AC Should be F2P!!!!!

With the Antivirus/Vista bug, the CC requirement for free trail and the lack of much support, not mention a low player base, they could prob. make more money selling custom designed house items and ad space.

But the AC Team has always been shittty at advertising and attracting new players....

I loved AC...popped my mmo cherry.  To this day, nothing compares to the feeling I had when AC first came out.  On the same hand, nothing compares to the feeling I had when I realized that it had turned from an MMO to an Massively Multimacro'd Online game.  IMO that was even bigger mistake than not having enough advertising.

Vista issue was solved when microsoft released SP2, so update your Vista. Also so far all of the people who have tried it on 7 say it works on install without having to try and do tricky things.

Almost all games require you to put in the CC for the free trial.

People tend to have a habit of remembering a game and thinking it would be fun to play again, but then being too cheap to pay for it and stating that it should become f2p. It happens with every game, even fairly new games. The truth is some games have a model that fits f2p, like DDO, others do not. AC in it's current form wouldn't really fit a f2p in my opinion, which would mean rebuilding the game. At that point they would probably just rebuild it into another sub based game that is a more modern AC.

maybe your right? but I am currently playing ac lol.

But I do feel that they should at the very least remove the CC crap from the free trial.

At this point in the game's life, they should certainly remove it.  But at the time, they had to do it that way because of the ridiculous amount of accounts people created in order to make rank chains.  Many of those chains are probably still around all these years later.  Hell, I had one under me in order to buy a mansion at one point.  It was an unintended use of game mechanics and such a large number of accounts were created that they were forced to put a CC requirement on it.

I do miss this game like all the others that started out in 1999 as thier first MMO experience.

I think they should give it for free for a subscription to LOTRO or DDO.  This is assuming Turbine still runs things, I don't know any more.

The macro'ers really did set too high of a lvl cap for most of us to keep up.

FOR ME, mind you I said FOR ME, keeping all those damn mods all updated became too much work.  Just playing the game became like work.  Combine that with the really low server pops and mass macroning, every where I could find people they weren't even there.

There was a time, long long ago, when the season changes in Dereth and people lived in the town.  The game really felt alive and the guild system functioned (even without a good chat system.

I think the game almost needs a flush and to start fresh with some updating.

Some form of dungeon based PVP CTF or some such mechanics would be cool.

Can't combine the servers to solve low pop issues without pissing off active customers.  Can't bring back old or new people with those low server pops.  Loose/Loose.

There will always be a special place in the hearts of those that played this game, it was special in a way a lot of more popular games never could be.  If they could ever find a way of tapping that feeling and bringing people back on a populated server with better functionality (make if brainless to get installed and working) and some fresh new things they could have something.
