Just wanted to share a few thoughts, and a little funny story from RL.
Most of you have probably tried, sitting there in front of some task that you had to do, and then switching to your fav MMO instead. Playing for hours instead of preparing what you realy should prepare. Its a common phenomenon, and, I presume, well described in the field of psychology.
I have found myself, being even more drawn towards my MMO, in times where exams were all over me. I guess its no surprise that I ended up writing my master thesis about online worlds.
But my reason for this post, is to share with you a funny little story from real life; My brother.
He was studying philosophy and was coming close to where he should be turning in his Bachelor thesis. But he just coulndt stop playing his fixer in Anarchy Online. There was no way around it, he couldnt care for the thesis, and just kept on playing, thinking that, "I have enough time, I can always write it". Days and weeks passed, and the deadline for the Bachelor thesis was coming closer. He still coulndt write anything. You know the style, waking up and playing as you are, in your undies, almost going near naked to the street to order pizza.
One morning, a friday just before the deadline on the following monday, he went "screw this", uninstalled Anarchy Online, and started writing. By monday minutes before the deadline, he was done, and handing in his thesis, he returned home, reinstalled Anarchy Online, and continued playing.
He got B for it, and he now works in the computer gaming industry.
Everything is possible.
So if you are buried and worried by exams, cheer up, you can always reinstall
