i dunno...sounds like a horrible idea. it would be like the sims...only a lot less to do, and no violent killing of monsters. whatever floats your boat though, eh?

1. In AC2. Players can play music, form bands. (Check out the AC2 links in my sig for screenshots of my AC2 band.) Only problem in AC2 is that music does.... nothing. One cannot level up doing it. One does not gain anything from playing music - except make intresting screenshots. Music is one of the blatant failed "promises" in AC2.
2. In SWG. SWG right now (as far as I know) has the best ever player music, player band, game feature. It still needs more tweaking, but it IS one of the many revolutionary things that makes SWG so unique. Any character can learn music skills. There is even a specific musician profession. Players can form bands. Travelling to different planets. Music IS a necessity in SWG. It actually serves a use. SWG has just about ALL the features you talk about in your link.

Do you have any idea how awful that would be?? See, there's no correlation to someone's musical talents and.. well.. gaming... so you're going to wind up with songs that are, well, just plain awful. I guarantee someone sues in the first couple months for seizures caused by someone's song/voice..
Nice idea but can't see it attracting many players, everyone would be doing the same thing unless something else was added it would become very dull after a while.
Maybe better for an offline single player game with maybe mp options to compete online with other users dosent really sound like an RPG thou dose it.
In a competitive world we all live in, such a MMORPG could not work out without more content. Maybe not just basing the entire game only rockstars, but adding more to the entertainment business.
If you let everyone think the game revolves around rockstars, everyone will become one, everyone will wanna be the best and think they are the best. There will be barely any real-player spectators, so everyone will just be doing music, people will just form "guilds" of some sort, listen to each other in small groups, and it would defy the whole purpose to a MMORPG.
Think about it.
You have 5 guys that make a band. They do great, have capped on their rock skills and are ready to rock. On the server, they won't be the only ones to have formed a band, everyone will have a band. You'll ask the other band to come to your show, they won't bother cause they have their own show to take care of, in which they won't have anyone else to invite cause everyone else is busy grinding their own rock skills.
What I suggest is to have more! Like create a Fantasy Entertainment World, where people can chose to either start a rock band, or start an advertisement company to hire rock bands, pop-groups, TV shows, etc. Then you have all kinds of other things. Like you can decide to open a TV Company. Buy cameras, learn how to make movies, then if you have friends that decided to take the Rockstar Profession Tree, you can hire them to play on your TV show, and if they are good, players in the MMORPG will watch the show, which will give money to the TV Producer and give in a good word for the band, in which the band can then start doing concerts, and whoever saw'em on TV will wanna see their concert.
See what I mean? MMORPGs should be about variety, not just 1 style of gameplay or else no one will play it. And if people do play it without much variety, they will get bored quick. They will find out that everyone is aiming for the same thing, it will never end... and that's why games like Motor City Online failed. It was just racing, people didn't see why they should pay a month fee for a game when you can do the same with non-monthly fee racing games.
These "reality" mmogs are just as annoying and pointless as the TV series. There are golf and baseball, now rockstar. I can't imagine how this would be any fun at all, especially if it requires massive micromanagment.

Damn...When I saw "A new idea for a MMORPG - Rockstar MMORPG"
I was thinking the rockstar game company and a GTA mmorpg...damn.
Death is not to fear; for it is not the end, but rather the beginning on the road to eternity.
"Fear not death; for the sooner we die, the longer shall we be immortal."
