I think Aions a great game and no launch as big as this is going to be perfect .I was there at the launch of WoW and it had as many problems .What it think Ncsoft needs to do is recognise that the game has been far more popular than they had anticipated and while i applaud that they are expanding the number of servers they also need to realise they have to offer current players some compensation for the problems they have experianced wth the launch .if they dont want them going back to likes of Warcraft . If they get this wrong then a game that has great potential could be damaged due to bad management by Ncsoft . A little goodwill gesture now will reap great rewards in the future . No action could lead to great loses .

They don't 'have' to do anything. Players are owed nothing, they agreed to the TOS which I'm sure clearly states that they are not entitled to compensation for downtimes, play at their own risk, yadda yadda yadda. Pretty much every TOS for an MMO ever written says something to that effect, I'd be extremely shocked if one didn't.
I agree that it would be a good PR move on NCSoft's part to offer something, though. A little show of good faith right now would go a long way in not only retaining loyal customers, but winning over those whom due to past experiences and the like, might be unwilling to trust NC. Word of good PR spreads just as fast as that of bad.
Ive had to wait about 15 mins tops TOTAL in order to get into my sever................. Its just people all wanna play on the most popular sever when there are clearly severs without any que
No they don't. /thread
Bans a perma, but so are sigs in necro posts.
EAT ME MMORPG.com!
putting "have" like that suggests your quoting me . i did nt say that they have to do it . but we both seam to agree that it would be a good PR move .
Just look at it this way...
If so many ppl are clogging the proverbial doorway, then the wait will amplify the fun. If not, move along and let someone else in.
Sorry but this is BS,
In the EU Telemachus server was 1 of the most quietest server's on release so our guild joined there,on our head start we had no queue's then when the main start hit we have been queue'd ever since.
During the week we can expect maybe somewhere between 1 hour and 2 hours,on a Sunday it can go as far as near 3 hours.
You say that people want to join the most popular server's,well they have little choice as our's was the lowest and now every server is full and has queue's!
What server should they join then?..maybe they should wait until a new server is released?
If someone had came up to me in 1980 when I was on my Atari 2600 and said we will be playing games with thousands of people at the same time.I guess my response would have been,"but I only have 2 joysticks"

Well, to be fair, you did put 'need' in the title :P
I kind of put that in as a preemptive measure to stave off the horde of people nowadays who think they're entitled to something for free because they can't play at the exact moment they want to all the time. In fact, I'm surprised none of them have showed up yet...
so this is why ncsoft are looking at expanding the number of servers as well as offering free transfers . if there was really that many servers without any que at most times then why do they need to expand on what they have ?
look i think Aion is the best mmo in many years . ( just thought i d say that so you know i m not trolling ) but i know of some people that have gone back to their old mmos because of the ques

ahh good move . i did phrase it as a question though not a statement . there is a difference . yeah i hope it does nt open doors to trolls but i think its a topic worth bringing up .
Actually, I haven't had any load times for my server on primetime the last 2 days or so. Most I have had in the past week is 2 hours. That being said, it was nothing like pre-launch (7+ hours).
I do think that NCSoft and other developers need to be held accountable in some way for such poor business practices for launches. Be it a free week, month, or whatever is really the bare minimum that can be offered.
As for whether it's legal or not, this whole area of law is so entirely new and unexplored that eventually, there will be put laws in place to safeguard the consumer in the end. You can recite the TOS "not guaranteeing us anything" till our ears and eyes bleed, but once a class action suit like this is brought to US courts and escalated to a court with some bearing (with a ruling in the consumers' favor), this sort of behavior will continue to go on unpunished.
Once, and if, the US courts find against the companies, most likely the rest of the major countries will follow.

this is the experiance of our guild too .
i dont think they should do anything for anybody. you agreed to the TOS which probably didnt include you get something free in the event anything in these TOS happens. quit complaining and trying to get something for nothing. if you dont want to wait, dont play the game.
i agree . but its not really about the legal issues its about goodwill at the moment . If you build up goodwill in such an early stage by word of mouth your more likly to get more people playing through word of mouth . the loses you may get in the short term are outweighed by the long term gains .
Hope no ones ever stupid enough to put you in charge of anything . You ll run it into the ground with an attitude like that .
Love this sort of response,
I will translate for everyone else..
"I have not had a problem with this game yet so I will annoy you guys that have,I will even try to act more mature over it and make you feel worse and ignore there is a problem....in time when I have a problem the same as your's I will vent my fury and forget I even made this post"

The problem though is CEO's and upper management of these companies tend not to think in PR ways...most often, they regard PR departments as unnecessary. So hoping they'd do something out of "goodwill" is a lost cause, I fear.

As much as i dont like Blizzard it is something they did get right in the early days .WoW for those that remember its release had lots of problems but Blizzard did recognise this and did give away extra free time . Your right though CEOs dont always have common sence . Unfortunatly there is some real anger building up at Aion over the ques and people are going back to thier old mmos feeling ripped off by Ncsoft . I support Aion i think it should be the next big thing but its looking unlikly if they dont make some wise choices now .
