A carebear is essentially the opposite of a griefer. Griefers think you pay X dollars a month so they can camp your corpse and kill you over and over for as long as it entertains them. A carebear is anyone who doesn't want some 12-year-old chump to ruin their short time available to play a game, and demands game mechanics and rules that prevent ganking and griefing.

I have to agree, the safest, or imo closest daffynition, would be, a non-PvP server/player. Doesn't matter why... cause everyone has a different reason or a different lvl of reason.

Anyone who care more about leveling, doing some quest, collecting some random l337 gear to show off (if u ever played UO go to any trammel bank u know what i mean), speaking of trammel people who only stayed in trammel. All people who played EQ cuz as we all know EQ is about questing, months if not years if level grinding, and little to no PvP.
Also Carebear are people who rather say "Please don't attack me" or some other garbage instead of using their weapons to defend themselves, yet when it comes to PvM/PvE they slay anything and act like a virtual badass.
Carebears are also virtual cowards, they talk big and bad about tyring to do good and help people, but when push comes to shove they run, recall, hide and complain like any other newbie.
Carebears are also bipedal bears from the land of carealot, who watch a caring meter to see if the world stops or has less people who care. They have a "stare" which helps clean people hearts if rumors i heard from my young niece serve my memory correctly.

I'd be classified as a carebear probably... I really like FPSs but hate PvP in RPGs. Maybe it's just me, but I don't like dying (which I usually do) and then getting my corpse looted, mocked, and repeating the process. Usually though it's only 1. dying & 2. getting looted. 40-50% of the time it'd probably be the casual "you suck" or patronizing "thanks for the loot". In an FPS, I don't build on a character - just my own skill. Sure, there are plenty of people who curse you constantly, but they usually don't if they're the ones doing the killing since they are caught up in the action. If they die, they usually have the time to respawn and weave a string of flattering words (such as in CS). Anyway, now you know where I stand (if you even care .

Hmm...I'm not afraid to pvp and I hate to grind. But I don't like killing lower level players - that is why I thought I might be a carebear.
Also used as a term for game systems which prevent you getting hurt.
Thus making the world seem as friendly as a carebear, with no real danger
