I would take EQ2, WoW or Lotro over these horrid games anyday.
If I have to compare two pieces of shit I would take WAR i guess for the tier 1 and 2 pvp.
I would never suggest these games to anyone, I'm just not that mean.
So basically you say WOW (since EQ2 was voted away by its players at launch - within the same fourteen days as WOW btw) and Lotro is the little sister game of WOW without the added PvP options.
I like to ))) at this thread .
It REALLY is the battle of the ex- WOW killers isn't it.
Only instead of discussing the 2 million players against the 1.5 million players.
After one year it is about two games laying on intensive care with each having 60K to 80K players.
One thing is sure ... the server room of both games is very small.
So make up your own conclusions. But don't come crying when they shut down the lights in 2010 (ST, SW, CATA, D3, ...).
Listen to Zorndorf, he's telling to go play Wow. Just like 3004 of his other post is trying to do.
Not as different as other 5 stars posters who happen to cite EVE or GW in every post they make (signature and all...
At least I am on topic, because the OP was talking about ex XXX killers remember.
I just pointed out it was a risk to play both games in view of the "new" XXX killers that will come out.
See? I already censored my posts.
But seriously with SC,SW, CATA and D3, I don't see much future in both.
I had no problem with WOW. I played it over three years and loved it. As all games go, it began to become old and a chore and I moved on last year. Still there was a lot of fun for me especially in the vanilla days. I have not found a suitable replacement yet, though I am playing DDO currently and having good fun with it.
AoC for me, it has under gone so many changes since release including a complete re-design of the RPG system. And is growing with more content all the time and an up coming expansion. Nice take on classes and i like the comabt system.
Graphics are top notch and run so smooth in Aoc. Compare that to WAR where the fps is linked to you connection speed=poor performance when in congested pvp areas.
I want to like WAR but u need to be on a populated server etc, and hopefully they can do something about the lag sooner rather then later.
Another point to note, by looking at the posts on these forums, is that WAR seems to be going down in popularity with alot of negative posts, whereas AoC seems to be growing in popularity, make of that what you like................
I made it to level 56 in AoC before canceling. I only made it to level 14 in Warhammer before canceling. AoC was a decent game, but Warhammer was probably the most boring MMO I have ever played.....and I've played a lot of them.
I have played both games, I definitely prefer AoC with the better graphics and multiple avenues to enjoy the game. In AoC, I enjoy both the PvE and the PvP, while in War you really need a solid population on server for RvR.
There is no compelling reason why I would chose it over warhammer other than I know warhammer will not turn into something I will enjoy. Even though I want it to.

When I want to play a pure fantasy game complete with elves, dwarves and fairy's I'll play WoW. Best fantasy of that type out there.
When I get fed up with the aforementioned fairy tale stuff, I'll go for AoC. Darker, more inovative and getting better all the time. It, like WAR may have crashed and burned on release but as time goes on its getting very solid and just plain fun. Besides, there is just something appealing about jumping into a horde of enemies and chopping away hero like until you are the only one left standing.
AoC. Better graphics, better world, better concept, better dev team.
Played both for quite some time and I'd have to go AoC all the way. Love AoC's art and setting and the soundtrack imo is hands down the best in an MMO. Had a lot of fun in Doorhammer for a month or so but after spending countless hours pounding on keep doors on underpopulated servers and being blasted by OP'd AOE I shelved the game. With WAR it just seemed like a mad race to get to tier 4 RVR because at least there you knew there would be things going on. In my experience tiers 2 and 3 were always empty except for maybe a few hours each day.
I would go for AOC basicly cause WAR didn`t fixed some issues since beta (server stability .lag ........stucking into absolutly anything) I like the game, lore all but no t4 content expt running for some rnvn one zone after another 2-3 dungeons which are bugged beyind beleief and list goes on and on......
AOC (playing it right now ):Funcom wrealy and I didn`t mean that I will say that in my life has improved game alot since it release game is more optimized than before small or no lag at all world it self is wrealy nice much solo content and grouping quests/instancing down of AOC for me is that you don`t have sides there are no we are good and they are bad but I`ve spoke to the people and they say that is the way it should be so have either way I like both games will keep my eye on WAR but Aoc is just more apealing for me right now.
Comments
I played both, both were good, but i think AoC was my choice simply because WAR was a bit too repetitive for me.
Choice: Age of Conan.
Reason: Boobies.

Warhammer by milesssssssssssssssssssssssssssss.
This isn't even a choice.
Warhammer 1-21ish was one of the best games I played, and the most fun for those levels.
After that the game was terrible.
If you already play World of Warcraft you should really go AoC. Why; AoC is something different and dont need 1000hours of investment.
For me WoW is to like Warhammer that I could play them both.
AoC for me, it has under gone so many changes since release including a complete re-design of the RPG system. And is growing with more content all the time and an up coming expansion. Nice take on classes and i like the comabt system.

Warhammer Online
MMO Vet since AOL Neverwinter Nights circa 1992. My MMO beat up your MMO. =S
If I had to choose I would just quit MMOrpgs all together lol
I prefer playing Call of Duty on the same freaking map for the rest of my life then playing one these games.
Having played both quite extensively I would have to say Warhammer Online.
Reason: WAR actually does work.
AoC = 80 Assassin, 80 HoX
WAR = 40/58 WH, 40/49 BW, 40/48 Sorc
I have played both.
I made it to level 56 in AoC before canceling. I only made it to level 14 in Warhammer before canceling. AoC was a decent game, but Warhammer was probably the most boring MMO I have ever played.....and I've played a lot of them.
My vote goes to AoC.
Currently Playing: DAOC Uthgard
Previously Played: UO, DAOC, Shadowbane, AC2, SWG, Horizons, COX, WOW, EQ2, LOTRO, AOC, WAR, Vanguard, Rift, SWTOR, ESO, GW2.
I have played both games, I definitely prefer AoC with the better graphics and multiple avenues to enjoy the game. In AoC, I enjoy both the PvE and the PvP, while in War you really need a solid population on server for RvR.
Vanguard....oh wait, that was not on the list, was it?
Vanguard anyway.. :-)

I think that AoC > WAR for PVE, crafting, guilds, graphics
WAR > AoC for PvP
Torrential: DAOC (Pendragon)
Awned: World of Warcraft (Lothar)
Torren: Warhammer Online (Praag)
I HAD to chose, I would chose age of conan.
There is no compelling reason why I would chose it over warhammer other than I know warhammer will not turn into something I will enjoy. Even though I want it to.
AOC simply because the Warhammer engine is so bad.
If I had to choose, I would most like pick AoC. I have played both games (didn't like either tbh), but I seemed to enjoy AoC more.
I prefer AOC . I took a break for a bit but will definitely go back to try out next group of changes at least.
Warhammer would be my choice.
Momo sucks, I have proof.
Hard to say, only played AOC for first 2 months or so after launch and WAR about a month or two as well.
Both games have changed significantly since then, so I'd be hard pressed to pick one over another without giving each another go.

Age of Conan for me.
WAR's concept of an RvR themepark was interesting and even slightly brave .. but completely failed to engage me.
Playing: EVE, Final Fantasy 13, Uncharted 2, Need for Speed: Shift
This one is easy. AoC
When I want to play a pure fantasy game complete with elves, dwarves and fairy's I'll play WoW. Best fantasy of that type out there.

I'd choose Age of Conan, without a doubt.
