AION is to expensive for an mmorpg > 49.99 Euro

GoromhirGoromhir Member UncommonPosts: 463

Almost 50 Euro for an Online game is to much these days. i know, developement etc etc etc. But dont forget how many games were bugged and in Beta when released. How many people were screwed with broken quests and bugged content and endless Nerfs the so called balancing.. usually the ones that pay the higher price at start are also the ones paying to be BETA testers. The ones that start after 6 month pay less and have a better game, but they have to wait....

i know many will say "Then dont buy it, play something else".  thats right and its easy to say that, but people in countries with less income or simply young poor people often have no choice than either wait til the games are cheaper or they cant buy it at all.

i dont know how much AION in example in Russia costs, but with an average income of 200-300 Euro per month, 50 Euro for a game is to much.

Online games should not cost more than 19.99 in poor countries and maybe 29.99 in rich countries.

If the games are good the game company receives their payment with the monthly fee´s, if the game sucks then at least the cost for the game wasnt to much.

no reason to post here about how rich you are and that you dont care about the price. Also no reason to blame me or people that check prices before buying a  mmorpg, today its better to read forums 6 month before buying a mmorpg with all the broken balance and content in new games.

well i am honest, i bought almost every mmorpg release in the last 10 years and always had problems with the Quality of the game. I am one of those now, waiting a half year to get the games fixed and prices reduced, but its sad because i would love to play a game at release and not 6 month later. The lousy developement and the lousy Beta testing of many and most companies is forcing me to wait.

(no native english, still learning)

are you even posting in the right forum? this is the Aion forum. There are no bugs with Aion at launch.

So ur waiting 6 months just to be behind everyone else... ;) way to go! I look forward to ganking you when you start

oh by the way, its not too expensive because alot of people are buying it. If it was too expensive less people would buy it and it would be cheaper, supply & demand etc.

I kind of need to laugh about the part where it would be cheaper for people in poor countries.. Sorry, but until UNICEF makes an MMO, everyone will pay the same.

MMo players by nature are early adopters. Therefore if you are a gaming COMPANY and your core role is life is to MAKE MONEY, you will capitalise on this at launch and charge as much as you believe you can in the market place. Then when this first wave is gone, you get the rest of the world who will wait for the cheap weekend on Steam or D2D.

Its called an economy and whilst it may not be fair, it is reality.

If your poor, dedicate more time to improving your lot in life rather than leveling a pretend bloody angel all day.

    (That should get some flaming!!!)

The people who earn 200-300 probably don't have a computer in the first place.

Also Aion is not officially released in Russia, maybe it will do in a few years like lineage 2 (Russian publsiher and Russian servers)

I dont know where you live, but at least here in Portugal, every new MMO that was launched cost 49,99 euro. They do get cheaper in time, but at launch this always was the normal price. Not an Aion thing

Got mine for 37 € from g2play.net. The site might seem a little 'dubious' but I've never had a problem with a purchase from there.

Would'nt say that, there's plenty of people with PCs that earn under 500€ a month in Russia.

I don't think it's that much, since you also get a free month. I don't live in an exactly rich country either(nah, it's not UK where I live in)but I can afford it with some planning ahead. A -10 euro drop in future releases would be great but still...

well seems i was right, 3-4 days no login because of endless queue times. best to wait a few month until the powerlevelers are maxed out and bored.

    in 3-4 Month

    >> Most annoying WoW players will be gone (those are like bacteria, only time beats them)

    >> prices for items will be lower

    >> stable guilds established

    >> game will be fixed and balanced

    >> Queue times will be low

    >> The game will sell for 29.99

    >> There will be a Trial

Considering that the game has had QUITE some time for this, since it was released ages ago, I doubt that. Also, being that the pipeline starts in Korea, and rolls down hill, I dont see us seeing it any time soon.

it's a free market, if they can get away with it, i say good for them. I can relate to the OP's position but as has been said countless times, MMOs are still one of the cheapest forms of entertainment. And they are a luxury, if it was food or clothes or housing that we were talking about it would be diferent. But no one needs an MMO (most of mankind still somehow manages) and certainly not the latest. I'm pretty sure any large city in the world where you can get (somewhat) affordable broadband is also a place where you can find affordable, if not free, museums, theater, cinema... Would it be nice if people in the global south got to have more afordable MMO launches? yes, it would be nicer still if they could actually get decent health services.

    Just to make things clear...
I speak for myself and no one else, unless i state otherwise mine is just an opinion. A fact is something that can be independently verified, you may challenge such but with proof. You have every right to disagree with me through sound argument, i believe in constructive debate, but baseless aggression will warrant an unkind response.
