with wait times from 1,5 to 3 hours.....

So, there is nowhere to go, you just can't play

Never seen that in any MMO since 1997. NCSoft should get a medal for their stupidity ...

    Edit2:

checked all 12 European Server. The same thing on all of them. All servers have 1000-2000 people waiting to play. So people did spread out quite well, but there just aren't enough servers to accommodate them.

    Thanks for the replies, guys.

At least i know that there are quite some of us experiencing these login issues, so it very likely will be fixed soon. :) Since no login=no gaming=no subscription hehehh.

Also, i logged in this morning, like 14pm. and wait was just a MINUTE.,, i was so pleasently suprised!! I created a char, but than had to log off to answer the door (it was a friend dropping by to discuss something). Than i had a little late launch,

    i was back by 15:30pm

BUT THIS TIME, when i tried to log-in, the wait time was 50+ minutes (more on other servers, actually - instead of the 1 min wait time just a cople hours ago) uhuhuh,,

So i guess wer back to square one ? :D

    AND THE ''FUNNY'' THING IS!!=

The more i cant log-in, the more i feel like i have an ''unfinished business'', thus the more i wanna be able to login to finish that ''business'' - clearly the lack of servers must be a NCsoft Marketing campaign to make their games more popular :D :D

The reality is that NCsoft know the game isn't good enough to have a very large player base initially so they just put a smallish number of servers out on Launch. They know there is always a launch bubble of players who quit after a month or two so it makes sense to keep to about the number they have on launch. NCsoft know its just a new Korean grinder with a translation. There is nothing new here, and lets be honest folks playing a character with wings is just angel mythos and nothing really new as most mmorpg allow you to fly one way or another.

I'm on Castor and I have a 30-45 min wait every time I connect.

  • FignarFignar Member CommonPosts: 417

Nice game for the 4 hours I got to actually play it, but the wait times take the piss 1 and 1/2 hours. I left waiting 3 hours ago thinking now would be ok but nope the queue is still massive and the wait time is exactly the same. Adding in 1 server here and there isn't going to help at all they should have added 5 or 6.

Not to mention the music on the login screen is getting so tedious why have they not got an option to turn it off :p

    OH MY GOD!! SCREWTHIS!!

In all my previous posts i tried to AVOID to complain (cursing or to be mean) as much as possible

    Now im finally pissed off.....

I AM OK WAITING HOUR/S IN LINE TO PLAY!! + I do other stuff in the meantime while waiting.

BUT NOW IT HAS GOTTEN MUCH WORSE!!

**NOW I CANNOT EVEN WAIT IN LINE ANYMORE: ** =Probably the server cap has been reached: so im being told that ''server is too full right now'' or something along that line, AND i am NOT EVEN* put into the waiting que!!

dammit!! First there were lines to wait, its ok.

Than there were longer lines to wait, its ok too.

NOW THE LINES ARE GONE ALLTOGETHER , but not* because they solved the overpopulation issue,,

    NOOOOO.

''now the lines gone coz its so capped you cant even wait in line''.

I used to play Autoassault, yeah it wasnt such a great game, i know, but still..... and they brought it down.

Than i used the promotion they gave (when bringing AA down) to play Tabula rasa, heck i had even both the collectos of it, and they brought that game down as well.

Both times, i never complained or got pissed off.

But i swear, swear, aion going from longer and longer que times to NOT ALLOWED INTO THE GAME AT ALL: was the final drop of shit i could take. Screw u NC!

    PS

BY THE WAY:: i KNOW  i can TRY to create other characters on other servers.

BUT PLEASE listen to this: I HAVE ALLREADY GOT 5 LV 3-5 CHARACTERS ON 5 DIFFERENT SERVERS ALLREADY!!

I AM FREAKING TIRED OF CREATING NEW CHARACTERS ALL THE TIME ON ALL THE SERVERS, just coz they are qued/now capped.

I pick a server that i can play on, i create a char on it, and than next time i try to log in, BANG, its capped too:(

FINALLY: To summarize: Waiting in que wasnt so cool (ofcourse) BUT it was allright,,

NOT being able to play the game AT ALL (as if i had not* PAID for the game or as if i was a pirate/or trying to play on some god-damned private server) is a biyatch!

This is my freaking game! i Shelled 60 bucks for it and gone through all the registration/adding credit card info etc etc..

at least have the decency to to let us in the freaking line,

coz i can not be bothered to try to login ever 3-5 minutes to see if our god, all mighty aion-game would let me que or not.

    Thank you.

And if you think that i am over-exeggerating (read my opening post, i was cool back than, now its changed, and i explained why*)

or something like that, u can flame me all you want, it wont change the fact that i cant even play this game at all now, and thats all that matters to me right now about this issue)

I can't speak for anybody else, but the worst I seen was 11 minutes - at which point I chose another server to play the others side and it was only 3. I spent about an hour, checked the other and got in at 2 min. This was about 8-9 pm, friday night PST on a west server, so I assume it was peak.

Is seems like we never get full service unless the game was made in Europe. Asian games give us as much concern as the Americas, and US-based games give us about as much concern as...well, whatever they care little about.

With NCWest we are caught in the middle of the two. Good luck ever getting anything done right in Aion.

    WTF? No subscription fee?

    Just an update.

I have finally been able to play for about 6 hours straight, starting at twelve a clock straight last night,,, (had to wake up with only 4.5 hours of sleept today, not too pleasent)

and to my suprise, the game was not so bad at all,,, i only reached lv 11 so far, (levelled my lv 4 war to glad) though, so it could definetly get much better or much worse, it is yet to be seen.

I would honestly give this game a preliminery 7 out of 10 for now. (thats not such a bad grade in my book:D )

    ALAS,

I am disappointed in the wait lines STILL..

    WHy?

Because i tried to login today at 19.pm this afternoon, and yes, it might be a peak hour,

But since its only a weekday (and not friday or weekend) and since they added some new servers as well as limited the player shops (private stores whattamacallit) ,

i was thinking that the line to wait would be about 40mins or something,,,

instead im still getting 3-4 hour wait times.

SURE, if it says 3hrs35 minutes, i get to wait NO MORE than 2.30 or 3 hours of wait time, but its still too much, IMHO.

I wonder.............could the publishing/responsible company honestly not predict at all that so many gamers would be playing Aion at release........?

Anyways, at least now instead of being kicked out of the game alltogether, i can now wait in line,,,, err,, its better than nothing, right?

There were already queues in the week of the headstart. On release day, i left my copy on the shelf and rather wanted to give it another week to see what'll happen about the queues. It got way worse and all NCSoft said that it'll take month until a character-transfer option will be ready. The servers they opened in addition also had  1+ hr queues the second day.

It's like 13 EU servers with queues up to 3,5hrs or full so you can't even join a queue at peak times -that's way beyond usual, even for a blockbuster release. It looks selfmade, maybe even intentional. They knew the number of preorders sold and how many copies they sent into the stores. I don't believe that their calculations and estimations went so wrong in first place that they run short of about 100 - 150k slots or 7+ servers which seem to be missing.

Somehow I think that NCSoft planned to run the game at around 350k players max. in NA/EU and leave it there, no matter how many boxes they would sell. Like healthy 350k for the western market and the main focus remainin on the asian market. With one and another server here and there they don't really seem to be in a hurry to fix the situation, but rather wait for the initial 30 days to pass and players above the 350k amount to leave. Somehow all this looks a bit shady to me.

I sold my copy to a friend today.
