Why will NCsoft not hire a bunch of temp. GM's to just handle the gold selling and botting problem?
First off all MMO's have a running record of everything that is done in game this also includes chat logs and can be traced back to the master account no matter what chacter you are on.
Why not just have a special option to open a ticket to report gold selling and botting.
A player could report the offending chacters name and the GM could look up his chat log see www XXX cheapiest gold com then report the offending chacter or account to the office and have them baned and the account cancled the next day.
For botters have a player report the suspected offending chacter in a special suspected botter ticket the GM can give the player a tell if it is a smart bot that has a respond option to tell the GM to do not disturb that they are bussie the GM says you have 5 minutes to leave the game and can not come back for 10 minutes or so a RL player would answer or would log off then relog on a bot will not, the GM then waits like 6 minutes and if the player is still on he boots the player and issues a ban you could do a 3 strike program if you must for a account cancelation.
The company does not lose their 40$ for canceling your account you lose your money no refund, this would probaly take a few weeks not months to get rid of them after enuff loses in accounts to this not many companies will be back trying to sell gold or bot at least not for a while.

Because there are GM's who's banning people. Just not enough of them.
And hiring more GM's cost more money.
Yes it does cost money but hireing some temp's is not going to cost you all that much in the grand scheme of things what minum wage to 8$ a hour or even more cost efective hire from withen the comuntiy and say the pay is 6months of free game play to do this temp job for a few months.
The company will lose more then what they would pay out in cancled sub's and people not buying the game over this then they would to hire some people to solve this problem now and the company would look great in the eyes of its customers wich would inspire a more loyal customer fan base.
I'm not NCsoft. So telling me Aion should hire more GM won't solve your problem.
The only thing I can say is GM's are doing exactly what you are saying. It's just that there isn't enough GM.
The gold spam has dropped considerably after the new filter was introduced. It was not completely eradicated though. It looks like the gold sellers are using creative ways of typing to bypass the filter, which works some times. Still, the issue is nowhere near as bad as it was prior to the filter. On that note, the filter solution came a lot sooner than similar solutions came from more established companies.
I'm not aware of a major botting issue as some people are claiming. Perhaps it's because I outleveled the bots. Regardless, I'm sure that NCsoft is working on this issue as well. The past experience of fast fixes is encouraging and makes me believe that they will resolve this issue as well.
