To be honest with you, i dont know how the game is even in existance today.  I left this game about 4 months ago because of the empty promises the dev's gave.  Server lag after the merge made it unplayable mostly, including having the invisible mobs.  If the dev's could have cut the crap and put their asses to work, i seriously might be a customer today.

This was my first MMORPG, so naturally i didnt know what was really out there.  I thought this game was the greatest, and a part of me still does, simply because it was my first.  I didnt notice the lag at first, or bugs, or missing content that is still being "promised".  After i had been playing for about 2 months, a friend told me to check out CoH and i never looked back.

Horizons could have been one of the best games out there, although i guess that could be said for every MMORPG.  The crafting system was excellent, the combat was eh when i could find some mobs, but i really loved the world.  It was fairly large and very enjoyable to exlore.

I basically just got fed up with the empty promises.  After i started reading the forums on this site, I saw that those same promises that are being "promised" today, have been promised almost since release.  I also got sick and tired of the constant happy faced dev's blabbing about "we think horizons will last for years and the new player base will increase greatly, we have great visions for horizons blah blah blah".  What a total crock of BS.  Your player base has been decreasing to what seems like nothing since release.  You have gone through chapter 11, and you still talk about how confident you are in Horizons funding and future.

Oh yea, you got bought by Tulga Inc. or whatever.  So what?  A new company cant bring a game back like this unless it has some serious cash to spend.  Honestly, I think in order to save this game they would need to hire a whole new dev team who is actually compitent(get rid of David Bowman), they would need to get servers that dont actually lag to make it unplayable, and generally redo the whole client.  If they did that, then yes i would most likely play.

I really loved some concepts and the story line of Horizons.  I loved going into the Blighted area when i was level 40 with a few lvl 80 guildies and almost getting crushed by a huge golem. It was exciting to me, and i dont think i will find that again in an MMORPG.  The playerbase that was left was great, including the two guilds i was in, Champions of Istaria and the Last of the Forgotten(i was characters Rynd and Sartyth if anybody on here remembers).

I really dont see how they are confident they can get a new player base.  When i bought this game about 6 months ago in Best Buy, it was $15.  Thats for a game that was out about a year(correct me if i am wrong) when i purchased the box.  I have looked for it since on shelf at stores, and dont see it in box anymore.  Im not sure if they ahve a digital download, but where is that new player base going to come from?

I think they just need to throw in the towel and call it quits.  Amid the credit card fraud(like charging my cc and many others extra money) and just bad game mechanics, this game has no future at all.

Forgot one other thing, last time I was on (first time in a few months) I was walking around admiring how empty the world had become. I walked and walked, and there was nothing, no monsters, no players, nothing to harvest...That is how bad the lag is even though I was one of like 200 people on the server...just to give you an idea.

Sad thing is that in the hands of competent people this one could have been a winner.

Awesome storyline and the best interactivity of any mmorpg, by far the best craft system and the housing was second to none.

It had the ability to breed the best damn community this genre has ever seen, and it did have lots of good people if you attended the "world-works".

    A shame really..

This my Third MMORPG and I'm starting top get used to the massive let down usually about 1-2 months after the game goes live.  Happened with Shadowbane, Star Wars Galaxies, Horizons.  Hopefully WoW will prove the breaker and be the best game evah!

one thing I've learned is what they say is always different to what they put out. Maybe one day a company will release a game that has everything they advertise at release or a smart company will promise nothing thus it can never run into all those broken promises

Even though I knew the original vision was long dead I still bought this game and after 2 months play i just had to pack it in.

Sadly,I think this game might die which is said because in 2000 this was a mmorpg that was known by every mmorpg player out there.

If you logged into EQ and asked which game are you looking forward to-answer horizons.

    Same in AC and UO.

It had potential,it had the following  but when it finally made it out it was not even a shell of what was promised and that really did it for me.

I will be sad to see this game go. Don't play it anymore, but logging into it did give me the old MMORPG magic feeling. Liked the music. Heck, they tried. Sad to see MMORPG's dying out these days.

Horizons still has the best music in any game i have ever played. The intro one is my favorite

    Right and wrong.

    The game has downsized.

But there are 4 servers, not 3. Chaos,Order, Unity, and Blight, (test). Unity is the EU, server. How did you fail to notice that Europe has a server, 1 from the original 3?

sorry finduilas but sometimes when you do things late at night when your tired you forget things
sorry to forget about the eu server

Its really a shame what has happen to Horizons. When this game was in development I was really looking forward to it. It had some great ideas. Even after it came out I thought it might still be able to hang in there. The crafting is great but what about those that don't care about crafting and simply want to hunt and explore. This where the game really fails. It seems extremely focused on crafting and nothing else. Why force people to craft when they just want to hunt. Why not allow people to get weapons and armor off of monsters or to buy items from NPC merchants instead of hoping a peson was selling something via merchant.

It never made any sene to me. If they wanted a completely crafting focused game, why not go along the lines of A Tale in the Desert and make the whole game about world building and item crafting.

I always hated when you had to wait for a person to come on-line just to craft an item you wanted because there was no one else high enough that could.

I wonder how the low lvls do it now that most are to high to craft those low lvl items

I followed this game from before beta and have played it since its release.  The multi-schooling system and a PvP frre world are the things that first brought me to the game.  I am still playing, mostly because of not finding anything that appeals to me.  EQ 2 has good graphics and makes good use of ambient sounds and creatures, giving the world a live feeling.  The parts I don't enjoy are the constant zoning and the lack of divesity between the classes.

Now that Tulga owns Horizons, maybe things will turn around.  But if it does not happen quickly, it may never happen.

The EU server is hardly working right most of the time. GN is not really supporting the server anymore. Rumors are TulgAE wants GN to either work out a new contract or leave all together. Speculation is EU server could be merged into NA servers. Of course the numbers are really down and this Baker guy gave them just so much money to operate and make a profit. Expect the game to die in a few short months.
