allakhazam will give you some Everquest history.
also, gamergod has some under the lore section. im sure there are some others but that should be enough, and of the course the official Everquest/Everquest 2 websites have some also.

If I had to pick a race that had the highest percentage of Role-Players, I would have to say Dwarves. Don't know what it is, but a lot of people that pick Dwarves like to role-play them.
