I been trying MMOs for the last past year and yet to find a MMO that can hold me like WOW did before TBC xpac came out, however i just been jumping from MMO to MMO from F2P to P2P, and none are good enogh for me, lately i've been hearing ALOT about this game i try this game before launch and i didn't like it at all, but the more i see screen shots and videos and post by people who love this ame , makes me think i'm missing out here , so my question is how would you rate this game and how would you recommend it to others or friends?.

WOW!
I can't believe I'm not alone. I too have been searching for that MMO to recapture my experience as was with WoW before TBC. I too have yet to find it and decided to looking into LOTRO. Unfortunately, I cannot answer your question, but you are not alone. My only fear is that LOTRO has too few people left to play with... espeically with the release of Aion.
Past: EQ, EQ2, DAoC, SWG, WoW, LotR, VG, WAR, GW, GW2, Rift
Present: The Elder Scrolls Online
Future: Everquest Next
I've been playing LoTRo and it is a good game. I'm only lvl 30 but I see a few people hear and there. The towns and stuff have more people they I see in eq2 which is the main game I'm playing now. I think LoTRo kept the game to having 1 or two progression areas thorught the game leveling up. Where EQ2 has a lot more leveling paths. I know that eq2 has tons of people at the high lvls but only being lvl 30 in LoTRo I can't have a feel for the high lvls in LoTRo. At lvl 30 even though I see a couple people from time to time I don't have any way of judging the high end. Chat is zone wide so LoTRo tends to feel a pretty lonely without the constant chat you have in eq2...
But as far as the game goes the quests are good and the game works well.

There's lots of people still playing LOTRO. Hop on brandywine, one of the most populated servers.
What i tell friends is that the game is about story and exploration. If they enjoy that they will perhaps enjoy the game.
I play on Brandywine and there doesn't seem to be any less players since the launch of Aion. Don't forget they are two very different styles of game, LOTRO being PVE focussed and Aion being PVP. Also, the majority of players in LOTRO are Lord of the Rings fans, or Tolkein fans, so that adds a little stability to the player base.
I am part of an online gaming community or 460 players and LOTRO is our main game. What we have found is that very few of our players are trying Aion because very few liked the anime styling to Aion. Of course there is nothing wrong with this but the jump from the LOTRO styling to Aion is a much bigger jump than say the WoW styling to Aion (this is just my opinion of course). I would recommend you try LOTRO, grab a free trial and see what you think, it could be your cup of tea ... or not. If you do try it, I hope you do like it and want to stay, if not, I hope you find that game that recreates your first excitement you had in WoW.
Beware of one thing, there is something oddly special about your first MMORPG, I for one started with pre-nge SWG and nothing I have played since has lived up to the fun I had there (buggy and badly coded though it was). I have enjoyed EQ2, WoW and LOTRO since I quite SWG, and I find that LOTRO to be the best spot for me, I hope you find yours ....
I dont think any of the PVE games have anything go fear from Aion. I bounce between LOTRO and EQ2 and as the previous poster said, i see no lack of players in LOTRO or EQ2.
I think that WoW might take a hit, all the guys I used to play alongside there, are now playing Aion and feel that it has potential. Mind you, I played on a PVP server there so the PVE and RPVE might be unaffected.

Yes I agree. The people who enjoy PVP in WOW may move to Aion as well as some who are just burned out on WOW as a whole.
So i finally took the step and buy LOTRO after alot of research its actually the game i am looking for
1) i enjoy exploration
2) i love PvE(dungeons and quest)
3) So far i heard nothing but good things about the comunity and hoping to spend some time playing this game
Althoug the game its dowloading as i'm typing here , not sure where to go (server) or what class to play =/ ; anyone has any tips?
I played LoTRO for 6 months and loved it.
It is primarily a PvE game and you can solo or group to maximum level. There are group and raid instances for the endgame.
There is an emphasis on quests in this game, so it is not for everyone. Quests give significant experience. While there are plenty of the kill 10 mobs and postal type quests, a lot of effort has been put into including other quality quests. Many of the book quests include short cinematic sequences. Many quests can be solved with minimal fighting. Some of the quests in The Shire are different from quests I have done in other games.
There are also group and raid instances at lower levels, but not many people participate in the lower level raids.
Crafted gear is very good up until level 50. Current maximum level is 60 and the cap is soon to be increased to 65.
You can go to the Ettenmoors if you wish to PvP. There were major class imbalances in the PvP and I am not sure whether the PvP changes have successfully fixed this issue. An interesting twist to PvP is that you can create a maximum level PvP toon on the monster side without having to level through PvE.
There is a free trial. However, if player numbers are high as they were when the Moria expansion was released, the free trial may not be available for a time if the servers are running close to full capacity.
I recently returned to LoTRO to get ready for the next expansion that will raise the level cap. The game seems more crowded now, so I think a lot of players have returned to the game.
Brandywine is the busiest server. Landroval is the (unofficial) RP server. Elendilmir is the (unofficial) Aus/NZ server, although the majority of players are from North America. When you first log in you may see servers listed as "recommended for new players." Those tend to be the least populated.
Hedonismbot: Your latest performance was as delectable as dipping my bottom over and over into a bath of the silkiest oils and creams.
I wouldn't recommend this game to anyone, not even my worst enemies. Don't waste your time or money. Maybe if this was a free MMO then, yes, but it's not.
I have played LOTRO for over 2 years and still look forward to getting time every evening to play. I tried the beta and wasn't sure I would like it but finally decided to try it and got hooked. There are so many things to do in the game. I am on Brandywine and find a large community and most of the people are helpful and responsive to questions or grouping.
The story line is great and I have actually read the quests in this game. Give it a try!
It is a very decent game. Barring a few of the storybook quests, a solo game till you do the dungeons.
You do not have to solo, and pug's are easy to get mostly. But unless you have a friend starting at same time, you mostly will solo, or join pug's in the zones that you are questing in .
Was one of the nicest communities i have seen in all my years playing on-line games as well. (was on brandywine)
The higher lvl dungeons (raids i guess) you do need groups, so if you like the game and get it, keep an eye out for a active guild (kinships i think they are called there). Been a year or so since i stopped playing, got a couple characters to max (at that time) lvl. Dungeons/raiding never interested me much so i moved on.
The more mature responses have given specific reasons why to subscribe while this troll gives none.
Pay no attention to the trolls. (ok so i broke my own rule)
I also am coming back to lotro. I enjoy the heck out of the game. My only complaint is the insane amounts of bears boars and wolves i have to kill.
I guess the important question is, what are you looking for?
I would and do recommend this game to my friends, i started in on the trial expecting to dislike this game, not really into the whole Tolkien thing, but much to my surprise i got into it, and really enjoy it, i have been playing since February, and still play quite heavily. i have characters ranging from 14 to 60 at this point, and see plenty of people playing at almost all times of the day or nite. one of the things i like about playing LotRO is that its player base is fairly mature, due to its subject matter, it attracts older more mature players than most MMOs out there. and this for me make a much better gaming experience.
