15 Days Trial.

I think that the authors of that game sucks. They make banners where it says: "15 days trial of Asherons Call 2!", But when you've downloaded and installed the game and are ready to set up an account, it says: "Please fill in your credit card info so that we can charge you when your trial is over." Why the hell shall they charge me for something that is free? Isn't a trial made for people who just wanna test the game, and if they finds it funny, buy it. I dont wanna be forced to buy a game just for being allowed to test it. Crap!

"Q: Why do I have to enter credit card information to play the free trial of Asheron’s Call 2?

A: Although credit card information is required to access and enjoy the free trial of Asheron’s Call 2: Fallen Kings, the 15-day version is provided to you at no cost. If a player chooses to continue playing AC2 after the free trial period expires, their credit card will be billed automatically for a month of unlimited access. However, if the player decides they do not want to continue enjoying AC2 before the free trial expires, they need to cancel prior to the end of the 15-day trail – they will not be billed and they will no longer have access to the service.

Requiring credit card information to experience the free trial is an important step in providing a safe and enjoyable service for Turbine’s customers. If you have a credit card, you are most likely an adult or have the permission of an adult to play the game. In addition, when you agree to provide your credit card information you express a serious interest in checking out the adventures in AC2 and becoming a part of its vibrant community.

While we understand that some prospective players might not have a credit card, and therefore may not be able to take advantage of the trial, we feel that this is a legitimate – and necessary – requirement to use the 15-day trial."

Before you could play ac2 free trial without give any info just give email and you could play ,now ac2 suffer from low pop they chance system into 15 freetrail with credit card that will be a hurdle to high amount  of peeps to try ac2:(

I know why they do it but if peeps could play ac2 without giving credit card for free trail you have higher pops on servers and peeps see hey 500 peeps playing example but now i know it stay low becouse most dont want play free trail with giving credit card number.

People who have no credit card have no capability of playing in the future and probably have no intention of really paying to play at all. So, I say good riddance. AC2's population isn't that bad, there are 300+ people on Forstfell and Thistledown right now. That's not great but there are MMO's out there that are a lot worse off.

Not entirely true ive got some friends who played also free trial first 15days 2 or 3 times but then desided to buy ac2 and pay for becouse after those 3 times try out free trail they where hooked.

And 300 lol thats low whats prolem if you have like 50 or 60 freetrial players they in lowbee area and if they tell about ac2 also to friends and as i said above some gonne play it then or tell friends to go play it dont see any harm in that?

Darktide could use some new players lol max 70 peeps its very low:P

Basically all your saying then is AC2 needs a longer trial. Since it takes longer than 15 days to get hooked. The credit card check can remain in place to verify people have intentions of playing and don't live purely off of free trials.

There really aren't any free trial players right now because of WoW beta basically.  I have looked in the noob areas and seen none.

The populations should pick up significantly once the expansion pack is released... it will basically be treated as a new game.

It is ILLEGAL to refuse CASH MONEY-HA!

If I want to pay for something with a form of payment, namely CASHOLA (yea-cold-hard-CASH), it is ILLEGAL for them to refuse this in exchange for products OR services :P ::::35:: I can even pay 'em in PENNIES if I wanted (so long as they're rolled-lol)-HA!

The only problem I have with putting credit card information in during free trails and this really more about doing it during the winter months is becase of the weather. Power is more likely to go out due to ice on trees, snow, freezing rain. Which has happen in my area at times and it comes at random times. What if you miss a day or two due to this and you can't cancel your account. Now you get charged for something you didn't want to pay for. Will they refund your money if you want no access right then and there? NO. Will they believe you? Most likely no. This is why I'm glad Saga of Ryzom came out with its free trial that now requires no credit card. Now I can finally test it out without worrying if I'll be charged if I don't cancel in time for whatever reason comes up.

Just signed up for AC2 so I can tell you what I went through.  Yes, it made me use a CC.  I have a Visa debit card and used that.  After the first day I cancelled my account.  You can keep playing until the account expires, so I will still get my full 15 days.  I don't have to worry about forgetting to cancel, or losing access to my account info for any reason.  If I decide to stay, I can reactive and keep playing where I left off and will be billed as normal.  Just an idea.

I'm really confused here. I downloaded and installed the game patiently awaiting the free trial. Now it would seem that I have to actually purchase the game to get a game code, to then be able to play the free trial. Am I doing something wrong or is the only thing free here the 15 days and not the initial cost of $9.95 for the game?

Hmmm, I just found this on their website..

"To play the Free Trial, you need to use the program shortcut "Asheron's Call 2 Free Trial" which is on your desktop or in your Start Menu. If you use the regular shortcut "Asheron's Call 2," the Launcher will treat you like a regular customer, and therefore ask for a Program Key."

I used the link to download the free trial directly from here mmorpg.com... My download didn't include a shortcut for asheron's call 2 free trial, just asheron's call. If I did install the correct one but I just don't have a shortcut to it, would anyone know the Run command I can use to execute it instead?

I think it is normal... Because other games did the same for their trial period. Of course it would be much better if they do not require credit card number when we creat an account but it is also possible that their program or database is designed not to leave the billing method empty:) Take it easy!
