I have an ATV vehicle from when I bought the game but I am afraid to use it while I am a noob.
Can my vehicle be destroyed by mobs and I will lose it forever?
Or will it just stay with me and need a repair?
Id like to ride it but dont want to lose it!

I believe it can be destroyed, but it would take A LOT of damage to do so. Just whip it out and ride it, you'll be glad you did. Besides, they are not too expensive to replace, and they come with a lot of gas. You are better off with a horse anyway.
Be aware, once you 'activate' a mount, it stays in the world permanently, until it is destroyed. You don't 'put it away' when you dismount. There will always be an icon on the map showing you where it is, and you can store it in a garage or stable (for a horse).
Mobs can and do kill your veh. It will never be destroyed forever, just go to a garage and tow it and use a repair kit.
Newbie towns and in south s1 nothing will go after your veh, first time you see mobs stalking your horse etc is around Pass Chris.
Use it and enjoy.

I'm pretty sure I lost my ATV last night. I've only just started (Sunday evening and last night) and I was driving to Oilsville (sp?) to do this banking quest and saw a nice bunch of scavenging nodes off the side of the road... drove straight for them in excitement. Everything seemed fine but I must have hit a patch of lag because without any red dots appearing on the screen the next second I was surrounded by them and dead. I think my ATV was destroyed cause it sure wasn't anywhere to be found when I finally made it back there and the green icon was not on the radar anymore.
So, go for a ride - it IS fun - but do be wary.
By the way, I'm not too upset as I'm aiming to get a horse as soon as I can... the ATV wasn't really me, it just came with the (only) download option I had.

That is great news. So I take it the "Tow" option is a drop down somewhere related to the garage?
Sounds like the other poster should try that who just lost his ATV.
Yes when you click the garage manager he will list all your motor veh, same for stable npc and your horses (you can 5 in total). Just highlight your veh and click tow and your poor wrecked/dead veh/horse will appear. Use a repair or vet kit on it and it'll will be purring good as new. repair kits are cheap.
For fun try to jump the grand canyon. Did it all the time in beta....my poor poor horse.

Thank you Blakavar, will definitely try that. I mean the garage thing... not the jumping the grand canyon thing. I am not that depressed yet, the chick in the tutorial seemed to like me for a start.

So I got a little playing time in and ran my ATV to about half fuel reserves. When I try to buy a can of gasoline to fill it back up the screen windows pops up;
"Weight: "

Yep the can of gas would put you over the weight limit. Kilo's carried/Kilo max is displayed in lower right of your inventory screen.
Just open your atv's trunk and squirrel some stuff in there including the gas cans, you'll be able to refuel right from the trunk.
I think the whole message is "that item exceeds your weight allowance" or somthing, must have garbled
If you make a horse, the one thing you will be saying to yourself when trying to mount in a group of horses is... Damn, that's not my horse... repeatedly...
