A Different Way to Make a MMORPG

Here's an idea, I'm not sure if this has ever been discussed before:

What if there was a MMORPG that worked in a totally different way

than what we have today-

It would be a modular game world system where each

person who bought it and had an account was given a piece

of the gameworld as there own,

kind of like their own zone to create whatever they wanted in it.

If they just wanted to make characters and play in zones already

created thats fine too, but if they wanted to make something

that they could really call their own, they could do that as well.

They could populate it with mobs and npcs.

Put whatever terrain and structures they wished in it, etc.

The game would have gameworld creation tools to help the user

in making their creation. Their piece of the gameworld or modual

could only be added if it were bug free (they submit their creation

for approval and if it checks out ok then it gets included into the

gameworld. There could of course be content made by the game company

itself and new zones added regularly would be a refreshing thing

to have as it gets boring always doing the same thing. There could be

contests where the best player made zones win prizes too.

Anyway, thats the idea, give people the chance to make a zone

of their own. Be it wilderness, castle, dungeon, cavern, ocean,

mountains, whatever. As long as it is playable they can make it.

Then let people enter it and let the fun begin.

OH MY GOD, there actually is a game out there already. I had no idea.

Thanks, I'll have to check out Second Life.

Stay far away from Second Life.

LOL, Second Life is proof enough that taking the sandbox concept too far just leads to chronic fapping...

    Just to make things clear...
I speak for myself and no one else, unless i state otherwise mine is just an opinion. A fact is something that can be independently verified, you may challenge such but with proof. You have every right to disagree with me through sound argument, i believe in constructive debate, but baseless aggression will warrant an unkind response.

What happens when you do what the OP suggests?

90% of the world becomes a porn playground.

So, probably need some more structure if you are actually looking for a game, and not porn.

But actually this Furry is kind of cute:
