A Ray of Sunshine Finally!

this is a news letter i got from the divergence dev team...

"In light of the many people who have voiced their concern over the forums and through email, we have decided to leave the sight up for now.

And on a more positive note, we'd like to say that we have finally managed a ray of sunlight in this otherwise bleak era.

We finally got a little bit of money!

By little, I quite literally do mean "little" and not enough to fund the engine we need, however it does cover a chunk of the artwork and original 3d assets we need which we hope will in turn generate more buzz and bring in one or two more potential investors. In fact this chunk of investment came specifically with the agreement that "It will only be used on 3d artwork and assets," which means a few devs will have to put their plans for a vacation home in the bahamas on hold, but sacrifices must be made!

The things we do for you people... Yeesh.

This amount of investment will not be sufficient for all playable races previously discussed and so this week we'll be probing the forums to find out everyones favorite proposed race and cram as many of those as we can.

All other races and content will be added once we've secured more investment.

The website will be made to reflect this announcement and one more for the 2nd and third week of April."

    Its dead Jim.

    And that is why...

Conservatives' pessimism is conducive to their happiness in three ways. First, they are rarely surprised -- they are right more often than not about the course of events. Second, when they are wrong they are happy to be so. Third, because pessimistic conservatives put not their faith in princes -- government -- they accept that happiness is a function of fending for oneself. They believe that happiness is an activity -- it is inseparable from the pursuit of happiness.

This gamed failed after the first concept meeting...  free and open PvP with very few rules?  Har Har Har

These games attract a VERY, VERY small crowd and not nearly enough to pay the bills. The millions and millions of PvE'ers won't go near this game.

    You are very correct sir.

I would like to know how this game, should it make it to launch compete with Earth Rise.

Sounds like a textbook example about why design by commitee situations suck.  Much as many devs would benefit from actually listening to their communities (such as SoE's legendary examples) I fail to see the point of doing so to the point of trusting them completely.  Humans are stupid, large numbers of them incredibly so, especially when given to fanboyism or a love of PvP it seems.

Humans afraid of PvP in a video game are by far the dumbest

Who could, or WOULD, argue with a necromancer of your calibre?

How dare you present him with logic! Don't you understand? He fights epic fights, in epic games, with epic toons....eats epic food and takes epic dumps! He has more e..pic..icity...ness in his little finger than you have in your whole unepic body! - ChicagoCub
