I'm interested in feedback from the rest of the community on what games are the better current PvP MMOs, what they excel at, what they lack, and some further discussion on upcoming PvP MMOs.
This isn't a 'Looking for game" thread...
I've played most of them, as I'm sure many of you have. I'm always looking for that perfect PvP MMO, regardless of whether I'm currently playing something or not.
MMO's currently out/coming out that come to mind for me when looking for PvP:
WAR- Great leveling from PvP and RvR system is good on paper, but everyone ends up in scenarios... Crappy engine, the whole fort flopping mess... Not a huge fan of the restrictiveness during class/character creation.
AoC- Great combat system, graphics, and character creation/classes. No worthwhile PvP endgame.
Darkfall- FPS aiming, huge world, full loot, no classes- all awesome concepts. Extremely Anti-casual, fun during even battles... Key words (Even battles- never happen). World is too big for such a small population, even on both servers.
EQ2- Haven't tried it. How is it??
Aion- Too Fairy-ish for my taste, hate the art. Also, 8 classes? that's so 5 years ago... Granted it does have a smooth engine and flying combat.
Fallen Earth - Currently playing, PvP is almost non-existent in the early stagesm which is a shame. FPS aiming is a big +. Seems too PvP oriented.
DAoC- A little dated to be honest, but one of the best ever... Populations are waning, would be up for someone to convince me otherwise... Just doesn't seem like it has much promise for the future.
Upcoming: Mortal Online, Global Agenda
I'll update this with games and useful info as people reply.

Should add DAOC and Aion to your list.
Of those, DAOC is still my favorite
Torrential: Hunter of Dark Age of Camelot (Pendragon)
...Die Hibbies!
Torrential: DAOC (Pendragon)
Awned: World of Warcraft (Lothar)
Torren: Warhammer Online (Praag)
WAR - Battlegrounds, meh
AoC - Dull
Darkfall - Shit
EQ2 - PvE
Aion - Grindfest
Fallen Earth - Never played it
DaoC - Hella Dated.
Guild Wars?
Don't forget WoW, if you enjoy arena-style PvP *puts on flamesuit*.
WoW Arena - Worst PvP ever, just chasing people around trying to CC them

this site listed the one that are top amongst gamer
WAR - I think it is worth mentioning that Mythic did an exceptional job of allowing players to create a lvl 1 toon and immediately jump into PvP and actually be useful. Most games today treat PvP as something you do in the mid to higher levels and give you no chance of competing against someone just a couple of levels higher than you. I had more fun PvPing in the lvl 1-20 range than I ever did PvPing at the end game.
AoC - As already mentioned, there is no real reason to PvP although the combat system and graphics are awesome.
WoW - great if your idea of PvP is running battlegrounds over and over with a bunch of AFK honor/mark farmers. Open world PvP is pretty much dead even on PvP servers. WG is quite fun other than the lag, tenacity and only being available 20 minutes every 3 hours.
Aion - Fun game if you like PvE themeparks for the 1st twenty levels. I will never understand why a PvP game forces you to level via PvE and does not even offer you the chance to PvP (other than 1v1 dueling) for until lvl twenty.
EQ2 - very casual themepark PvE game with meaningless PvP. I tried PvPing in EQ2 numerous times and could never, ever find someone my level to fight. Every fight I encountered was someone higher than me by 3-5 lvls ganking people in lower lvl zones. Very good PvE game if you are a casual player.
MO/DF - both seem to offer wonderful PvP but sadly they chose to only offer the game in 1st person view which I cannot stand in an MMO. I spend a lot of time customizing my toons and just do not enjoy only being able to see my hands waving back and worth when in combat.
Fe - just bought FE Friday and trying it out. The lag I experienced Friday and Saturday made the game almost completely unplayable and the servers were down the entire day Sunday so I have no idea how the PvP is yet. From what I hear though, trying to PvP at the lower levels is plain suicide.
I don't think WoW's PvP is about anything other than arena. Many people don't like that, but it's Blizzard's focus and it's there to stay. That's why there are more options, such as Aion or, to a lesser extent, WAR if you enjoy open PvP or instanced-style PvP.
your right even aion was thot of as open world pvp(im wrong)
nope it doesnt do in that
one of the big reason game like rohan or other title with open world pvp still are fairly popular for
f2p game
Excellent post, Murashu
Have you tried Aion up to 25? No Open-PvP:(
I'm also currently playing FE, but starting to feel it really has more of a focus on PvE. No Open-PvP:(
EQ2- now you say it's a PvE game, but there is PvP everywhere on the PvP servers, right? True, it's pointless PvP, but getting loot/gear etc from PvPing is one of the least important reasons for me to go PvP, personally.
WAR- There any signs on the horizon for them to make Tier 4 better?
FE is interesting, but it might wind up being nothing more than solo questing and crafting, PVP only happens in little penned up areas.
Mortal online looks good if they manage to pull it off. It looks like it will be more realistic than any other MMO I've seen, but still needs a lot of work.

Asheron's Call, Darktide server, back in 2001-2003 were some of the best PvP you could find in MMO's. It was FPS-style PvP, where you can dodge arrows and side-step to avoid getting hit by a magic bolt. It was full kill + loot style where you could drop really good items on your body, back when most items were not no-drop. You fought for hunting spots, you killed for bragging rights, you also kill to see if someone who's holding a super duper tinkered weapon might drop that weapon.
Back when AC1 also had good vs evil, so clans fought based on how they associate themselves. AC1 is probably my favorite PvP MMO of all time. DAOC takes the second spot for the best RvR-style of PvP.
AC1's problem right now is age, as it came out shortly after EQ1 so it's nearing 10 years old. The graphics are outdated, some game mechanics were messed around with when Microsoft was partly in charge, and there just aren't enough players around for the same kinda fun we had. But if they ever revamp the graphic engine of AC1, but kept the gameplay the same, I'd play it in a heartbeat.

Mortal Online, Global Agenda, unless I'm mistaken aren't these both trying to be more "twitchy"?
Not interested in that at all.
An updated DAoC? I will buy the box and pay the sub fee tomorrow.
Unfortantely, I don't think anything like that is on the way.
And, you forgot to mention Darkfall. Not my cup of tea, but some may like it since it is PvP.
What do you play now? What about the requirement to have a 2nd account/bot to compete in DAoC these days?
There are no good PvP games that interest me right now, so I'm in EQ1 relaxing until a good PvP game comes up. I don't play DAOC these days due to age mostly, just like AC1. Both games have severly outdated interface and engine, both appears to be in maintenance mode with no expansions and small game updates here and there. Both games have very small player population, and you need population to make PvP fun.

Warhammer for me regardless of instances was probably the most fun I've ever had leveling up in a game. It was the first time I could level through PvP at a decent pace. I didn't care if it was battlegrounds or not. Too bad the end game was non existant.
Guild Wars 2 will have some decent play hopefully, especially for people like me. I aboslutely refuse to pve to pvp anymore.
In my opinion it's not a pvp game unless it's balanced for, focused on, and has little to no pve in the game, or at least has the option to progress or play without ever participating in it. That's my hardline opinion, always has been and always will be.
Team Fortress 2 has great PvP and is free to play. Yeah, it's a shooter, but it's class-based and very well balanced. And you can progress through achievements and unlocks if that's your thing as well. As far as MMO's go, the PvP is too gear-centric for me, honestly. Either that or it's impossible to find a good fight. TF2 (and most shooters in general) do not suffer from these things.
Its pretty sad that MMOs have not been able to learn more about PvP from the FPS genre. Hard to beleive some companies are still using the archaic queue system to match players up. But that's what you get when you give item rewards for PvP battle instead of an even playing field where PvP is done for it's own sake.
Vault-Tec analysts have concluded that the odds of worldwide nuclear armaggeddon this decade are 17,143,762... to 1.
You have to buy team fortress 2 if im not mistaken.
