Kingston 512 RAM PC-3200
80 GB 7200rpm
Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS
MSI GeForceFX 5500 (256 MB)
How bad will i play EQ2?
Comments
I think it will be playable.
I had a similiar system in beta and the game worked ok on low low settings.
But it still looks ok.
You need more ram.
A gig is nearly mandatory for world of warcraft!

You will experience the memory leak but otherwise it is playable. Probably only on High performance, though.

on which performance option should I play?
i would upgrade your RAM, not just because of this game, but because it will be needed for other games also. right now its very cheap for a 512mb stick of RAM, like 63 bucks at newegg.com
EDIT: (your question) you will suffer from the memory leak which would be alleviated by upgrding your ram as i said, also your gfx card is a bit dated and you will have to run it on below avg settings (but it should still look good) other than that your pc looks fine.

And not to mention, you get a discount on ram if you purchased EQ2
Liked: Shadowbane, Neocron, Ultima Online(Before UO:R)
Not Sure about: DAoC
Disliked: AC1, Everquest 1, Everquest 2, World of Garbage(Warcraft), Eve Online, Jumpgate, AC2, Anarchy Online, Sims Online, Saga of Ryzom, Lineage II, City of Heroes, FFXI, Planetside, UO:R(and after)
more ram, I went from 1gb of ram to 2gb and it made a HUGE performance difference. I lost the memory leak issues somehow with the upgrade. Also zoning is VERY fast as opposted to painful if you only have 1gb of ram (atleast it was for me).

Actually for an average pc 512 is an upgrade!
You can always buy extra RAM. Sounds like hard core gamers have twice that...
what motherboard do you have, and ot answer your question, no, you can't but what motherboard do you have, if you don't now, then what brand is your computer? the ram might not be compatable with it
ouch. I will take a leap here and tell ya flat out not to expect much for upgrading considering its a prebuilt machine, and a packard bell at that.

I am not gonna give you any reasons to play the game. Its your computer, you chose it. It doesn't matter to me if you play or not. Your computer is capable of handling it, just on the lower setttings. If you want to play it you will. If not there are plenty of other games that your computer I am sure is capable of handling exceptionally.
You asked if your computer would handle it, everyone here gave you some fair suggestions.

Pre-built computers usually have about 5+ more processes running then computers that people build themselves. I can honestly tell you that if you have like 30 or more processes running, only 512 RAM and a FX5500 the game will lag badly. Especially areas like Qeynos Harbor and South Qeynos, they will make your system crawl.
I had an Xp 1800+ 512 RAm and a Geforce 5200 and the game ran like crap, even on extreme performance. Now with a AMD 64 3000+, 1 gig pc-3200 ram and a Geforce 6800 GT it ran like butter. But I dont play EQ2 anymore, it was like a chore for me to play that game after level 20. (Sorry i dont mean to bash EQ2, just too much of a grind for me)
you should mortgage your house, sell your car or whatever and go out and buy the alienware computer with dual 6800s for like $5k

Right on Bros. Glad to hear you got it solved. And by the way gamer, I have a sub $1,000 computer and Eq2 looks and runs great.
You can actually go quite far for $1000 building your own anymore, or getting a pre built from somewhere like tiger direct and then throwing a worth video card in it. Their best HP professional workstation is only $999, And its a serious machine.
