I know everyone says the Abyss and stuff is fun, and the game is better later on, but I find myself always getting bored with my characters at around level 13. I'm finding it extremely hard to stay interested in playing. I'd love to find this extremely fun and want to play it non-stop and all that, but it doesn't look like it's going to happen.
I'll try and force myself to keep leveling in hopes the game picks up soon, but we'll see how that goes.
It's not a bad game at all, I just don't find it compelling for some reason. I could be just burnt out on MMO's, who knows.
Many of you all having the same problem?

Sounds like you're playing a class you can't enjoy in the early stages. This happens. In one hand this simply may not be an enjoyable game for you on the other you may not enjoy the playstyle you chose. Try rolling something else. I went 1-20 on a Gladiator in like 14 hours... had a lot of fun tearing through mobs. Also finding people to play with or socialize with helps for all MMO experiences. Best of luck.
"Sometimes people say stuff they don''t mean, but more often then that they don''t say things they do mean"
i sure wish more would feel like you ,hell freaking time card are as wii were to get in the first year
its a knighmare
I actually don't in Aion but I have in many other MMO's. That's why I love Aion so much, it makes me want to work on my character more and more... 10-20 I even say I enjoyed. Did Elyos side, now doing Asmo side as an alt. I'll level to 50 whatever one I enjoyed more (as you can tell - Im not in a super mad rush to get to level cap like most).
That being said, I know what your going through and there's only a couple of remedies (most have already been said). You could try rolling another class (may I ask which you chose)? Or you might just be burned out on themepark MMOs. I was for a while, went to play EVE which is very different but it didn't stick more than a few months. Basically I played it until Aion and now Im very happy with it having to take a break. Wish you the best of luck - hopefully see you in game
I was in the same boat as you. I got to level 12, then I just couldn't be bothered to log in any more. A few days later, I thought I'd force myself to play a bit more as it was bound to get better. Then, at level 17 I finally decided that enough was enough and quit it. It was simply not fun or engaging in any way up to that point so I thought my money would be better spent elsewhere. I'm normally an altaholic in MMOs, and the thought of going through 1-17 again in Aion just made me shiver.
no. this guy is just new to mmorpg I think and get bored with grinding. I would recommend him go buy console, xbox360 or ps3.
I didn't like my class at 13, but in the 20s you get a good amount of new abilities and can start using stigma stones...
I would get to 22-23 before making a choice about liking a class.
Never had the same problem, mainly because lvls1-20s never took me any time at all so I never stopped to think "damn, I'm getting bored". Everything is a piece of cake and whooshes by extremely quickly.
What I will say though, is that even though the game changes a bit at 20, then radically at lvl25, If you're not enjoying it at lvl13 I suggest you don't force yourself.
Take a break, maybe you really are burnt out on MMOs, this traditional, level grind kind at least!
I'm in the same boat but I level higher. Got an Assassin to 29, I was terribly bored with him. I leveled 25-29 in the Abyss and I found it more fun to sit on the forums and troll. So I decided to level a Chanter, got to 22 and I hit the boredom wall before the Abyss on this character so now I'm leveling a Ranger. This is the first game where I simply just get bored really fast while leveling.
A friend of mine has been going through the same deal. He just bought the game last week, and told me he was going to make a Cleric because he wanted to heal in this game. He's 18 now and hasn't logged in for 2 days. He told me he's just simply bored already and Aion isn't really "hooking" him. I've convinced him to suffer it out and see the Abyss before he fully gives up even if he's still bored. Just to at least get his moneys worth.
I think if the Abyss started earlier for lower tier players (like a 3rd level in the abyss), the game would be a bit more fun for someone like me. The first 25 levels are pretty much a waste of time in my opinion.
Unfortunately all level based games can be boring if you're plugging away and not getting enjoyment
Sorry to hear you're in this boat... I had the same thing happened to me when all my old WAR buddies were rerolling to another server. I got to 20 and was so bored I just couldn't bring myself to play.
Since then I've been on a MMO "halt" until Aion was released. Now Im really enjoying leveling again... but as a whole - I don't enjoy it much. Still there's so much to do here that I find Im really hooked - but obviously everyone (and their experiences) are different.
My beef with Aion doesn't have much to do with the design, more the poor community... anyways - hopefully you enjoy it here, and if not best of luck with your next MMO. Im afraid all level based games might have a similar affect tho

Actually not all level based games have that same effect with me. I've played pretty much every single triple A title, and Aion is just one of those games that bores me to tears.

That's fair enough... at least you gave it a try and can say "hey I don't like it". Ive had many games like that...
Wish you luck with whatever MMO you decide. I was just speaking for me, personally...
One thing is for sure... why did they have to spread the abilities out to every 3 levels? Get my abilities at 10, then at 13, I get 3-4 more skills. Why didn't they make it so you get something every level, or at least second level? Sorry to bring up WoW as an example here, but one thing that makes it more exciting to level is that I get talent point each level to add to something, as well as gear constantly changing, and new abilities (whether new, or upgrades) every second level to 60, then every level after 60.
I feel there's not near as much progression as there should be, and what progression there is is spread out too much. But that's just my opinion.
Also, the having to grind to 25 before the real game supposedly starts isn't fun, either. But that's the way the wind blows.
pvp can start as early as lvl 20. I would argue that it all is the real game as it is a pve and pvp game.

It's a nightmare."

Why is that?
I have played mmo's for years so how would you class me? "this guy has played mmo's to long and is just bored"?
I did not find Aion much fun after level 20,I soldiered on until level 26 but again I dont see the fun,I guess I am burnt out?
I am now playing Fallen Earth and having a great time.
I guess maybe I am not burned out with mmo's...unless you have another opinion .
If someone had came up to me in 1980 when I was on my Atari 2600 and said we will be playing games with thousands of people at the same time.I guess my response would have been,"but I only have 2 joysticks"

Glad you said it so I don't have to
=D
I find myself feeling the same way as the OP with most MMOs right now. Just can't quite get into any....
