BioWare really, really 'gets' Star Wars.  Coruscant looks amazing, and perfect.  I think back to SWG and  its interpretation of Corellia, another planet with huge cities in the Star Wars Canon. What a joke. No comparison. Not even in the same league, or universe for that matter.

    Thank you BioWare!

p.s. now if only another franchise MMO (ahem, STO) understood its source material as well...

That video did spark my interest a bit more in the game. I was interested before, becuase I know Bioware is a good dev, but now I can really see the kind of effort and thought they are putting into this game. I hope they keep it up and this might be the first mmo that I preorder.

You can tell they are crafting this world with a lot of care, and attention to detail. I feel the same way Cerion does, it looks just like I would expect it to look in a game.

Not sure what the excitement is about, it looked like a pretty standard cartoon "futuristic" world to me and I am not sure showing huge sections of it being built via a standard "cut and paste" model has done anything to my anticipation either.

Just about every game on the market has huge and impressive looking cities there is nothing special in being able to do that what will separate this from many other games out there is the level of interactivity you have within that city ie how much of it is usable in some form or another.

My guess is that 95% of the city will be little more than shapes on the horizon just like every other game on the market.

It's a whole planet, that's a city. So it will be the size of a typical planet in SWTOR but all city, which based on the abilities of the hero engine could be huge. They can do unlimited height maps, seamless zone loads, so it is possible to make it look like you see in the movies. Will it be endless? no, will it be big? yes. Can you go in every building? no one knows, but why would you need to?  It's kinda hard to explore a facade, keep that in mind.

I still don't see the excitement, instead of it being a forest planet or pastoral planet it will be a city planet, I recall SWG where you saw craft flying around and shuttles at the shuttle bays and starports but the excitement subsided pretty quick when it became obvious they were just space filler graphics and you couldn't interact with them in any way.

It's a game, not real life, so not everything will serve a purpose beyond its aesthetic value, kinda like the clouds, sun ect most games, there's just no reason to interact with it. Also it will help immensely with your expectations if you don't compare this game to SWG in any way.

The WOW!! factor of any game is in its depth and diversity not in its fluff and that was what made games like UO and SWG good games, I get somewhat tired of hearing about innovation and the "next step in MMO's" when 100% the games released in the last 3-5 years have been little more than cookie cutter WoW clones that fail within months due to bad releases and over hyped content.

I really hope that SW:TOR turns out to be all that SWG could/should have been but I am not going to wet myself over a city skyline that has no bearing on the content of the game itself.

That's cool for you, others think Coruscant looks cool, not sure why you have a problem with that. If it's depth, story and diversity you are after, I remember a few times them mentioning this, though the exact details of which you will need to wait for. This game is different, yet familiar is the sense you should be getting. Also some advice, don't expect to know everything you think you should know before this game launches. They are gonna stay tight lipped till the day players begin to enter it to set up their lives in it. All will be reveled, not now, but soon.

I found myself getting extremely angry at all of the hype, even when watching the video.  Then I realized that I was really angry that I wasn't playing this *right now*.  They have done a breathtaking job from what I have seen, and if it is half as good as KOTOR and KOTOR2, it will be amazing.

I hate to mention the MMO that we dare not speak it's name, but if I was the maker of that MMO with as much as they have messed up this year, I'd be extremely nervous about SW:TOR hitting the shelves.  Not just in the people they have already lost, or the people they may lose, but in the new players that won't touch it when there is a game like this to choose instead.

It can't get here soon enough for me.

Yeah but to a large degree it would be like SOE throwing up a picture of a tree in EQ2 and waiting for the fanbois to hype it into something beyond what it is.

I am not interested in the game world I already hate the graphics but in the end whether I choose to play it or not will have nothing to do with how big the cities are or what colour armour I can wear but in the game mechanics themselves and to date I have seen very little of the substance of the game which in the end is all that matters.

I am sorry I can't get excited at voice overs and skylines, as I have said I hope the game works out I would love to play a game worthy of my monthly fee so I will just wait and see how it goes.

You have a weird way of looking at this. The video demonstrated more then scenery, it showed exactly how much effort they are putting into the game in order to deliver us a Star Wars MMO. Not being interested in the game world is a bit strange don't you think? I know when I go into certain areas I want to see amazing things, experience amazing things, and immersion plays a big part for me.

People are not "hyping" the game over something like this, it adds a little excitement for them, many are just happy to see Coruscant the way they would have imagined it to be. And to many size to roam (cities or not) will make people a lot happier. Don't apologize for not getting excited, you answered your own reasons for not doing so "I am not interested in the game world I already hate the graphics", odds are you probably won't play the game if the quote is 100% accurate, I'm not the type of person to punish myself by playing games I have no interest in or are not visually appealing, maybe you are.

With that said, people will get excited over things like this. Why that bothers you, I don't get.

A game is really only as good as the sum of its parts though.

You'll never please all of the people all of the time... if you can please 80% of the people about 80-85% of the time, then all is well.

Some people may not care about art work, visuals, city layouts, character customization, armor appearances, or how the game was written and how it works with current hardware/technology.  Personally, I do. I'm glad development cycles are being spent in this area.  I also, however, hope that it's not taking away from playable content, lore, loot, character development, PVP/PVE, etc.,..
