I just read through the thread and wondered if had signed up for beta....I went to my email and there was my beta key. I don't remember signing up, but downloading now.

Why do people keep asking? Honestly if they weren't interested why would they have signed up? I would hope that people don't sign up just to screw someone else over who actually wants to play.
Anyway, yeah not sure what they are doing here but it appears they are waiting for everyone to confirm but not sure what the heck could possibly be taking so long, click on the email link and fill in the info. Of course we are probably waiting now for the second wave of people, since it seemed a lot of people still hadn't confirmed when I did and they only had 24 hours. I was kinda hoping to be on this weekend too since the weather was gonna suck both days.
Just sign up with fileplanet if you want keys. The costs is minimal, and they give out beta keys to just about every MMO out there. Even Alganon right now.

No key (but confirmed) and can't even download the client ahead of time
