PvP

I was wondering how PvP works in EQ2. Is is alignment based? I am playing a free account at the moment but am going to purchace the full game soon.  Does anyone have any advice for someone making a character on a PvP server?

It has been a while since I PvPd in EQ2 but if I remember correctly, it is faction based.

TTH had  a decent write up that might help you out if you plan on trying it.

3 Factions, Qs, Freeps, and Exiles. Just having 2 factions does not work well, 3 is where it is at.

As mentioned before, theres 3 factions. Good (beautiful Quenyos), Evil (I like their races the most), and the last faction is Exile, which means you betrayed your faction and became an Exile to your home city/faction.

Good fights Evil, Evil fights Good, and Exile fights everyone (even themselves as they are an open pvp faction).

I havent played this game for too long, but heres some tips I use:

-Bank your money and items, you lose them if you die in pvp. So when you head out where there might be opposing factions, bank it or lose it.

-Open world pvp in eq 2 is crazy. People spam the chat looking for pvp groups, and battles break out in seconds. If you see an exile, chances are he became exile to be allowed to open pvp with everyone, so expect a fight. Open world pvp is fun in eq 2, but it gets annoying. You can have a career open world pvping here, since you can gain items, money, and xp in pvp, so it will get hectic fast.

-Darklight woods is a warzone. Theres people at war at every time of the day, you are constantly hunted in this game, but DLW is 100 x that.

-Craft, craft, craft, this game actually has a use for crafting. Craft your gear to MC, and combat arts to adept, if you dont your abilities will be resisted and your gear will just be parried, dont expect to just level and it make you grow stronger, because it wont.

Theres more to it, but I'm sure you are already been forced to know by now.

    Dont bother- its a clusterfuck.

If you do, avoid VOX like the plauge (or any excange server) I think Naggy? was the most popular when I left.

EQ2 is probably the best PVE game out- But the PVP is horrid... Really, really bad. Plus its $OE.

exile is the best faction you can roll for pvp

why?both side gets to pawn you be it evil or good .ton of fun

might want to wait later in level tho because i dont think you can level from lvl 10 to max being exiled

and be carefull lot of port from exiled city arrive in fairly high level

lot of max level are exiled

thisd game is one of the best for rp,pvp is very punishing but great too ,if you die you loose more then just gold or item

you can and will loose a lot more ,

i heard lot of player frustrated by this but in my view this is what make pvp in this game addictive

you pvp in any way there are always concequance  to your action

this game is success contrary to some belief

    why?

    husban and wife+friend crowd here

    ton and ton of rper

same for pvp lot of player on pvp server

most left other server for those 2 server

but if you dont like the gothic look you might not like this game

imagine plate armor look like they have been hammered into shape not molded

wich is cool it literally look very realistic

Yeah I agree with the above poster, it looks very gothic, very D&D medieval-ish. I took a lot of screen shots when I made my first MC armor, it looked like something straight from the Medieval Musuem. Also, the cities mimic human history, from the castle with high walls of europe, to the sands and temples of Arabia. It feels like an adventure to me, like if I stepped into a fantasy world of europe and not some comic book cartoon world.

So far, this is the best PVP I have ever played. The abundance of open world pvp is there, last night I was fighting in a swamps with an exile, and I couldnt find him through the dark fog, and it was pretty creepy, rats and lizards were running around and Im trying to chase this exile, it was the strangest place to fight in, but a battle grew from there. Some hate the pvp due to the zerg fests, and a lot cry about class imbalances ( I am not at high enough levels to comment on this, but many games suffer from this anyway, and if you read the eq2 forums youd believe every class is nerfed, which means they either dont know what they are talking about, or the game is actually balanced).

I only ever had one character on a PvP server, and it lasted up to level 10 (at which level you become PvP-enabled).  The very moment I dinged lvl 10, I was backstabbed, stunned, killed and looted.  I'm pretty sure this was done by a member of my own faction, because I was right outside the gates of Freeport and the guards didn't attack the guys that ganked me.
