NDoors provides us with our third exclusive reveal of one of Atlantica Online's new mercenaries. This week we learn all about The Punisher.
They say good things come in threes. Well, we’re happy to introduce to you the next new mercenary, in our third consecutive update, the Punisher! Inspired after a popular character of the 19th century dime novels, the Punisher’s hero form is Frank Reade, the adventurous hero inventor created and popularized by Harry Enton.
Read it all here.

let me guess...level 129 quest required, including 2 daily quests back to back for a total 3 day quest time, 2 deposits of 500 collection points and a Hell Horse sacrifice and you too can add the punisher to your ranks (remember to buy another merc room license at our friendly valued item mall)
LOL
Rofl good one. but also as an archer this really pisses me off!!
Yeah, the updates to Alantica have really been disappointing. Additions that only only high level people can get, and even that is with tons of CS use.
And the sad thing is, the first two of those mercs are basically worthless, or so it seems. I've only seen a few in FL, and they weren't too memorable either way.
Of course, I mostly do ABFL, where it's almost entirely bots, another thing Ndoors doesn't seem to care about (I've submitted tickets to no avail...).
This game started off really promising, but it's really being run into the ground...
R.I.P. City of Heroes and my 17 characters there
"I mostly do ABFL, which is almost nothing but bots"... are you saying that ABFL is being cheated by bot users? I dont understand, because you cannot make any moves in ABFL, because you have no control over anyone but your main character.
But besides that, I think that some people need to look at these updates from the business side of the standpoint. AO's population is mainly members who are hardcore levelers, and have no issue grinding out, hours at a time. Some members need a push to take the game seriously, so they dangle these new updates above them, in the form of level 100+ quests.
Why in the world would you come out with new material, that is more of an achievement, but has no value in the sense that it took absolutely no effort to acquire. I, quite personally, would feel cheated. Knowing that you are high enough level to actually do these quests, and to complete them, feels like an achievement. Not to mention, a majority of AO's populace is consisted of mainly level 95+ people.
I think that people should stop complaining about updates. People whine and complain when their favorite game hasn't come out with anything new in forever (like Shattered Galaxy). And then whine and complain when they finally do.
At least we don't have to pay $20 per major update, unlike Ever Quest and World of Warcraft. We can enjoy the freedom of clicking "Download Patch" and get all this stuff for free.
Or we could all just have went without the level 100+ mercenaries, and we can just live with the original set, and be completely bored out of our minds.

First off AO is Anarchy Online, so you better find another acronym for Atlantica online.
Secondly the only thing these developers are catering to any more are the high level spenders.
Ndoors has effectively killed this game. It is no longer noteworthy. Instead of fixing the borked strategy combat or adding content that the majority of the playerbase can enjoy, they institute changes that require large expenditures in the item shop.
Sorry, but all I can do is laugh at anyone still playing this game, you are just a shill for the developers.
@ Pootio
You are a laugh riot NDoors shill. Your post is a brown nosing pile of utter bunk. The player base you speak of has been screaming foul and quitting by the truckloads for a couple months now. (And only quitting faster since the last patch and rumors about the next). No one ever complained about the lack of "Challenge" in ATO, only a lack of end game content. If you think any gamer here is STUPID enough to believe your claim that what NDoors has been doing is "making more challenge" then you are the last person who should be the ATO Correspondant...lol
NDoors has done nothing but NERF everything they could find, and then overpower everything else in an effor to force HUGE and UNREASONABLE use of the item mall to even attempt the new content (Or gameplay at all from lvl 90 or so up). 95% of the player base has no access nor ever will to the new content they've been adding because no one is gonna pay 50-100$ a month for an MMO. The fact that so many have been quitting lately (Most of those have been that so called "top lvl 95+" you mentioned shows that YOU and NDoors are obviously WRONG.
ATO is crashing and burning (And very fast at that) soley due the new direction (one of total greed) that NDoors has been taking it. You can play "NDoors appologetic" all you want to, and I myself then wonder who you are working for...NDoors or MMORPG because you are obviously not giving the gamers here a true view of what going on in that game from a total playerbase point of view. Even some of the most die hard players have said they would be quitting if the next patch includes some of the things that has been rumoured to be coming in it (Such as a nerf on the box droprate of all indy dungeons to stop players from making money that way, because NDoors wants them to buy items from the mall to sell in-game as the ONLY source of high end income.!!!)
Do you even READ the ATO official forum? If you did you would know these things. The facts of the situation dispel your whole post. Player base and activity has dropped SHARPLY over the last few patches, player abandonment of the game has increased steadily and is only getting worse. This , all by itself, should indicate there's a serious problem going on. The problem is NDoors' unreasonable greed. Everyone smells death on ATO if Ndoors doesn't put things back like it was (And that includes the direction the game WAS going in 6-8 months ago).
Sorry Mr. "Correspondant" but that's the facts jack. IF anyone wants to confirm that, play the game and see.
Then I suppose the mainstream player enjoys paying monthly fees.
Go ahead and whine about the Item Mall, in case your imagination prevents you from seeing the "Big Picture" (Which actually isn't all that big) The tremendous amount of work it takes to produce this game AND its patches is directly contributed BY the Item Mall.
All I hear is QQing about AO (And I will use AO, I never played Anarchy Online, because it wasn't noteworthy for me). If you don't like Atlantica Online, then why are you posting page long responses about it? It seems quite Counter Productive for someone who seems to know what they are talking about.
Quite frankly, I spend $10 a month on AO, because I, Like anyone else who has played an actual MMORPG, has went through the trouble of finding a way to make money in-game. Just because you don't have the capacity to fulfill such a mission, doesn't mean you should ruin it for the rest of the world.
If this makes me a brown noser, then so be it, quite frankly I think it's a good look. Otherwise, if you don't have anything more intelligent to say (or nice for that matter) About AO and it's releases, then I believe this is your cue to "Move On". Im sure there is an empty spot in WoW waiting for you. Just be sure to ask your parents if you can spend that much.

LOL...I've spent a whole lot more in the item mall than YOU have based on your admission. When a gamer sees a game they LOVE go down the toilet, they "Write page long comments" in response to posts like yours. Here's a quick rundown of MY vanity items. EVERYTHING I list here was gotten with REAL MONEY from the item mall boxes by me. 2 Shires, Heavenly Horse, 3 Raptors, Armed Raptor, Snow TIger, War Griffon and Mars RIder. Full Scarlet Costume and Full Elegant Victorian Costume. Wings Of Light. This ON TOP of a monthly Teleport License. I've bought 100's of gambling boxes (which is why I have close to 1000 freezing scrolls, 400 Judgement scroll and 400 ressurection and life blessing scrolls all from booby prizes from the boxes) and 6 permanate Merc Room Licenses.
I have never purchased an item mall item with ingame gold which is IRRELEVANT anyway because YOU are still PAYING TO PLAY (And alot more than 10 bucks) because someone ELSE is paying for all the item mall items YOU are having to use to PLAY this F2P game!!!
I love it when people like you admit to buying item mall items in-game as a defense that you can "Play for free" when what that means to every other intelligent gamer is that SOMEONE else is PAYING for you to play. Then you act like people are "Crying" about the patches and nerfs when NDoors has been nerfing every way to MAKE in-game gold for months now!!! While you admit that they have to make in-game gold to purchase item mall items IN-GAME to avoid paying 30-100$ a month themselves for this f2p MMO...LOL
In the end as stated, I have obviously "Supported" NDoors financial situation a WHOLE lot more than you have, and by your own admission to it's importance, that then gives me a whole lot more right to complain about the destruction of the game I must obviously love to have spent so much real life money on it!!!
So why did I do it, because the game WAS fun and the direction it was going 6 months ago was great. The game was balanced, there was ample challenge and plesant gaming atmosphere, fair in-game money making mechanics, fair crafting mechanics, decent balance between mob power and boss power compared to player merc team power. ALL this led to a great many players not minding at all supporting the game with purchase of vanity items and item mall extras. This has all started grinding to a halt. There is a big difference between supporting a game you love and a company rigging the game to rip you off and FORCE you to spend that much to even play with a reasonable chance to advance.
All anyone need do is type in "ninja nerfs" and Atlantica" into google, it's this forum, it's other gaming forums, it's the official forums...MY POINTS are spoken by gamers all over the net. in their discussions of why they left or don't log in anymore or are going to quit. IF YOU loved Atlantica "Mr Correspondant" then you'd be doing what I'm doing. You be trying to save it instead of attempting to whitewash it in public to trick new players into coming who will only be anrgy when they find your "review" and "statements" incorrect. You'd be telling the truth so as not to build any more bad blood with the gaming community by trying to recruit noobs into the game without full disclousure.
Fact is, in the currect direction, Atlantica will not last long and there is no reason to waste your time on this game as it is now...but you sure would love it if it were like it was for those of use who were there from DAY 1!!! You'd be just as PO'd as we are that NDoors has decided to kill the game with their greed and ninja nerfs to support said greed. It is sad. And like all Dev Shills you only make it sadder and sillier when you try to defend what they are doing..lol But most gamers just are not that stupid!
As an opening statement, I have been playing AO since Open Beta.
Listing your Item Mall items doesn't really say much, except for your lack of personal control. Spending $100's a month on any game is your choosing. NDOORS does not come to your home and force you to spend anything. And you act as though my $10 a month is petty cash, and I have no right to say what I want about AO, or to defend it for that matter. Quite frankly, it doesn't matter how much a person spends on a game... it doesn't matter if someone doesn't spend anything on AO. Word is free, so don't act as though you are on a higher pedestal than everyone else.
While my title does say Atlantica Online Correspondant, I am a regular gamer just like everyone else. I am not endorsed by NDOORS to "whitewash" anything. I write articles about AO for those who want to read them. My opinion is my own and true.
And what is this talk about "Ninja-Nerfing"? I would like to know exactly what has been nerfed. You say that NDOORS is trying to hinder their players ability to gain gold. If that were the case, they never would have brought the Jackpotting system into play.
I quite personally can spend 2 hours on Saturday, fighting in Goonzu world, and come out with 3-500 Million gold worth of Jackpot items ready to sell. Not to mention I know of someone that grossed "9 Billion" in Jackpotted items in just 3 weeks.
Maybe AO just isn't your slice of pie. If that's the case, don't write on the boards slandering the game, because your experience sucks.

Seems to me that the so called correspondent has lost their sense of direction. All I see is some talking about Anarchy Online when they should be talking about Atlantica online. Pretty funny.
Oh and if you can't figure out that Atlantica Online is tanking badly lately you are as blind as a bat.
@Ozmodan
Then perhaps you should read the entire response.

I've been looking forward to playing with the Punisher merc, but frankly, the translation of the KOA patch notes leave me more than a little chagrined. If some of the nerfs make it over to the US servers along with the Punisher, I'm going to leave the game - i.e. reducing Free League tourneys from 8 matches to 6; nerfing gold from PVE encounters; nerfing XP, etc. All this is could only be explained as a move by Ndoors to drive people to the item mall - and frankly, I cannot afford it.
It would be much cheaper, I think, to play Aion for 15 bucks a month, than to constantly have to shell out real life money for atlas ore to sell on market, so you could afford thehearts, spartan shields, armor, etc.
Odd... I always thought the Punisher was from Marvel.
Huh.
I played A(t)O 4-5 months ago....
I guess I left just before the bomb dropped; I didn't ever hear about any nerfs. Wow, I'm lucky...
