Which MMORPG has it all?

Which MMORPG, in your opinion, has everything that you want in a game. Which game do you keep coming back to or never leave because it is the most fun and fulfills your online gaming need. Also, what is the ALL you desire in a game, what do you want in a game to feel it is complete.

Did you think really hard before asking this question? ::::06::

I gave it some thought, yes. Which apparently you did not.

Is that possible?I mean my vision of a perfect mmorpg can only be realised if i made it myself with no advise or changes from my vision.

Only then would it be perfect for ME and most likely me alone.

Also the technology to even make a perfect game for me is not yet made.

I am not talking about the perfect game for any one person. I am talking about what you like the most in the games you play and what would you like to see in future games that would make you play them. I apologize if the post was to vague. For example I like games where you can ride horses and sail ships like in UO. I would like to see a game that has a wide range of different modes of transportation in it.

::::06:: Maybe a little more thought next time. I like CoH, yet there are some who think that it could be more, which i agree. I like SoR, but some argue that there is a STEEP learning curve in SoR. Which i disagree. I wasn't trying to be argumentative when i asked, I just wanted to state my OPINION.

Not a problem. I agree if CoH had more it could be one of the best games out there. But as it stands now it is just beat up the bad guys for exp. I would like to see living your life as your non-superhero self and then having to change to fight crime. Character developement is half the game so the more you can do with your character the better. Is there a classless leveless MMORPG out there where you can develope your character in a more free style?

    1. relatively large and detailed environment

    2. zoneless environment

    3. individual player quests developed and executed by the GMs (HJ)

    4. fair range of races

    5. class system which is also customizable (ie. have at least one static adventurer class)

    6. in-depth spell and combat system

    7. original and traditional ideas

    8. comprehensive and involving storyline

    9. good transitional background music

    10. various paths to EXP & "lvling"

    11. well done & customizable guild system (Horizons)

    12. PvP, PvE, GvG/KvK (guild vs guild/kingdom vs kingdom)

    13. player toggle camera you can switch on/off to allow people to view the world through the eyes of your character (if they're bored or curious)

    14. in-depth merchant & crafting system

    15. allowance to not only build/buy houses & mansions but also shops, taverns, etc...

*I may think of some other things but... that's what I'd like in my games at the moment.

None of them have it all.

  • _myko_myko Member Posts: 333

a lot of them have it some of the time, none of them have it all of the time...

currently training 'hoping for more sci-fi mmorpgs' to level 5

    ---sig---

PvE in general is pretty lame, if you think long and hard about it. You are spending your time beating a severely gimped AI that would lose to a well trained monkey. Best not to think too long and hard why you are wasting time playing games in general actually...

Yes. It does. And you can do it without sacrificing your whole character to it. It is zonelass actually.

Important things for me is content. If there is a mystereous story line that unfolds in front of yours and other's eyes, then that game is all I need.

Towards the end of my time playing Asheron's Call Gaerlen started attacking and Asheron was showing up, and it was great.

Also, I need massive possibilities, I swear if they made the Elder Scrolls III an MMORPG it would be an amazing game, you can do literally anything in that game.

I also need massive conflicts (factions, guilds, kingdoms) whichever, there needs to be a real enemy.

So far I'm going to have to go with WoW it has more practicle and amazingly creative things in it than any other MMO I have played; so there you go.

In my opinion if I made a game myself with no advise or changes from my vision. I would enjoy it as a start but in the end I would feel like the game is lacking.... If I made a game myself that would me I would know alll there is to know about the game and tailor the game to my wants and needs... I would know where to hunt, i would know what to hunt, I would know how to make good money, and i would know how and where to get the best armor and weapons for my current situation... In the end anyone else who is playing the game at the time would think the game is grossly unbalanced in favor of MY favorite character type or class... and If no one else likes the game, I in turn would start to dislike the game.....

For if my game holds no value to anyone else except for me... well that means that the game holds no value at all... For worth has to be independant of my opinion.

Thats why i think in order to have a perfect game... I would supply all my ideas to a team and let them develope the game... according to the general ideas of the game and not "tyranize" (I know its not a word) the game.

::::27:: Which other games have you played? Because If all you have to go from is WoW and AC, you are lacking in a real opinion. I understand that Blizzard did a good job, they watched and lisrtened to all the complaining that ppl did about the current MMoRPGs out there then made their own. I'll bet you that when WoW is out for 6+ months, ther'll be ppl who are bored to death and complaining about it as well. Ther'll never be a truly perfect game out there, if there was... we'd all be in trouble. I think that the variety that is out here now is good for all types, you just need to find your niche. Awesome question Ded.

And before you try to get snappy, i played UO waaaay back in da day, AO, EQ, SoR, EVE, WoW, and i am currently playing CoH and am looking foreward to what's coming down the pipe.

Well once I thought Shadowbane could have it all.. but it didn't really live up to its potential.. though their might be some hope yet.

And so.. if anyone asks me which one has it all .. I think i'd go with dark&light ( if they only implement half of what they want to )

I would have to say Star Wars Galaxies.

Even if after 1 year I still can't find anything to do with the combat aspect of the game (Cause it really really lacks content), it's still the only MMORPG I can come back to and roleplay with some people.

It's the only MMORPG with a character customization you can change at will by visiting a Tailor or Image Designer (Unless you are one yourself, or both).  You can always go to the Theed Cantina and socialize with the Dancers and Musicians... only Theed though, Coronet is filled with Macro-AFKers.

You have hundreds of emotes, 1/3 of them are animated so it really adds to the roleplaying.

Also since SOE didn't add the Combat Balance, I can just take my Master Rifleman, Master Fencer, Master TKA and go around PVPing and winning 1/5 times unless I encounter a Master TK, Master Fencer, Master Swordsman, then I get OWNed.  So I kill 2-4 non-temploiters, then get owned by a temploiter, then I stop for the night.

But for roleplaying and social gameplay, SWG is my favorite.

I just wish there was more to the game.  All veteran players I used to have on my friendlist have quit SWG long ago or they are Jedi and tend to only hang around other Jedi.

But like I said before, I don't grind anymore professions, I just roleplay.

Well thats what I hope for in D&L.. Content .. a good fighting system and balance.. and *sigh* hopefully lots of roleplayers ::::19::
