Cant find a decent guild

admriker444admriker444 Member Posts: 1,526

Im tiring of going to guild to guild. I just quit my 3rd one last night....

First guild never grouped period. I would beg players to group for elite quests cause I was up to 15 elite quests and could never get my guild together to do one. One night I finally talked them into an elite quest and got 4 players to agree to meet in SM in 20 min. I got there in 5 min and waited and waited and waited...finally after an hr I asked whats the delay. Turns out I was waiting on 2 of the members doing the previous needed quests. To me thats not fair to make the others wait. Not to mention leaving me stuck with nothing to do for an hr. I just logged for the night. The next night we all finally get together and sure enough the argument starts on which instance to do first. The mage wants to do his first, the pally want to kill the houndmaster, etc. Being the nice guy I go along and agree Ill help do both as long as we do mine (armory) as well. Sure enough, soon as the mage gets his book he has to log to study. That was the last straw so I quit from lack of total support and selfish immature gamers.

Second guild invited me after I helped on in a spider cave who couldnt mine by mining his incendinite ore for him. They all said the love to group so I thought finally I can do some elite quests. They did do elites, the problem was they werent very good at it. The warriors (think there were 4-5 in guild) were all rogue dps immitaters. I tried to explain to these mmorpg rookies that a warrior should be using a shield and one hand sword but they just didnt get it. Just by they way the chatted it was obvious I was trying to reason with a younger player. Between that and the fact that they always rolled on everything (even if it was cloth and soulbound) I decided to move on again.

My 3rd guild was the worst yet. I actually had to add half of them to my ignore list because of all the idiots making rude comments. One member decided he thought it would be funny to piss everyone off by placing 20 stacks of mithril on AH for 1g. I tried explaining to him that he was screwing a fellow guldie (me and two others) by doing that since we were selling for 4.5g per stack (which at time was cheapest on there). He just laughed us off. The officers did nothing to reign in his "fun" so I quit again.

I love WoW but the player base is really bad. Ive never had so many players on a ignore list in any mmorpg Ive played. Whats worse is that they have no basic understanding of mmorpg rules of conduct. Listening to someone try and sell something on trade channel is sad with all the flames and rofl what a thief comments. I sure hope they all quit soon or I may have to do because its ruining my gameplay. And I still have 11 elite quests to do and adding each day sigh

This the major problem I have with WoW and I'm glad its the only problem. The community from what I've seen tends to be horrible at times. I helped create three guilds over the past few days. The leaders seemed like decent people so when it was created it was nice talking with people. I log back on the next day to find the guild no more. Ugh. Right now I've stopped looking for guilds.

Also why in the hell can anyone answer a simple question. I've gotten this in other games but more so in this one over anything else. Everyone has to do turn every question asked into a damn joke and then get pissed off at you if you call them on it or ask the question again and they don't even attempt to answer it.

Still how is the guy putting up his item at a lower price a guild problem or something for the guild leaders to deal with? Sure they could kick him out but that's the worse they could do to him. Anyone pretty much has the right to put up an item for whatever price they want. Nothing saying you can't. Still I hate people that do this on purpose to piss of others.

I was tempted to join the server with my form DAoC guild was on but decided against it cause I never felt apart of them since they all tended to know each other in real life. I think its going to be a long time before I find a decent guild in this game. Really though I don't see the point in one. The chat system seems fine and since you can solo a lot of the game I don't see the advantage of guilding up other then setting up PvP. Which I won't activly be seeking for a while. I used to guild in other games for groups or to have people to talk to. Depending on the zone I'm in that isn't a problem and I don't really group. Pickup quest tend to work for the elitie quest I did but I think that might change later on when the quest get harder.

heh glad to see I wasn't the only one having the bad luck with guilds.  I just can't seem to find the one right for me, it has never taken this long, but after three guilds, now in my fourth I have no idea where to go with it.  I joined this last one because it sounded nice, just like the others...just hope it turns out well.  If not, i leave like the other's.

I am thinking *I* may be the problem, but is it wrong to want, a friendly, mature guild, that groups together?  It wasn't in EQ, I believe the above poster was right, the community seems different than any other MMO I have come across.  I am not saying it's ALL negative, I just have come across more negative players than I have positive ones.  I think it has to do with B.net, not 100% sure yet, but that is what it's leading me to believe.

That is my only complaint thus far about this game, the community is a bit off.  To all the nice and mature people out there, keep on! you make MMO's much more fun, trust me.

When looking for guilds, ask if the guild have a website. guilds in other games.
If they have that. The are a good choise, mutch better than the random made guilds!

In retail we will have the guild running after 30 min. Have made a guild tabbard, guilds on both factions.
I sugest you find this type of guild!

im not the only one that gets a whole:

ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME!!

    from your post?

Ever wonder why your not in a 'good' guild?. Either your looking for something too perfect. or nobody wants someone like you.

You seem very uncompromising and very impatient at new players.

I got a guild... its only 11 players strong at the moment but its for the EU beta so it should grow. There all my FRIENDS something i seem to think your missing...

I know what Neas means about people that just think about themselves and never work together with the guild and when something doesn't go there way they just leave. I've been in many guilds in range of different MMO's. I've always enjoyed playing in EU guilds that in US guilds. Not sure why to be honest.

Just hope when I get into the final beta with my pre-order cd-key I can find a good EU clan that I can be part of during the whole time I take part in WoW.

i dont know about other people but generally i join a guild i've made friends with one or two of the members.

I dont join it for success/power gaming ^ ^. I join it for a 'community' feel not for lvls, groups or monetary reward... pretty much all the reasons you left the guilds.

And you are right Eu guilds are generally better in that context. There not so... greedy.

To the original poster: I think you should just leave WoW altogether.

I mean how can a warrior possibly think he's allowed to use a two-handed sword in your majestic presence? He should consider himself lucky you didn't just snuff out his very existence with your mind-powers.

How can someone dare to sell things at the auction house at whatever price they choose? They probably think it's a free market or somesuch nonsense, but don't these fools realise how this displeases your almightyness?

You're obviously so utterly obsessed with your own amazingness and perfection, why would you even want to waste your incredible godlike aura on these lowly peasants?

There's only one solution: Make a guild yourself. You'll only need two ranks.

    You: God
    Everyone else: Ants

But let's face it... You belong in a game made for people like you, where everyone is like you, and that game is EQ2.

    Now go on! Get!!

See... and thats how we really know that Blizzard is full of geniouses.  I'm sure they were aware that alot of the player base would be young immature players, or morons, so the game was designed so that soloing is possible for every class.  Of course you can't solo instances unless you are 6 or so levels higher than it, but instances aren't worth anything until around level 40 where the loot is worth the time; by then you should have a good clan or a good group of players to play with.

By the way, what server do you play on?

Edited because I read some of the other more vicious posts:

Is it so wrong to hope for a guild that uses team work?  I mean the first guild (the one where the mage logged as soon as he completed his quest) he upheld his part of the bargain and got cheated, what's greedy about wanting the other end of the deal enacted?  Although I do admit that leaving the second guild because they were "all a bunch of newbs" was a bit immature and selfish.  This isn't a complete role playing game, there aresuch a thing as decent dps warriors (dual wielding or two handed).

2 guild experiences on the same server.

    1) Joined a guild after a brief chat with the Guild Leader. I explained I am a part time player but in it for fun and grouping. He said, cool, so are we. Not so casual though :-) I have lvld my Paladin to lvl 25 with the assistance of my fellow guildmates. 4 of us Paladins were all within a lvl or 2 of one another and we partied together all the time. Even complete the Paladin Hammer quest all together in one evening. It was awesome to have my then lvl 21 Paladin with such a nice weapon. When they outlvled me, I began to help the others in my guild also level. This included just random quests as well as elite quests. When we are doing an elite quest and need to hardcore firepower, one of the higher lvls (by 10+ lvls) will come and join to provide heavy hitting backup. I make armor for all the up and coming warriors because I can and I enjoy it. The dictate is not all need before greed, but guildmembers have first dibs on drops that the recipient can't use before it goes up in the AH (of course, it is usually about being online when the offer is made) and if someone is a few silver or Gold short for something in the AH, more than once have I seen a guildmember run to IF and loan the $. All of the above is not a mandate by the guild, it is what the people do. Sometimes, sometimes everyone is logged on and doing their own thing and that works too.

    2) My alt was given a random invite for a different guild. I accepted because I thought WTH, this was a pretty massive Guild. I saw their tag everywhere. Now I know why. they invite everyone, everywhere. They are 200+ strong and while they are huge, there is no community. The chat on the guild chat was...Well, not very interesting. I am sure I will see their tag everywhere and they will be huge because of their 'recruitment' methods (from lvls 1 to 40+, but the last logged in rate is a little....Spotty)

I will make this small pitch, if you play on the Perenolde server and are lvls 25+, Mactabilis is the guild in item 1. If you are a priest or a druid that is lvl 15+, then also keep an eye out for Mactabilis when they shout for recruiting. http://www.mactabilis.org/
