1) Some of you give yourselves way too much credit. That inane "Failcom" campaign did exactly f#*k all to anyone or anything outside this "community". No one outside mmorgpg.com (and most people in it) cared about it when it started and noone cares about it now. Get over yourselves...
2) AO had a rough start, granted, but that was 8 years ago now... the game recovered fine, and is highly regarded by many to this day. The fact that the core game is free to play does not in any way reflect the quality of the game at all.
3) FunCom isn't a bad company, get over it already... If you want to demonize a gaming company try someone like SOE or EA, you know, ones that truly deserves it.

And yes, boycotting a company over a game is a bit much. And thinking that it had any effect on the company is pure delusion .
All I have to say is I actually enjoyed AO and played it for several years. But I have to confess that I was a part of the beta testers, and seeing what happened during that phase I chose to wait a whole year before actually paying for the game.
I am very excited about The Secret World. More excited than anything else I have seen in years (except maybe for Fallen Earth). But Funcom being Funcom I think I'll contain my excitement and wait till the game has been around for a year or so.
This is not a boycott, it's looking both ways before you cross the street.
Boycotts and online petitions - its like the almost silent herding of discontented expectations screaming from a few bedrooms into an endless ether of ambivilance - waste of time.

Me, like others, feel robbed by Age of Conan. Lied repeteadly with false promises of patchs, miracle patchs, content, on a linear game with a abrupt end on nothingness. As a result some people started to use a custom avatar with the name of Funcom replaced by Failcom. But, time have pased, .... Age of Conan is #78 or something like that in popularity has a game. Some people got fired, first a head, and recently some normal people :-( I even have started to recomend again it, with huge caveats about it, what to expect, and what not to expect. So... we sould stop this boycott, and start using again normal avatars?
Yeah your huge boycott really matters to them. Why does it matter? AoC isn't even popular anymore. Maybe go after popular lousy MMORPGS like WoW or AION? Did you make your posting to start a boycott against a company like Funcom? lol

Nothing in this thread has changed my opinion, nor the boycott has changed any people opinion. But I did what I think is the right thing. Now. I think I will remove my failcom avatar and use a normal one.
I hope that Funcom has luck, and future games are sucessfull, and players are happy.

Age of Conan was exactly what they said it would be. I was never interested in it because after reading the description I knew it would suck.
It's better to keep the RPG in MMORPGs than replace it with clickety click of the mouse and keyboard.

I never noticed there was a boycott.
In order to end the boycott wouldn't you by definition have to buy from the company again?
Don't you actually mean to stop the protest?
