Who wants WOW2?
Under the right circumstances I do.
I played both EQ and EQ2 and even though I quit EQ2 after
only about 6 months it wasn't because the game was bad. EQ
I played for about 3 years previous to EQ2 and quit it
because I didn't have the time (work). It seems work is what
has usually caused me to quit games (or the lack of work-
so I didn't have the money to spend on the game). One or the
other situation happens.
WOW I played for about 1 year, quit for about a year then played
it again for about 2 years.
(The Southpark episode featuring WOW got me reinterested in it).
My 1st year playing WOW I played alliance characters mostly
and had 2 accounts (I usually play 2 accounts/2 PCs, so I can
have my own mini group-it helps in doing quests and survival),
when I quit that time my highest characters were low 50s dwarves,
a warrior and a paladin.
The 2nd time around I played pretty much
Horde and when I finally quit that time I had a ton of high
level characters; 70 hunter, 70 druid, 70 rogue, 66 paladin,
64 shaman, 2X60 mages, 60 cleric, and some others. Even though
I hadn't run any instances in the Outlands and there were a few
high level instances in Azeroth I hadn't run (ex: Scholomance),
to me the game had run out of freshness.
Although WOW is a great game and is my favorite I can't see
myself ever playing it again. Mainly because if I did I would
have to start all over again from the beginning redoing all
the old quests and experiencing all the things I have already
done many many times already. I built up almost every character
combo imaginable so really theres no way for me to play the
game and see new content. IE: now the game is not worth replaying.
BUT, if Blizzard were to come out with a WOW2 similar to what
Sony did with Everquest, I would be VERY interested in playing
that game.
It would give me something new to play from a franchise that I
know and love. So, go ahead Blizzard, make me WOW2.
I'm waiting.
Comments
It will never ever come out..ever...
wow still has at least 8 years of life...
Well, Blizzard is already working on the next "WoW", or in their words, there next MMO. So that means prolly 2 to 4 years from now that it will be out.
"Life is 10% of what happens to you and 90% of how you react to it."
The next expansion for WoW, Cataclysm, will remake a lot of the old world (Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdom).
They promised many new quests for the 1~60 experience, more complex chains and they'll also change some instances.
So, since u haven't played the 60~80 instances yet (and obviously ~85), u can pretty much say that Cataclysm will be your WoW 2.
Just make sure that u get tired of dungeons like the Wailing Caverns, cause they'll not be back.
Playing: Starcraft II.
Played: Tibia, Ragnarok Online, Ultima Online, Guild Wars, World of Warcraft.
Wanna play: Guild Wars 2, SW:TOR, Final Fantasy XIV, Diablo III.
They are not gonna make a Wow 2 its just gonna be Wow with heaps of Expansions not anthoer Wow game with its name thats Ripped off Everquest 2
Count me out. For Jebesus sake, dont ever let me anywhere near such atrocity...
Just to make things clear...
I speak for myself and no one else, unless i state otherwise mine is just an opinion. A fact is something that can be independently verified, you may challenge such but with proof. You have every right to disagree with me through sound argument, i believe in constructive debate, but baseless aggression will warrant an unkind response.
We got Cat: 80-85
Emeral Dream 85-90
Elemental Planes -90-100
Burning Casle 90-100
We got a long way to go.
Cat: 2 new Races
Emeral Dream: just expan on Cat (AKA, Dragon Flight wont be the Final Boss of Cat)
Elelmental Planes : Add Arch Types to classes. New System
BCath: Adds Demon Hunter Hero Class. General Turylon returns.
Since you're talking about replay value, then Cataclysm could very well be the WoW 2.0 that you are hoping for. Blizzard is essentially recreating Azeroth from the ground up and incorporating the improved elements that went into Outlands and Northrend content.
WoW won't last forever but with Cataclysm Blizzard will breathe new life into the 1-60 range; at least for a while. It's also a smart way to draw in new players; making large improvements to the lower area of the game that is accessible to trial players.
Flying over Goldshire dropping stinkbombs on cybersex0rz sure beats killing 10 boars.
Playing: EVE, Final Fantasy 13, Uncharted 2, Need for Speed: Shift
I've done the WoW thing for nearly six years now. I don't want to see WoW 2.0 To me, WoW always has been and always will be, the best MMORPG. I'm unsubbed, because I'm tired of WoW and I'm looking forward to seeing what Blizzard does next! Not with WoW, but with a MMORPG that isn't compeition for WoW, a completely different environment. WoW brought MMORPGs mainstream and I can't wait to see where Blizzard takes the community next.
Fear not fanbois, we are not trolls, let's take off your tin foil hat and learn what VAPORWARE is:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaporware
"Vaporware is a term used to describe a software or hardware product that is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge after having well exceeded the period of development time that was initially claimed or would normally be expected for the development cycle of a similar product."
Checking out info on WOW Cataclysm I would have to say it just might be exactly what I'm looking for as far as a "WOW2" game.
And being able to play as a goblin? That would be funny. I might just have to start playing WOW again.
this guy does.
WoW 2 is decades away if ever. They're more likely to make a Warcraft sequels before WoW 2, which would be awesome. They're going to support WoW for well over a decade from now just like UO. Just be happy that they're working on new MMOs. It's beyond past time for Blizzard to establish some new IPs, which I expect them to go full force into after they finish up Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3.
Can't be, Emerald Dream (or was it Mount Hyjial? I am confused) + Elemental planes will be both in Cataclysm and Deathwing will be the final boss of the exp (i guess).
I guess OP has his answer with Cataclysm, the outdated Azeroth will get as good (or even better) as WOTK content.
The thing that excites me the most about all this is the potential of phasing for making quests actually meaningful, a whole new dimension (literally) of rewarding possibilities, and we're not talking about getting full epic just from basic questing (honestly, after the path WoW took with WOTK on epic loot, that would be the next step...).
I don't know if I can do WoW for a 3rd time. I just quit it for a second time with each time playing for 8 months, and I have a feeling that even with the new content I will leave in an even shorter time. Once I hit the endgame and got some good gear to do all the instances I just got bored. Doing the same instances all the time and constantly setting my RL schedual in order to advance in a game took its toll on me. Maybe I am just no good at mmos, but it is hard to have to always do big instances in order to advance all the time. I guess I just need a bit more freedom and more options.
Personaly I don't see why people would want a WOW2.0. other then what I will state below.
I would want a 2.0 MMORPG when the 1.0 wasn't that good or didn't get the sub-numbers it should have gotten. Wow is the one MMORPG that is truly succesfull at all stages regardless that it aint my game anymore.
Obvious I understand that you OP just want a polished/stable/filled with content game/entertaining game, something Blizzard delivered with WOW, but Blizzard has also announced that their next MMO will be nothing like WOW as like they said in their own words" there is already a World of Warcraft"
I don't know hmm.. The WOW kiddos are still very young teens.. 8 years from now some of them will have kids and dada will intoduce them to Azeroth and show he's BIG SoTT! And the loop starts again. I think this one just might go on forever I'm afraid.
When the subs start dropping dramatically Blizz will just revamp the whole game and HYPE it so hard no Blizz fan can refuse it!
Mark my words! Will will NEVER EVER get rid of WOW.
R.I.P Chikaca Whachuchu
Ehhh, No. We have seen nothing but "WoW 2.0" attempts for a while and I'm sick of it. We need something different than WoW, not more of the same.
Tried: LotR, CoH, AoC, WAR, Jumpgate Classic
Played: SWG, Guild Wars, WoW
Playing: Eve Online, Counter-strike
Loved: Star Wars Galaxies
Waiting for: Earthrise, Guild Wars 2, anything sandbox.
Can't be, Emerald Dream (or was it Mount Hyjial? I am confused) + Elemental planes will be both in Cataclysm and Deathwing will be the final boss of the exp (i guess).
That makes no sence for Deathwing to be more powerful then the Elementals in the Planes. Remember the Titans>oldgoods>DragonFlights
The Dream is when we will fight the Nightmare(cased by the Elementals once again and the Dragon Flight) [Coming close to break the chains that bound the Oldgoods in the Elelmental planes. WHich would make them a Last effort boss. Not Deathwing after them.
Cause the Eementals are responcible for the corruption of Deathwing and the BlackDragon Flight. Would be stupid to have somebody weaker then the previous boss, be the final boss.
(Not saying it cant happen, as we saw in Sunwell (kel Jaden > Lich King))
Blizzard's next MMO is not WoW 2.
Not only because they have said so, but because unlike the idiots at SoE, they won't undermine their baby with a shinier one, splitting and killing part of their original player-base.
If Blizzard makes the same mistake SoE did with EQ2, I'll be the first to call them out and call them idiots, I trust them having smart enough people on-board to avoid making that mistake.
