There was a lot I liked about LoTRO back in 2007, I decided not to play because of a few I did not.

Hey guys. Back in 2007 I got a copy of LotRO and began playing I really liked the game from the get go. Quests were very well done, a lot of them had voice work and great cinematics after you finished them. The graphics were amazing, and community was very mature and respectful for the most part.

My problem with LoTRO is that I did not find one single class I enjoyed playing.

Just as I began to enjoy one class something would happen where it would prevent me from liking it. Just as I was enjoying ranger, I would keep dying and dying at lower levels. There was no way to keep the monsters from being able to attack me up close and personal.

I have never been a traditional hack & slash kind of player so the basic Sword/ shield classes did not appeal to me at all.

In FFXI I played a corsair and a Dragoon. I enjoyed both a lot. Both were very different non generic mmorpg classes.

In Guild wars I did Dervish and Ritualist again 2 very unique classes that I liked a lot.

I'm normally not into the generic healer, tank, dd roll Support In LoTRO I tried but didnt like ether.

So I want to know if new classes were added to the game since 2007. Maybe something along the lines of Druid, Dragoon, Corsair / Pirate/, Dark Knight, a different style of class than the typical fantasy 101.

I feel quite dumb calling the classes in this game Generic, since its original works basically invented the fantasy genre but I'm sure you all know what I am trying to say by it in mmorpg terms.

wow warden looks awesome! Can I play one as soon as I buy the expansion or do I need to level up another class to unlock warden in game?

Also is this game still very casual player friendly. I only really have about 5-10 hours a week to play if that. I go to college full time and work part time.

    Is there rested exp?

Has the game  adopted the SoE scam of making itself P2P with item mall?

You can play the warden if you buy the expansion. No need to level up another class first.

Last I played it, the game was still casual friendly. There is a rested XP bonus.

    No item malls thankfully.

    Current: None
Played: WoW, CoX, SWG, LotRO, EVE, AoC, VG, CO, Ryzom, DF, WAR
Tried: Lineage2, Dofus, EQ2, CoS, FE, UO, Wurm, Wakfu
Future: The Repopulation, ArcheAge, Black Desert, EQN

Is buying the game and expansion 10 dollars? I think I saw it on the site promoting the game and expansion box for 10 bucks? and the monthly fee is 10 dollars as well?

Is there still new players coming into the game? Id like to play a game where I can run into players.

And is there still a lot of players in general playing this game?

I believe the game and expansion is still $10 but im not sure about the subscription. They have sales around the release of updates and such. I think that when Siege of Mirkwood comes out they will bring back the $199 for lifetime sub deal again. (along with the $10 a month). Oh and when you get the $10/month  deal you need to buy atleast 3 months

Well I got the game for 10 dollars and the expansion...great deal I must say.

I also just activated my key and canceled my account (So I don't get billed for a month after my free month incase I don't end up liking it).

Going to try it out for a few hours today since I got sometime. Hopefully things have changed for the better with LotRO.

Also, they announced today that if you have Lotro and MoM expansion AND sign up for lifetime or multi-month sub, you get Siege of Mirkwood FREE.

There are a lot of new players in the newb zones.  However, it is inadvisable to take Turbine's "recommended servers for new players."   Those tend to be the lower populated servers, with lower population in the newb areas, etc.   The busiest servers are Brandywine, Elendilmir (unofficial Aus/NZ server, but still mostly NA) and Landroval (unofficial RP server).

Yea I just started back playing a couple of days ago. I preferably like the Rune-Keeper class. Meneldor is my server. The Warden is pretty cool, too.
