First post about today's lag, at "Today, 10:02 PM "
"There are known issues with missions logs being earsed and crafting queues showing up empty after crashes. These issues are being looked into and So far it has only been a delay issue where the info is taking to long to load up. This also goes with accepting and completing missions.
Thank you for your patience

Thank you for your patience"
That means, restart at 21:30 GMT, or am I wrong?

Pick your time zone of choice.
That was not the question, but thanks I know my time zone, it's pretty easy (GMT). ET is GMT -4. So, 5:30PM ET is 21:30 GMT.
It's just interesting, that they announce a shutdown, that is almost a whole day long...

I am so sick & tired of MMO's taking our money only for us to find that the game was not in a fit state to be released. This game as far as I'm concerned is still in BETA phase and should have been on retail. The price of the game is expensive anyway and the subscription is too high for what it is. It might be worth it, but we never have time to explore due to numerous bugs, lag and crashes.
I'm really angry about this. I feel I've been ripped off after paying out nearly £30 for the download, never mind the extended subsription fee!
This level of quality control in MMO's just isn't good enough. Imagine going to the Cinema and being dissapointed by poor film quality and constant breakdown. You'd want your money back wouldn't you?
You expect a good finish and robust reliabilty from your consumer goods do you not?
There is no excuse for this dreadful set of events. Pity that websites like this do not campaign to improve quality control in these software studios.
I wonder whether there will be compensation for the experiences we've had?
Crap...
Guess I'll go fall asleep while shooting hello kitty and pokemon.
I mean play my ranger in Aion.
I agree. There has been a trend to release games in a state that is so bad that it is barely even playable and that is just not right imo.
On the flip side this game has good features and I hope they can get it to run nice. If not then the company developing JGE has said that they are not releasing till it is a quality product both as a fun game and in a bug free state; and they were talking about beta release and they have the financial backing to do it. So there is still hope in the mmo future.
A whole day? Am I missing something here? I was playing the game until around 7PM EDT, then I took a quick nap and came to find out that they're down until 11:30PM EDT. That's only 4 hours.....not quite a full day....
With all due respect, the game was fine until everyone and their mother logged in... This game ran flawlessly for the pre-order people. I had no issues whatsoever with lag, or anything. They just didn't foresee the volume of players that this Sunday brought.
New player chat is full of whiners not asking questions, but trolling instead. Give it a couple weeks and all those spoon fed MMO players will be gone, the server will calm down and we'll be able to create/maintain a good community have some fun.
Yes TWhint.. you are missing something. Probably a whole gambit of posters personal issues that would explain why they feel the need to trash a great new MMO, with a fairly decent launch.
Anyone who plays an MMO at launch and expects to have seemless gameplay with zero problems has obviously just stepped off "The Mother ship".
As an MMO Vet: (I won't bore you with the list) I can honestly say that I have never seen an MMO launch without tons of issues. Unlike 95% of the others however, the FE GM's and Devs have made a point of communicating well, jumping on issues, and being forthright and semi accurate with their down time assesments.
Frankly, I'd rather have a game I'm loving come down for maintenance ten times a day, and know that they are at least TRYING to work on the issues immediately, as opposed to the utter silence (Que the crickets) that we have had from dozens of other horrible launches. Horrible launches from the biggest names in MMO's.
I won't bother exclaiming how good FE is, cuz I love it so far, and anyone who doesn't need not play.
Soule
Hey, I LOVE this game, but I won't be blind. I have all my hope and I paid for 3 months ahead, as I know the first ones are the hardest, and I really wish to support these guys here, when all the whiners leave.
But still: the post was put up after 22:00 GMT yesterday, saying that the servers will be down till 21:30 GMT.
That's 23 and a half hours. That's what I found strange, as I don't think they really meant that.
Hope you got the message now...

You get compensated. It's called the first 30 days free. If major problems persist when you actually pay to play, you can back to the subject.
