I've played the game a bit the last few days, and there is a couple of things I would like to suggest:
-As you increase your scavenging/harvesting/etc skill, the lower levels should take less time, i.e. reduce 1 second per skill level. I have level 50 scavenging, and looting lvl 1 and 45 both takes 4 seconds. I think the lvl 1 should take 1 second, lvl 15 take 2 seconds, lvl 30 take 3 seconds, lvl 45 take 4 seconds. When i hit lvl 60, the lvl 1 should be instant.
-A key to instantly switch from 1st to 3rd person view would be greatly appreciated, using the mousewheel just isn't fast enough for my liking.
What do you guys think?

I haven't really played enough to either agree or disagree on your first point. However, I do know, that there is a button to instantly change between 1st and 3rd person view. The default button is F9
I think the only thing that's bugging me at the momment is the weapon switching system, I'm hoping that's just a key binding issue though, I haven't tried yet. Other than that all is good for me so far!.
Realistically, you can never "instantly" do anything. Also, to cut the skinning/searching time down to 25% of what you started at is a massive reduction. Also not realistic. 50% at max.
Also, melee is easier in first person thanks to sidestepping.
I reassigned mine to the Fn keys. Might have to rethink that if/when I start grouping more though as I like them for team mate selection. Maybe one of those new Razer MMO mice could be a good investment.

That's what I initially thought, but same as you I think it may make things awkward when I start grouping more.
Realisticly it would take slightly longer than 4 seconds to skin an animal in any case.
Though we differ on the implications, I think we agree on the premise that as you progress through levels, the lower lvl tasks should be speeded up.
The game needs good ol' railroad robberies of the old west.
Make the railroads working with trains that leave between the towns in routines. Players have a choice of instant travel at a hefty sum, or "riding coach" on the actual locomotive itself for a fraction of the price. These trains could be attacked on horseback/buggy by shooting out NPCs on the cab and in the windows firing back, and by taking out parts of the train with fire it can be stopped - but all the while you get attacked by spawning NPCs.
By robbing a train line you gain funds and goods, but then raise the price of that specific line for a considerable amount of time. So there is party a game in wanting to ride coach in order to intercept and keep your interests safe. Had the market economy relied on manual transit, or even just the shipping of goods place to place in this way, the game would get a lot more depth.

Seems so obvious now, good thinking... thanks.
Also, in the options, under General is a box to check for Auto First Person, which will automatically shift you into first person view when you enter combat mode.
Added - also, you can use F9 to switch between 3rd and 1st person views.
