Its a Trap!

hayes303hayes303 Member UncommonPosts: 431

I believe this game is a trap designed to lure bitter SWG vets out of other games so they can be snared by a game just enough like that broken old junker to be intrigued, but different enough to keep them enraged and constantly demanding the devs alter the game. That way the community of other games can enjoy a blissful, change-the-world-to-fit-my-idea-of-fun-regardless-of-anyone-else's-opinion free experiance. Its so fiendish in its simplicity that its brilliant.

I think your post contradicts itself.. the "bitter SWG vets" were not the ones in SWG complaining that they wanted changes, they were the ones complaining about the fact that SOE kept changing the game.

  • hayes303hayes303 Member UncommonPosts: 431

My point was more to the demands they make for other games to change to be more inline with SWG. Sorry for the confusion

Have those demand been made for FE?

I'm so broke. I can't even pay attention.

myself, I have only seen 1 aspect of the game where something SWG style was asked for, or atleast the option of it was discussed, that was player housing. Mostly the discussion between having instanced housing (EQ2), static housing lots (Vanguard) or as SWG has, houses anywhere you please, aswell I am sure other options have been talked about.

Player housing? It's a post apocalyptic world where people are barely scraping by. What will these "houses" consist of? Slabs  of sheet metal help up with 2 by 4's?

Yea man, you can have your own hobo shack!!

Honestly, myself I would love to see housing, make the houses old rail cars, or battered old RV's on blocks, or small wooden shacks, things like that. they would fit into the world perfectly.

This is why I say Static Housing.

There is RV Parks that people are no longer in, but the RVs survived.

There would be little neighborhoods, and trailer parks.

The Shiva Virus didn't kill THINGS. Although they'd be rusted and beaten, you could still live in it, and it'd stand up. Not to mention, why wouldn't we use all of this steel to build new things? We have the forges and tools to mold it to sheets, or hammers and nails to make wooden houses. Not everything HAS to be all beaten and post-human race.

I tend to disagree.  A lot of bitter SWG vets were whinging pre-CU about changing this, that and the other (e.g. hologrinding and the like).  Apart from me of course.  I loved hologrinding.  I thought it was a genius idea to get people to play all sorts of careers (remember Image Designer or whatever it was caleld?)

Anyway - OT, the OP has a point I think.  Being only a few levels in it does sort of remind me a little bit of early SWG.  Are the "careers" as diverse as they were in SWG though?

Interesting point, really havent heard any pre cu swg demands, maybe the ones that came to FE and stayed liked it.

Only game mechanic complaint (non-technical and non-troll) has been for open pvp, that I've seen.

I mostly made this as a joke, but yeah, I have heard quite a bit of pre-cu requests (thats why I made the post, that and the fact this game reminds me a lot of early SWG in some ways), specifically changes to crafting and player housing. I am enjoying this game, all attempts at trolling aside :)

The point I was making is that its a deep engrossing game as this is addictive. Its a bit like fight club or 7, a thinking man's/woman's game.

I do understand if you want a Rambo entertainment experiance though, just in the MMO markets there are so many Rambo's and not enough games that demand your planning, thought and active engagement to further your toon.

  • FunkyLasagneFunkyLasagne Member Posts: 339

Nice analogy.  If those sorts of MMOs are Rambo, then I guess FE is The Equalizer?

  • majinantmajinant Member UncommonPosts: 418

You are saying "Rambo" like it's a bad thing...
