I'm playing this game and loving it

Eq vet blah blah.....this game reminds me of UO in the days when you had to boot strap it just to get some fish to eat.....this game is the same.

Been playing quite a bit last few days.  There was one bumpy day of server stablility (new game blues).

I find myself playing the game and actually reading the storyline.

Its a massive world and I am curious to see whats north.

I think this game feels quite sandbox ish and will appeal to my fellow old school UO'rs. FE has a heavy tradeskill focus.

One thing i think this game demands from you is a certain bit of patience.

The skill set actually reminds me of Anarchy online or Asheron's Call 1.

Yep same.  Game is great, if they could fix the lag now it would rock even more.

Well AO,UO , whatever you want to think .....Its hit a note with me alright.

I simply love starting from nothing and being able to use the environment to boost yourself up with the stuff you need.  I've made a game out maximizing my time in S1 and learning this game.  For those interested in knowing this is what i've managed to figure out so far:

It crafts like old school UO.....with the exception there is no housing --- i hope they let us craft at home when they do bring in housing

They plan limited clusters , so probably only going to see one "server".

I just love tearing around the land scape on my ATV even if it does cost me more than a horse.

Ive made more a game out of harvesting and exploring around the south east and Clinton FARMS then trying to advance my character.  i'm lvl 6 and have a total of 100  Action points (AP),42 AP on unspent.

So far I've managed to get most of the tradeskills i've encountered to 30 and am running between Clinton FARMs, Midway and Olenville running around beating npcs down with lead pipes and fire pokers causing all kinds of Havoc.

I really like the item drops:

suspicious cheese (which is now also a clan Lol)

    Tainted Milk

    Bacon

I might add that this is the first mmo i've played with (non interactive) toliets.  I even came upon a johnny on the spot with a clickable door ehehe.

The game has missions but the missions are prettty fun for me. Perhaps its because i've been on a long break from MMO's , or mayb its because the setting is different....I don't know but I actually FEEL like going through the content this time instead of just plowing through like a someone chasing a carrot on a stick..

very cool to hear you are liking it. I too am taking my sweet time playing this game, when i get to a town I stable my horse and run all missions on foot, I will be able to make gasoline soon, so when I do I will claim my ATV.

I just like going a lot of places on foot, and salvaging/scavenging along the way.

Ya, it reminds me of SWG and AO.

Combat is just a fresh breath of air, even if by no means all that special... in fact there are hotbar attacks but I find romping in with the mouseclick alone more than enough. Mutations seem a bit boring to me, but crafting and the pure selection of items is awe-inspiring. You can fight people with a corkscrew for christ's sake, and I know somewhere there is a tinfoil hat that protects vs psionic attacks. Dual wielding ball peen hammers has never been so win.

My beefs are with the interface and crafting though. Very awkward having to shift in and out of combat to loot, and having no containers to further organize the hundreds of items in-game sucks (there is a weight limit, why bother with space?). Crafting is definitely "hands off", but if you think about it - it means you don't have to spend hours in front of a grindy interface like SWG did (bless it's heart). You just craft what you want, then go about your business in-game or offline and it finished when it does.

I really wanna see how PvP works, and if it means guilds are going to be divided to factions based on it. Otherwise I may just start a trader guild someday based on maxing out in crafts and making scrilla. I can see myself playing long enough to do so.

It's his opinion and he's entitled to it. At base level the crafting is, collect materials, pick recipe, press go, wait. Obviously, to those playing there more to it but for those who just browse and aren't into crafting, that's it.

Champions has toilets and bad guys that use them. Tabula Rasa had toilets and if I remember correctly they were interactive.

I felt like I needed to set the record straight on MMOG's and toilets. Its important you know.

Though not an MMO, Fallout had toilets you could drink from.

Glad you like the game. I have been taking my time as well.

I am sorry, but that sentence is not an opinion. It is simple, plain bullshit.

There are aspects in crafting in FE which no other game has. I am not saying it is better or worse than any, but even only 1 single of those aspects would make it unique.

1000 other games, is just trolling.

An opinion would have been: I don't really like crafting in FE, cause in some aspects it is not as good as in other games (Ryzom, maybe EVE). That is correct, and would not have been trolling.

Hope you sense the point now.

I may be interested to get this game in the future however I am content to wait at this time.  Glad to see people are generally liking the game and not just bitching.

Only issue I had was serious server lag, missions not registering and client crashing on Sunday. Latter 2 issues completely ironed out with patch 1.09.

I was disheartened with the lag and server downtime this past weekend but I have thoroughly enjoyed all my play time this week. I'm enjoying the FPS style combat but find myself spending more and more time crafting and exploring which is a nice break for me. The PvP is the main reason I purchased this game although I haven't participated in it yet, I hope to do some this weekend.

    PVE is never hard.

It either is time consuming or it requires grouping/organization.

Both are totally worthless to me.

I prefer like it is here, concentrate on your character instead of how to do this or that quest.

You can hardly call it a grind, the quests are not pointless. In fact I feel as if some quests I do are related to real life.

Usually when I start a new mmo I start with 100% satisfaction because it's a new game, then it decreases slowly.

This game I started kinda annoyed but I like it more and more every day.

    Happy gamer here :-)

I'm really digging this game. Reminds me of a cross between "The Postman" and "RoadKill"  Although a bit laggy, at times, the constant improvements are making it better by the week.

For the first time, in a long time, I ended up pulling a "OMG, the sun's rising!" all nighter. The "grind" doesn't feel like one, the storyline is fairly in-depth, and the character building is great, albeit a bit confusing at first.

Aion, the big, bad, "MMO ascended", couldn't hold me like FE does.

It's been a while since I haven't been bored 20 hours into a MMO. I thnk I've finally made it home.

    Keep it up, FE!

Yeah I would definitely recommend FE over Aion since the latter one is just a dumbed down korean grinder focused on emo looking characters.
The FE devs are rly making some progress and they tend to resolve issues rather faster which is a big plus. The biggest gripe I am currently having with FE is the lack of PVP in S1. I am almost lvl 15 though so this won't last for long but still... some pvpers might feel a bit disappointed first and they might simply move on since they have to go through pve grind first to play pvp.
Also we should see some fps optimalization in cities such as oilville and embry soon.

There is no need to comment on your usual style, but anyone can check my post history and see clearly that I eagerly criticize any issues that I have with FE, if I find one.

You, however once again played the sad fanboi card, and now sit proud thinking you won. In fact, you posted another piece of BS, was called for it, and cannot take it - once again showing the signs of serious immaturity.

Otherwise, I agree that the game needs FPS optimization, since my average FPS has significantly dropped since the last patch, mostly in town. I guess that was somehow the price for client stability (less crashes).

I think PA setting is becoming pretty popular again.

Fallout, Fallen Earth and Earthrise. I think there is a push for more non fantasy games out there and players want something different and fresh these days instead of World of Warcraft wanna be's.

Also, we are seeing more Sandbox type games hitting the market.

Darkfall, Fallen Earth, Mortal Online,  Earthrise and The Secret World <--- You folks gotta check this one out..

So I would say there is a genre push here.

this pve grind to pvp isnt as bad as in some games tho. I did some low level pvp in s1 and it was great and im' ready to do some pvp in s2.. most korean grinders look like they have amazing pvp,but you have to play for months upon months to reach a decent level.

    Isn't secret world from Funcom?

They teased me for years with Conan then dumped me on prom night. I'll be the scorned lover and pass on that.

FE is addictive. I don't even understand what it is that about the game I like so much. It has a very real feel to it.

1st of all, I have no intentions on derailing this thread.. so I do apologize.

Anyways, I hear ya Slambone and it is Funcom. I got that same taste in my mouth as well, but TSW seems pretty damn unique as this point.

    Now onto FE.

FE can be addictive and overwhelming as well for new and old type of players to this style of mmorpg.

Most of the players just can't place their finger on it as well, but FE reminds me of the older style of MMO gaming we have lost to the mainstream linear themepark mmo's that are out there now.
