Mortal Online: New Screenshots are NSFW

MikeBMikeB Community ManagerAdministrator RarePosts: 6,555

A dozen or so new screenshots of Mortal Online have been made available over at German fansite MortalOnline-Szene, and from what we can gather, Mortal Online is definitely a breast of fresh air.

There is definitely a good amount of nudity in these screenshots so be warned they are NSFW.

From the looks of it, it seems like Mortal Online should satisfy players who are looking for a game with full player looting. I mean, come on, you can't even keep your shorts?!

Well, that's nice, although random people weaving around their "male parts" will force me to ALT+Tab a lot.

So just have topless; a bare male chest should not blind you if you happen to see it.

I wonder if men hang out their balls, too. Doh.

I guess it's good to finally see that women aren't the only ones being objectified?

Then again, if death in PvP means someone can literally take your underwear off of you, I'd definitely roll a male... just because none of the male gankers would run off with my whiteys if it means they have to get a camera-full of maleness.

Nor should a penis . . . just goes to show how much humanity needs to mature.

    It's a Jeep thing. . .

Hehe, good answer. I can already see the new trend: run into PVP with naked male chars to irritate the enemy. :D

Awesome screenies. I hope the game develops nicely and we get a good game to play with.

After all the complaints I saw with AoC with men oogling over the breasts in that game, and the complaints by women that there should be some penises in that game. I think its refreshing to see a developer with the balls (so to speak) to actually make a game with both genitals in it. So what next for MO, nude emotes?

well since it's developed on the Unreal Engine... why not Unreal Tournaments good old  'pelvic thrust' emote?

I can't see what the fuss is about. The way parts of the human anatomy are portrayed in computer games is only going to get increasingly realistic and the novelty factor is already gone.

I don't think it's a wise move to include representations of reproductive organs (i.e. penis and vagina) as this infringes the sense of modesty common to all civilised societies and takes the game into the realms of pornographic material.

Potentially sexual but non-reproductive body parts (breasts, backsides, legs, etc) I have no issue with. I'm not going to condemn a game because someone going through puberty gets all silly about part of it - we all had to start somewhere, lest the more pretentious 'mature' people forget. Nor am I going to deny my instincts and say there isn't anything alluring about the female form just to satisfy the PC crowd and a bunch of insecure men/women.

The game features breasts, so do 50% of the population... move on.

Agreed, on the other hand, the important moment in a young man/boy's of seeing a vagoo for the first time, with the feeling of utter joy 'WOOOOO!' would be lost into history :s

I disagree about the so-called 'sense of modesty'. What is so unnatural about our reproductive organs? Modesty is just getting plain old stupid these days. I can imagine fifty years from now how the 'moral pillars' of our society, hypocritical religious figures, have distorted our sense of reality so much that even our household pets will be clothed. Looking at all the moronic people who dress their dogs up, we are already heading in that direction.

However, I do not want to see breasts or vaginas/penises being flashed in my MMO of choice. I'm a grown man, I've seen my share of nudity and still continue to enjoy the naked human form in the right circumstances. Yet, I do not want to see some teen-controlled character teabag me with accurately modeled testicles after defeating my character in PvP. There is a place for everything, I do not think nudity has a part in MMOs, at least not for player controlled characters.

I wonder if the different races will have different size parts...

Are they fully animated, or do they just hang there like a sad sack?

    Gives new meaning to backstab?

Yes, seriously. And I'm sure you can argue "both sexes have been objectified plenty before in MMOs with tight/revealing outfits," but the fact is that games have been comfortable with the "top-down" with women approach for a very long time to draw in players. It's good to see that a company is finally treating nudity as it should be... 100% equal on both fronts. Thus, turning both sexes into nude objects that are meant to rope in people (or at least drum up extra attention).

In a perfect world the addition of ultra realism to a game would be welcomed. However, this is far from a perfect world, and the maturity level of the average MMO player has fallen drastically since the release of Warcraft. I envision entire guilds of preteens running around with fits of the giggles as they harass players in cities with their E-Penis.

Agree! Come on people it's 2009 alredy! Does it scare you that much?

Like a previous poster mentioned already, tea-bagging will take on a whole new meaning now.

I didn't really pay a lot of attention to the nudity.

Quick question, can anyone name the Care Bear that makes an appearance in more than one screen shot?

Bonus points for knowing the number of screen shots it shows up in.

    No cheating, okay?

Oh man, I never thought MO would actually look so... mediocre. I know it's still unfinished but it really looks like a low quality release. Adding some nudity on top of it... Phew, glad I didn't pre-purchase the game after seeing the one, cool looking video.

Strongly disagree with "the sense of modesty common to all civilised societies" just because a majority of idiots do a thing doesn't make it sane or reasonable. I give these people credit for bringing a new level of realism to their game (they have been trying to be realistic with their world, this is perfectly in line with that).

I have no idea if this game will ever see release, or how long it'll last after that fact, it'll be interesting to follow the continued development if nothing else. At the least I do give them great credit for doing it their own way (world graphics look really good too, and the armor you can see in some of those screen shots), this is definitely at the least NOT a WoW clone.....

Should -NEVER- pre-purchase, it's what's helped make so many crappy games out there, this habit people have of doing that. -Make- them produce a good, polished complete product!
