Yes it will Launch of PC and PS3. Might get a 360 one to but were not sure.

Oh man, as if there needed to be a better selling point other than it being a Final Fantasy title. Being a kid I remember wishing that I would never get finished with any of the titles, but sadly it came all too suddenly. With XI I was in heaven, but I didn't get to play from the start, hopefully with this one I will get to do just that.
as someone who doesnt give a toss about FF as a series. The selling point for me (this is based on my time in the last one) was the great community that actually worked together.
Selling point for this next one...graphics that don't hurt my eyes and the fact that i can play it on the PS3...my grinding fingers and back will finally get a break as i slouch down onto by bed and twirl my fingers around a comfortable controller...
MMO wish list:
-Changeable worlds -Solid non level based game -Sharks with lasers attached to their heads

I have played 95% of the FF titles, I couldnt care less what this games title is. What I care about is the people making it, Square Enix. They have proved that they know how to make a good MMO, with a great comunity. In a day where MMO's has de-evolved into casual, easy mode, garbage where anyone with 2 brain cells can advance with ease, SE is the last glimmer of hope for some of us to get a new great mmo.
Oh and the fact that there is no PvP as an important role, is a major selling point. Of course this is also a major turnoff depending which side you fall on. personally I am glad there is no PvP because of what it attracts to the game.

Have you even play FFXI, the unlimit character job change potential is actually make the game fun, here is an example:
Last week i have decide to finally finish up Chain of promethia. (and god, the story was so good i broke few tears)
I have 4 job leveled , RDM, BLM, DNC, and COR at 75 and a thf 54. WE went with 6 people but all suddenly, we hit a "critical point", Airship battle was too hard, at first i was the healer (RDM) but after countless attempts, we decide "hey, let's change setup." so i become BLM! and another melee turn RDM, and we success!
What does this say? this is saying instead of kicking one of the memeber to get a BLM, i was manage to stay with my party and won! because we can change JOBS/Class. Unlike any recent MMORPG, you are a priest, you stuck as a priest. Who need rogues?
and FFXI story is so amazing, i would put FFXI story above every other FF series.
It's just a rehash of the same old garbage with Final Fantasy slapped on as the title. Yet the masses will hype it to death, complain about it being boring once the honeymoon phase is over at release, and so the cycle will continue.
basicly what everyone else above says, great storytelling, great community and its FF.
also its nice to notice that the FFXI and FF14 boards tend to have the least amount of haters and trolls,(though u can see as the guy who posted in blue above me is one of the smaller crowd) it goes to show that people who like the FF MMO's are generly of the more mature and nicer audience.

Is it F2P or something? I herd it could be played on a PS3 or something like that. Is that true? Whats the Selling Points, the Hype of this game?
IMO the selling point will be what too many asked for and will ruin the game. That point is soloability and it will play more like a single player console version than a PC MMO.I had hoped for a massive increase in everything above and beyond FFXI,but instead they are streamlining the entire game and catering to the solo players who do not want an actual mmo.
The only thing they have not dumb down is races they will remain the same, again i am sure we had hoped for more.I also get the feeling there will be no more customization than what FFXI had, they are pushing for the simplest ,quickest way to get a game out.Watching their last few expansions and selling us better security,i really got the feeling Square is becoming cheaper and more money hungry.
WOTG expansion was ok,but even that was released unfinished, that is not like Square ,so again they are becoming more risky in relying on the fanbase to buy/play and accept anything.TOAU was a good expansion, that was the LAST one that showed effort and worthy of paying for,i don't know what became of Square since then, maybe it was the bad economy IDK,but they definitely changed .
I backed up a lot of excuses rightfully so for Square because FFXI was limited by it's console design, but this time around i expect a PC design.I do not for a second believe they will up the bandwidth needed much, they will save money doing so.The graphics will look smoother, but they will not be better, the texture use I am positive will not be anything hi res.I did notice,at least from videos they are going to finally use shaders, not that they couldn't use shader 1.0 on ffxi, they chose not to.
Most people agree the carrot on a stick for much every game is the NEXT level or that NEXT piece of gear or that NEXT content,FFXIV seems to be relying on that NEXT weapon skillup for this game,a pretty weak and risky approach IMO.Also removing what little realism a game world has by removing quests from npc's to an object click is VERY weak again, geesh i really don't know what happened, did this guy running the show have a stroke or something.I had hoped for MORE realism in the world ,with more NPC's moving around and interacting with us,but man this cheaper approach is just bad.
IMO this game will look like playing FFX on the console, the same type of graphics and will play more like FFX-2.
The big selling point that Square announced was the game was going to revolutionize how we play, this was done by removing levels. The weapon part is actually only superficially different ,because we already had a limitation to your class and weapon in FFXI,it was actually done well in FFXI,this game will cheapen itself with anyone can use anything approach.I already mentioned this type of approach means we are all morphing/clones and not really a definitive class role.
Many ,especially those that wanted a solo type game will see many improvements,i have yet to see any beyond the smoother graphics,so far at least i am very disappointed.I hope to be surprised when it comes out,i hope that the many mistakes they are making will be washed away by an amazing game, they still have the most creative minds in gaming, 500x above and beyond Blizzard and their 5 million instances ,so there is hope.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

It wont be a solo game.
It wills till be group based with a touch of solo.
Just like they did for PvP in FFXI. You can have it, and it not be dominate.
So far the only thing they said you can solo is guildleaves. And there most likely will be a restriction on how many you can do, or a time delay before doing another.
The selling point is it's good reputation of FFXI being a solid mmo. I certainly can't wait to try the game and I'm even considering coming back to FFXI.

I have played about 20 different MMO titles, I have their boxes hanging on the walls like animal head trophies... and I can tell you the one and ONLY one of those MMOs that made me feel a part of something great was FFXI so if FFXI is ANY indication of how FFXIV will play I, and I am guessing everyone one else who had the fortune of really playing FFXI, will tell you the same thing: We can not wait to play this game.
I do feel sorry for anyone who writes this game off because they read some angry, clueless post by someone somewhere, because they are truly going to miss out on a great online community, friends, and experience.

This game has alot of ground breaking changes compared to the first, i dont know what dumb fucks are doing saying the game has no changes( i dont know why a person bothers to comment on a games thread that they neither like or know anything about its as if they have no life.... oh yeah they dont i keep forgetting my hobbys reqular crowd is a bunch of fat nerds-god bless em) but anyway the game has a whole new skill system similar to oblivion, darkfall, ultima online etc. WHICH is sweet the skill leveling system is the funnest and on a major title like this it will be mind numbingliy fun, Second BETTER GRAPHICS!!!! i didnt play much of the old ffxi only got to level 20 the reason i quit was because of how old the game was, The new ffxi world is quite beautiful, its the same cool art style but in great resolution with huge open landscapes to create a realistic seemless fantasy world, NEXT they put in a very easy class change system, if your group needs a wizard you can change from your lancer or gladiator to a magic class or you can do a mixture of sword and magic. And if your more of a lover than a hater and want a peacefull mmo, say hella no to the fighting and be a crafter, the crafting is extensive and developers say crafting can literally be your whole ffxiv experience, its been rumored that there will be a crop growing craft similar to Harvest moon or farmville WHICH Would quite easily rock any natsume fans socks off and right up their butthole....yeah , Fishing hunting, and all these other crafts are reported as in game and fully functional in dev talks, THIS makes everyones gameplay rich and diverse. PLAYER housing and GUILD halls are in game and similar to FFXI housing but on ign. i read this and i like it alot- players in the same guild can have their houses all and their guild hall all in one instance and you aparently can decorate the outside with trees and flowers- a lil bit of animal crossing in your mmo game, EVERY HOUSE HAS A YARD IN FFXIV which is cool and in the yard is where you can grow fruits and such. ----------------------SOOOO HERES THE CONCLUSION FFXIV IS A SHIT TON OF NEW AND GOOD IDEAS IN A OLD LOVABLE WORLD THAT WILL BE SEAMLESS, WITH GOOD GRAPHICS, AND WILL LIKE FFXI SEEM LIKE A LIVING BREATHING WORLD FULL OF LIFE AND DIVERSITY WITH HUNDREDS OF THINGS TO DO AND BE, ITS GONNA BE A GAME WHERE THE PLAYERS WILL TRULY RUN THE WORLD FOR THE FIRST TIME IN A MMO, WELL BE THE CUTE LITTLE NPCS FISHING OR BEING A FULL TIME ARMORSMITH OR ALCHEMIST , OOOOOOH I CANT WAIT I JUST CANT FUCKING WAIT SOOOO IM GONNA SHOOT MYSELF ...NO JOKE , PEACE
Turn based combat is archaic and outdated. You have to be crazy to be upset that SE finally dropped the feature that held the FF series down from making it to the next generation of gaming.
Using LOL is like saying "my argument sucks but I still want to disagree".

Turn based combat allows a lot more strategy than the traditional hack & slash currently in FFXI. You obviously prefer the fact that less (and faster) thinking is required during combat.
Squaresoft certainly knew how to make good games, while Square Enix knows how to cater the majority of people.

There is no hack & slash in FFXI...... And even a bigger surprise, the combat is turn based in FFXI too. What you mean to say is that FFXI is real-time turn based game. You don't spam the attack button like in Diablo or something, even WoW is many times faster than XI's combat.
I don't know how you could even think that the fact that the combat is real time makes it need less thinking and strategy than the non-realtime Fantasies. The difference is that you're not given time to ponder your next move for ages before the monster attacks again, making the game more challenging more than anything. It doesn't mean that you have to think 'less' by default, only that you need to think just as much as before but faster. Too bad if this is too much for you.

This is exactly right.
And didn't they state they are considering a system that is similar to FFXI but without auto attacks? That is as close as you are going to get to turn based in a mainstream MMO. If anything, Mesa should be praising this game for not copying all of the button mashing MMOs out there such as WoW.
It just goes to show Mesa likes to flame a game without knowing anything about it.

Yeah one big selling point to anyone that hasn't played their last MMO (FFXI) is that it is a Final Fantasy title, It is P2P as well.
Selling point: PvE community.
Yes, i know, an MMO with people who play together. Shocking.

Plus I'm a big fan of Final Fantasy "lore" in general.

I dont feel sorry for them because those same people are the ones that ruin the community. I say good ridance, let them go play one of the new ones on the hype list.
Waiting for:EQ-Next, ArcheAge (not so much anymore)
Now Playing: N/A
Worst MMO: FFXIV
Favorite MMO: FFXI

Good, hopefully he won't play it.
