What grind?

glofishglofish Member UncommonPosts: 346

I'm level 21, and still have 11 quests in Verteron (a 10 to 20 zone). There does not seem to be a lack of quests so far.

I have run the Krall area three times. Note to the questless: do all quests, even those that send you to Sanctum or various places. New high value quests open up when you do that.

The game has some grind on the higher levels, but its nothing like some people want to make believe. Besides, with the need to get abyss points, i happily do the repeatable quests on the abyss to get some extra points and thus also leveling easily.

Oh goodness I used to get on EQ completely drunk, so much fun.... Of course that was a bit more dangerous...

I think people meaning the grinding the quests in general. While I'm having fun so far I'm just ready to get to the part where people do more grouping, which appears to be more in the later teens??

Either trolls or just lazy and don't want to search in towns for quests they want the quests to come to them instead of searching.

My character is level 27 I will say after level 22 you are introduced to the "grind" aspect of the game yes there are repeat quests to do conviently at the level where you'll need to grind. The quest givers are not that far from where the mobs are so you make a good chunk of gold and find some nice items most of the time while you grind so it doesn't bother me.

As far as leveling up strictly though quests that ends fast after level 22 and your forced to grind repeat quests at certain levels after the quests run dry. I also used aion armory at every level to find all quests that I could in my level range and I still needed to grind out repeats. www.aionarmory.com/search.aspx - Look for yourself

I can see where many get upset at this part of the game, but I do admit after a while you do get burned out from just doing repeat quests over and over again for 4 hours. After 25 the Abyss takes alot of the sting out of the grinding of repeat quests because your building up your title as well.

I played EQ1 from 1998 - 2001 when the level cap was still 60. It took me 110 in-game DAYS PLAYED to hit the cap. Anything that's less than half of that amount of time is fine with me.

Are you doing crafting, gathering, elite instance runs?? all these things add up to xp in the end. I've never had any issue with quests and like i said my log book is full at 33. You wont get levels handed to you like in WoW by just talking to NPCs.

I ran into my first drought with quests yesterday at level 27.  Still, considering how much fun running around the Abyss is it didn't bother me any.  I had enough from quests and redoing the training grounds instance to get more than 3/4 the way through the level but the rest I had to "grind".

Of course, it probably would have gone faster if I would have done it in Eltnon but getting into PvP skirmishes from time to time was rather fun.  I needed stigma shards anyways so I would have needed to kill abyss mobs regardless if I had any quests to do so or not.

That was the first time I had to do that in this game and quite frankly didn't bother me in the least.  Now at level 28 I have some more quests available although i'll probably run the training grounds instance one last time in the hope of getting some nice loot.  Got some rather nice blue gloves from there the other day :D

    1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.

    2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.

    3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose.

And some on the subject, it does not matter much to me if there are no quests. Killing mobs goes fast enough anyways. I think it goes a little slower to level now at level 27, but hell, each time I look on the XP gauge I get surprised it has moved up 10%.

What matters is still TIME. How long it takes between each level.

Quest XP is VERY VERY uninspiring to say the least when you pass level 20. You still find quests with the same XP rewards as like 9 levels ago... and each level increases the amount of XP required by about 400k. So getting 30k xp for a quest when you need 3million 600k is not very fun, if you know what I mean.
