Star Trek Online: Ask Cryptic: Player Progression Pt. 2

MikeBMikeB Community ManagerAdministrator RarePosts: 6,555

Cryptic Studios is looking to take questions on player progression for their next entry to the "Ask Cryptic" Q&A series.

These questions are intended to be the final set of player progression questions as they intend to move on to other subjects going forward. So if there are still some things you are confused or curious about, make sure you get a word in now or forever hold your peace!

Be sure to read Cryptic's primer on player progression as well as the previous Ask Cryptic entry before you submit your new questions, as you don't want to waste your submission on something that's already been asked.

Once you've done all that, you can submit your new questions at the designated forum thread here.

this is a great series of event that cryptic runs. They allow us to get to ask questions on topics and get some detailed responses. The player progression in this game is quite different than alot of games out there so its nice to get some attention/explaination added to it.

I've only been present for One ask cryptic session and it was pretty awesome.

Having the devs right there in IRC answering our questions as we ask them is about as close to asking them these questions face to face as i'll ever get since i don't live state side, so it's a real treat for me.

I didn't really ask any questions at the session i was in first, i just watched and got a feel of the way things were done.

It was really informative and cleared up quite a few misconceptions i had about the game, I'd reccomend that anyone who has questions about the game check out the next one.

(They also maintain transcripts of all sessions on their forums ;)  )

The "Ask Cryptic" sessions that I've seen, or even merely read transcripts of, have been very informative. It's always a pleasure to watch the game developers interact so closely and reactively with the fanbase. They've really tweaked their methods for the sessions, as well; they've added a lot more focus to the questions, allowing for greater depth and clarity. Before, the questions were all over the map. It's a good change.

    I have a question they won't answer -

Will it be rushed out to retail 6 months to a year too early like Champions Online was?

Yeah, I won't be holding my breath for an answer on that one.

That's not really a smartly put question now is it?

    This is not a game.

I don't think Champions was rushed.  Everything was doing pretty ok, until they nerfed the xp and created content gaps.  There were just a few missions that were bjorked, and those have been fixed.  Now, if they would just add some content that is good instead of these god awful repeatable instances.

Your own comment appears even less intelligent. Don't attempt snide/grandiose/pontificating comments when you lack the necessary command of the English language to pull it off.

Personally I am really enjoying the Ask cryptics and the IRC chats in general.

Makes a change to find an MMO company whose devs arent only so personable but actually DO listen, as opposed to pretend to listen.

STO has me very excited and I look forward to it a lot.

I have to say that the Devs at Cryptic are the very first ones EVER to give a hoot about the StarTrek EXPERIENCE. I have never seen a group so dedicated to the fans, so willing to listen, and so willing to make changes to keep the fans happy. They are doing things that I've NEVER seen in any MMO before, especially a StarTrek game, and I've seen them all.

    Indeed.

Another thing I find rather reassuring is how - if you keep an eye on the Cryptic Twitter, the Devs seem to have attention definitely focused on the exploration content of the game. It's really nice to know that there are people over there that care about the IP like many star trek fans do and strive to make a game they themselves would like to play.

And they definitely seem to do that so far. :D
