Best new MMO

glofishglofish Member UncommonPosts: 346

Like it or not Aion is the best new MMO on the market that combines RPG elements and PvP. If not Aion then what? QED.

And seriously to all haters - you really got to look at yourself and try to answer some questions. Why is it that you are so worked up about not liking Aion. It's just a game. Move on if you don't like it. Why are you even here? hanging out in the forum of a game you don't like? What is missing from your life that can only be satisfied by expressing negative sentiments?

    Lol

This game will end up like AoC and WAR in US/EU.................you can like it and praise it as much as you like.

Reality is that the number of subscribers in few months will speak volumes.

Just because people criticise a game, doesn't mean they are "haters".

The hater thing is in the head of fanboys like you who cannot take criticism towards their favourite game.

Of course Aion is the best MMORPG evah.....MMORPG.com said so so it must be true.

Let's talk about thiis in a couple of months when the number of players will crash to the ground, then we ll see if that 9.3 was deserved or just an inflted score give by an Aion fanboy.

It is a Forum........forums are made to discuss different opinion.....in particulr opposites points of view.

Forums are not made to make love with each other, for that there are the dating sites.

I think everyone has their own opinion on a game, it's not called haters, it's just people  put this more realistic? and they say what they think about an MMO, now i am not a fan of AION i did try it for 3 weeks  (beta) the game didn't appeal to me fro alot of reason, i just think think this game it's not all that like people make it see it, there is nothing new on this MMO that any other MMO has seriously, + i heard the PVE it's beyond horrible and the PvP it's very unbalanced, so per example why players will go from WoW  that  has decent PvE and very bad PvP(unbalanced) to something that is the same?.Now i don't play  none of this games WoW or Aion  so i hope my comment doesn't offend you and  call me a hater or anything like that, i;m just putting my point of view.

Its not to bad. I like the chance to proc a better item while crafting(like a crit to make a green a blue with better stats) but the grind you run into at later lvls is too much for a lot of people. Ive heard tons of accounts being cancelled, i cancelled mine but might be willing to go back if they bump xp increase up about 3-400%. The death penalty seems a bit spendy also.

The game has equal level of polish as other games that have been published a year ago. As a matter of fact, gaps in content that haunted AoC at release are quite similar to those of Aion at around 30. The problems of PvP are quite similar to those we've seen with WAR. It seems to me that the title for "best new MMO" really doesn't mean much. I wonder what is missing from your life to only be satisfied by expressing positive sentiments? Why are you even here? Shouldn't you be playing this game?

Criticism is one thing. Who is against that?

Piling onto the bandwagon with glee and joy just to make another even more negative and nonsensical argument is what I talk about.

You yourself are an example of this - you just heard that PvE is horrible and PvP is unbalanced  - yet you repeat it without a second thought. Do you really think that it could possibly be as you put it "beyond horrible" which means worse tham just about anything? Really? If you say that you found it boring - that is a valid point. Saying beyond horrible makes you someone who does not want rational discourse.

Think about your own thoughts why is it that you embrace negativity with so much readiness?

I said new MMO. WAR and AoC are not new. That is all I am saying.

I am here  to talk about my favorite game - is that not a good motivation?

Being here to bash a game now that is a sad, sad motivator.

Which prove the OP's point.  Aoc and war are about the 4th and 5th largest western p2p mmorpg.

What else are you going to play?

Off course there's always the option to play wow or eve.  But what else?

You see how a game is sooo much in positivity before it is released. but always  turns out negative after it is released. just take a look at...ALL the game in this forum

"what else are you going to play"-----this is the exact reason i played aion in the first place. I did give it a chance, played through all CB's and the OB and am almost lvl 40 atm. I will not renew my sub for one very big problem in the game, the botters and the total lack of concern by ncsoft to fix this problem. Go and look how many botters are in Korean aion and argue to me that they will fix this. It will not happen.

    Funny you mentioned that.

I play Aion on the Taiwan server.  In 3 month NCsoft said they banned 169,900 people there.

The funny thing is we only got 20 server.  And my guess is we only have about 300,000 current subscriber.

If you said best MMO potential I would agree. But, I canceled my sub over the botting issues. I really got tired of reporting bot after bot and having them still be there week or more later.

Nothing else matters beyond this deal breaker. Not the PvP, not the Grind, not any other feature. If you have a game where there are many areas with more bots then humans, it fails.

I will never buy another NCSOFT game again. So, Guildwars 2 is out. Their history of horrible support, bots, etc just makes me want to avoid them like the plague. Sad, Aion had the potential to be the best game around.

Why don't you look at yourself, and ask if Aion is so great, why aren't you playing it right now instead of posting bullshit flamebait on a forum?

Oh, wait, you probably are "playing" it...or botting yourself to level cap.  Right?

(as posted on the Aion website)

I will not be renewing my subscription to this game. Since NCsoft doesn't offer a feedback option when you unsubscribe, I'll give my reasons for leaving here.

    1. Goldsellers, spammers, and bots. Oh my! - gold-selling is rampant in every MMO. In Aion, however, it seems that goldsellers are overlooked by the GMs. I've seen the same goldseller set up with a personal shop for 3 days in a row, in one of the highest-traffic areas of the game. Why hasn't that account been banned? Only NCsoft knows for sure.

    2. Restrictive, repetitive gameplay - this is a personal opinion. I find the gameplay and quests repetitive. There are mainly two types of quests:

    - verb-number-noun quests (ie. "kill 10 rats", "collect 15 plants", etc, etc. etc.)

    - gopher quests (ie. "deliver this package to so-and-so", "go ask so-and-so for help", etc, etc. etc.)

It can certainly be argued that this isn't anything new or different from any other MMO. Perhaps it's because there are so few quests that you're pretty much forced to do them all if you want to advance at a decent pace and you don't want to grind (kill the same mobs over and over) all day long.

    3. Wolf in sheeps clothing - this is an Asian MMO being marketed to a western audience. While most of the localization is pretty good, there are some things that scream "Asian MMO!" regardless of what's been done. Personal shops are the most noticable thing. Allowing only 10 items to be sold via the broker is another. The small game wold is another. The linear gameplay is another.

In its current form Aion should be F2P. It just isn't "polished" enough to earn my subscription fee. I'd like to be able to say, "If they fixed "A", or modified "B", or added "C", then I'd re-sub." But I can't. In my opinion the core game is flawed, and only some drastic changes that would require a complete rebuild would do anything to change it.

Goodbye, and thanks for all the fish.

To the OP... best new MMO?  Aion is new (to the west), yes. But the 'best" new MMO? That's pretty subjective. I haven't tried all of the new MMOs. Have you?

I have not had to deal with gold spam in the past week. But I agree that  it was really bad in the first two weeks. They are pretty much on the ball now. As for botting - that I have not seen affecting my game experience.

You know that this is a genre right? If you don't like the genre that is fine but it is not like it was a surprise - it plays like other games.

This is nonsense.  Asian or not is irrelevant. What matter is whether there is an audience or not for the product.
