Just bought Lineage II and...

...played for about 4-5 hours, and...

...well...I'm not sure I like it. I know I should give it a bit more time, but there's stuff I really can't seem to get used to.

The game seems ok in most ways...the graphics are very nice, but I'm not getting comfortable with the movement system, and most stuff are rather hard to get into. I also hate the questing system, but quests in this game seems few and far between, so that's ok I guess...but I haven't seen one...ONE...other person since I started, and that is the one point that is really putting me off, since I play mostly for the social aspect of an MMO. Where are all the people...hehe.

I'm going to keep playing it in the 30 days that came with the game, but I'm not sure I'd subscribe unless it becomes better as we go. I guess I'm asking you to tell me that it becomes much, much better as soon as I get a bit further...

Waiting for a game that never comes...

Im guessing you dont see any other players because Aion was just released.  Im baffled why you would even buy L2 when Aion is literally open to all the public in less then 24 hours.

Already bought Aion, but I'm...as usual...waiting until the proper release and at least a week into it, because I hate the start up problems most MMOs has.

And I bought L2 for lots of reason, mainly because I usually play several MMOs at the time and several people recommended it to me....and...I got a short attention span, and needs stuff to do...hehe...besides 14.95€ are not ruining me ;)

L2 is an old game, is a good one but old, so its hard to find people in the low level zones, im sure once you reach 20 or 30 and reach gludio and go deeper in the cotinent you will start finding people around.

leveling goes so fast these days that between lvl 1 and 30 you will not see many people.

Go and teleport your self to Giran and see if there is people, should be filled with stores and players.

L2 is at "legend" rank for me and will never be worse than any new MMO, even if technically it is.

However, L2 is very different from Aion.

And Lineage2 and aion are not the same game in many ways

Thanks for all the posts guys...have decided to give this one a shot. Seen some people now, and the mechanics of combat and movement just needed some getting used to. It's actually quite fun when I think about it...I DO miss some sense of purpose, but starting to see a story forming...if I pay attention...hehe.

In any case...this might be one of the three games I subscribe to each month...

Thanks again for the posts. :)

i belive time for L2 is gone. GREAT game but its to grindy for u devote 1 year when new "better" games are coming in 2010. quest are for some useless items, u will have to kill thousands of mobs, and since tehres nobody around u aint gonna like to be alone at cruma tower at urs 40´s.

Anyway, if u find someone to play keep with it, it will SURELY teach u to stop complaining about xp and gold :)

    ps: Dark Avenger/Titan FTW =)

    now: GW2 (11 80s).
    Dark Souls 2.
    future: Mount&Blade 2 BannerLord.
    "Bro, do your even fractal?"
Recommends: Guild Wars 2, Dark Souls, Mount&Blade: Warband, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning.

L2 was best during C2-C3...trains, clan wars in The Cemetary and around it.

Man, that was so fun, and it wasn't even "ZOMG UBER MMORPG". But in its own way, it delivered the most fun I ever had by playing this genre.

Yeah...I'm starting to feel comfortable with the movement system now...it took a while though. :)

...and yeah...I'm starting to see other people now...can't wait to see how the major towns look. Rather like the look and 'feel' of this game. :)

Top suggestion is to get in to a academy. clan and friends is everything in this game.

Once you get to 20 go to Gludio and start finding parties to do the timed instances each day and the sign up for the catacombs( just check to make sure what side is doing well before you sign up) to get you up to 30 fast.

I found that thread on a japanese game portal site again. It was a guy hitting lvl 54 with a healer in 24hours. Wll of course he got some help of highlvl guildies. Anyways i was just wondering about it coz i always read that L2 is one of the hardest grinders.

  • BluppBlupp Member Posts: 131

Lvl 54 in 24 hours, I would doubt it. Even if u play 24/7 and grind at the optimized XP....still not possible....buuuut. The thing with L2 is that the grind gets...harsher ....harsher...and harsher. Sure most game is like this but for L2...for example: from lvl 1-72 you need 550 million XP and from lvl 72 to 76 you need 400 million XP.....almost as much as from 1-72.

Conclusion: The real hard grind starts at lvl 72+. Sooo happ y hunting to get there!

Could be that they talked about soloing RBs, only done it to level 40 so not sure how good it works after that.

    I made lvl 1 - 20 in ~ 1h

    classchange and 1st Kamaloka lvl 20 -  22 ~25 min

then its about 9  RBs if I dont remember wrong ( info can be very wrong ) to level 40

And how long that takes all depends on if they are all up.

So perhaps with the appropiat gear, buffs sws BD cov etc one could go 54 in that time if one found all the RBs up, not sure

Anyone saying that your stupid for picking L2 over Aion should commit suicide, cuz its 2 totally different games and imo L2 is a more mature game where you dont have daddy holding your hand all day, but thats just my opinion.

Not trying to hijack this thread and i know there's already one dedicated to this but.... Does anyone have a trial key they could hook me up with? I just D/Ld the trial from Fileplanet and set up a master account but i didn't get the actual key code. If anyone could help me out that would be great as i'm really wanting to give this game a shot.

  • Kuro1nKuro1n Member UncommonPosts: 775

Sorry i dont have a code, but just saying that if you try it you should give it a few days before judging it imo. : )
